Race 1   RITCHIE MCDONALD & VAL WHYTE MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROT
SPOTLIGHT THE VALLEY - trotted roughly racing into the first bend when being restrained to obtain cover. Weakened rounding the final bend.
FULL NOISE - began awkwardly. Over-raced when being restrained near the 1000 metres.
Race 2   RD PETROLEUM AMATEUR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
XMAS BAY - driver M Stratford was unable to activate the removable deafeners applied to the gelding. Trainer B Negus (agent M Stratford) was issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $100 for failing to affix gear so as not to malfunction.
SENORITA MARGARITA - over-raced through the middle stages when leading.
RAH DE RAH - raced three-wide in the early stages until being restrained to the rear of the field near the 1800 metres.
PAT CAMPBELL - held up rounding the final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
ROMANITE - hung inwards rounding the final bend with driver S Wigg unable to fully activate the sliding blinds applied to the gelding.
Race 3   MACCA LODGE/MCINTYRE FLANNERY TAIT/REDPATHS TROT
The front line tape became entangled around horse's legs necessitating a false start be declared. Stewards granted permission for DORA EXPLORER to start from the Unruly position for the restart.
In the restart ABADABADO became entangled in the front line tape and fell to the track necessitating a second false start be declared. ABADABADO underwent a Veterinary examination which revealed a laceration to the knee with the mare declared a late scratching at 1.34 pm.
TOMMY TIDDLER - hung inwards near the 1800 metres. Again hung inwards passing the 800 metres. Broke passing the 700 metres after taking fright when the runner in front contacted track markers with TOMMY TIDDLER losing all chance and eventually being retired from the race.
MAINLAND PAT - trotted roughly rounding the first bend. Hung in near the 750 metres making contact with several track markers. Weakened from the 600 metres.
LISTEN EASY - Underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Broke in the restart losing considerable ground. Authorisation of 4th placing being awarded was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations when breaking at this stage of the race.
MAJESTIC ROLLON - broke inside the final 200 metres. Authorisation of 5th placing being awarded was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the filly had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations when breaking at this stage of the race.
DORA EXPLORER - refused to trot away losing all chance. A final warning was placed on the mares barrier record.
LUCK O' THE IRISH - trotted roughly passing the 1300 metres.
KIWI HEIR - broke passing the 700 metres.
Stewards showed leniency when assessing penalties for this race due to the barrier tape malfunctions resulting in two false starts.
Race 4   FASTTRACK INSURANCE/GRAND TAVERN/DANIEL BATH MOBILE PACE
RAKABEACH - broke shortly after the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Authorisation of 2nd placing being awarded was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied RAKABEACH had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations when breaking at this stage of the race.
SHADOW DANCER - broke shortly after the start. A final warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Weakened from the 500 metres.
MAGNETIC CHIME - paced roughly on various occasions during the running. Weakened from the 400 metres.
TOP POCKET CHANCE - paced roughly in the score-up.
Race 5   REMARKABLES ORCHARD/NEW WORLD ALEX/STHN HEIGHTS MOB PACE
PERONI - paced roughly rounding the final bend.
YUKO - shifted up the track leaving the final bend.
EDGE SHEERAN - broke rounding the first bend losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the racing record of the horse. Paced roughly passing the 800 metres.
HONOUR BEFORE GLORY - raced wide rounding the first bend then hampered by a breaking runner shortly after.
DUTY BOUND - a post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be a Grade 5 Roarer with surgery recommended. Connections were advised a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to DUTY BOUND racing next.
Race 6   VAN DER VOORT FAMILY/HARLIWICH HOLDINGS MOBILE PACE
BETTER THANA MISSUS - lay inwards rounding the first bend contacting several track markers.
RAKARIPPA - held up rounding the final bend. Driver P Hunter was spoken to regarding the tactics he adopted when electing not to shift ground outwards rounding the final bend, then subsequently being covered and held up for a run in consequence. Mr Hunter explained his filly was under a drive at the time and had come to the end of its run. Mr Hunter added that although his runner was held up on the bend, it was only by tiring runners and overall he was disappointed with the performance. Stewards accepted Mr Hunter's explanation.
WICKED WITCH - weakened from the 600 metres.
SHEZDAWON - raced wide into the first bend. Weakened from the 400 metres.
MAJOR MENACE - out of position at the start. Raced wide into the first bend.
HOT N GOLD - shifted down the track in the final straight when under pressure.
Race 7   MARSH'S HONEY/MAINLAND MINERALS SOUTHLAND PACE
WOLF WEST - raced wide in the early stages before improving to the lead near the 1800 metres. Weakened from the 500 metres.
STANDOUT - junior driver J Morrison (who declined the assistance of a Senior Driver) admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations. After viewing relevant replays and hearing submissions on penalty the JCA suspended Mr Morrison's junior horseman's licence from the 9th January until the 12th January inclusive (3 days)
ALLABOUTJOY - slow to begin. Weakened from the 1000 metres and was eventually retired from the race. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with trainer N Williamson in the coming days.
OFF THE EDGE - broke at the start. Weakened from the 700 metres and was eventually retired from the race. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the horse to have a slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with trainer A Edge in the coming days.
Race 8   BEARING REPLACEMENTS MOBILE PACE
BUNTER'S DREAM - briefly hampered by a tiring runner passing the 450 metres.
OLIVE COOK - briefly hampered by a tiring runner passing the 500 metres. Held up rounding the final bend.
SHE'S A DAGG - weakened rounding the final bend. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with trainer M Jones in the coming days.
RONNIE PICKERING - raced wide in the early stages.
BURNHAM BOY - raced wide when improving through the middle stages.
BELLA SARA - paced roughly near the 800 metres.
Race 9   PETERS GENETICS ROXBURGH CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
CHUCKLES - weakened from the 400 metres.
IDEAL DRAW - paced roughly in the early stages.
SAGWITCH - hampered by a weakening runner rounding the final bend.
SPIRIT OF ST LOUIS - broke at the start losing its chance and was eventually retired from the event.
ROBYNS PLAYBOY - slow to begin then paced roughly into the first bend losing ground.
Race 10   KEA WAI BUILDING LTD TROT
THE NIGHT SWEATS - broke passing the 2200 metres.
CUDDLY TROUBLE - broke briefly shortly after the start.
GLOBAL FLIGHT - broke passing the 600 metres.
SUNNIVUE PHILEAH - broke after 100 metres losing all chance. Trainer S Ashton advised the mare will now be sent for a spell.
TIME IN A BOTTLE - broke shortly after the start losing some ground. Broke again near the 150 metres.
SAGE TROUBLE - broke at the start.

CARLO GAMBINO - held up rounding the final bend.
ANNIE FITZ - held up rounding the final bend.
