Gore HRC - Friday, 27th December 2019
Race 7 - MATAURA LICENSING TRUST GORE CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
Co-trainer R Wilson advised the Stewards on 31 December that he was at a loss to explain the performance of ROBYNS PLAYBOY at its last start, however added the gelding had recovered well and had performed well in training leading up to resuming at Roxburgh on 4 January.
Race 10 - OTAMITA SERVICING LTD MOBILE PACE
Driver K Barclay (CHUCKLES) was issued a warning for being out of position at the start.
Stewards spoke with B Barclay regarding the manner his gelding raced on the final bend. Mr Barclay explained the gelding was wearing a Murphy blind for the first time causing it to race poorly. He was aware that JUST WONDERING was over-racing on his back and so for safety reasons he pulled wide on the track resulting in Mr Hay's runner contacting his sulky wheel.

Race 10 - ALL THINGS HARNESS RACING HANDICAP TROT
Driver M Anderson (B D YASOTHON) admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than is permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations. After viewing replays and hearing submissions on penalty the JCA suspended Mr Anderson's horseman's licence from the 4th January until 9th January inclusive (4 days.)

Race 1   NZ BLOODSTOCK MOBILE TROT
The start of this event was delayed due to TOLKIEN requiring farrier attention.
TWEEDLEDEE - hampered by a breaking runner in the early stages of the home straight.
TOLKIEN - broke near the 300 metres.
ALPINE RETREAT - back a length at the start.
TIME IN A BOTTLE - trotted roughly throughout the home straight and was unable to be driven out by driver M Williamson. Reported by its driver to have over-raced throughout and trotted roughly on occasion. Mr Williamson further advised in his opinion TIME IN A BOTTLE had become fired up by the mobile start and he would be recommending the mare be restricted to standing starts for its immediate racing future.
HELLUVA WAY - briefly hampered by a breaking runner rounding the final bend.
GLOBAL FLIGHT - broke near the 1700 metres. Trotted roughly rounding the final bend.
LADY ZARA - cast a bell boot near the 1700 metres with trainer/driver A Kyle reporting the mare had trotted roughly thereafter. Broke near the 500 metres.
JACCKA JEORGE - trotted roughly in the early and middle stages.
AYUTTHAYA - trainer M Denton was issued a warning when presenting this runner in the incorrect colours.
Race 2   FORKLIFTS NZ LTD MOBILE PACE
SWELL TIME - held up rounding the final bend.
A ROCKNROLL MAID - driver K Larsen admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) the particulars being that he drove carelessly racing into the first bend when shifting ground inwards when insufficiently clear of MAGNETIC CHIME resulting in that runner being checked. After viewing replays and hearing submissions on penalty the JCA suspended Mr Larsen's horseman's licence from the 3rd January until the 6th January inclusive (2 days.)
DON'T NEED AN EXCUSE - lay inwards rounding the bend by the 1200 metres.
DELIGHT N GOLD - held up rounding the final bend.
MAGNETIC CHIME - checked racing into the first bend having to be steadied. Lay inwards rounding the final bend.
Race 3   REGENT CAR COURT MOBILE PACE
TOUCHE - paced roughly in the early stages.
MAN I'M GOOD - driver A Kyle was issued a charge pursuant to the Push Out Rule when forcing another runner to race wider on the track near the 1300 metres. After viewing relevant replays and hearing evidence from Mr Kyle and the Stewards the JCA dismissed the charge.
IDEOLOGIST - when questioned regarding the improved performance co-trainer M Robertson advised the gelding had taken natural improvement from its first up run on 27 December at Gore and had drawn benefit from a recent change of training regime to working on the grass at Cromwell.
IDEAL GLACIER - over-raced rounding the first bend. Forced wider on the track near the 1300 metres.
MAAHES - broke in the early stages of the score-up and was out of position at the start. Placed on the Unruly for future mobile start engagements.
Race 4   FAIRBAIRN PLUMBING LTD MOBILE PACE
LITE PERCUSSION - held up for clear racing room until late in the home straight.
TRIPLE VC - held up leaving the final bend.
DALLAS GRIMES - over-raced in the middle stages.
AIRWAVES - checked by a breaking runner in the home straight.
OLIVE COOK - eased out of the race passing the 1400 metres when the back carrier strap came adrift with junior driver J Morrison electing to retire the mare from the race for safety reasons. When inspected the gear was found to be in previous good condition. Co-trainers P & M Robertson were issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $100 for failing to affix gear so as not to come adrift.
NIRVANA BEACH - hung inwards and paced roughly in the score-up and was slightly out of position at the dispatch. Checked by a breaking runner in the home straight.
MAKARA - broke near the 100 metres and shifted outwards abruptly, checking AIRWAVES and NIRVANA BEACH.Stood down to trial to the Stewards satisfaction on one occasion prior to racing next. Cleared from the Unruly for future mobile start engagements.
Race 5   WILLY'S FLOORING LTD MOBILE TROT
There was a delay to the start of this event due to a member of the public requiring the services of the Ambulance.
JIMMY CARTER - hampered by a breaking runner near the 600 metres.
GAZZA GALLEON - broke in the score-up losing all chance. Junior driver B Laughton reported the gelding had become stirred up with the delay to the start which Stewards took into account when assessing penalty for this runner.
MDINA - lay inwards on the final bend striking track markers.
MAJESTIC CONNIES - broke near the 600 metres.
SEKKIE MONKEY - trotted roughly in the score-up and was out of position at the start. Trainer/driver N Williamson advised the mare had locked on one rein during the running causing him some difficulty and he would be making gear changes in an effort to rectify this tendency prior to SEKKIE MONKEY racing next. Lay inwards over the concluding stages.
Race 6   SOUTHERN ST'BRED BREEDERS ASSOCIATION FILLIES MOBILE PACE
NIKASA - lay outwards on occasions rounding the first bend.
WATCH ME NOW - broke entering the home straight after receiving pressure from an outside runner.
SUGAR LOAF - out of position at the start. Driver M Anderson advised the filly paced roughly in the score up with a final warning being placed on her barrier record. Hung inwards in the early stages of the home straight after driver M Anderson activated the removable deafeners.
Race 7   GIBSON-SMITH BLOODSTOCK MOBILE PACE
There was a delay to the start of this race when remedial work was required to cover a wet patch on the track.
NEW YORK MAN - over-raced in the middle stages. Held up rounding the final bend.
I'M WATCHING YOU - weakened rounding the final bend. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow recovery and be showing signs of dehydration. When questioned regarding the performance driver M Williamson expressed disappointment with the effort and advised I'M WATCHING YOU may be better suited to being driven for one run.
JACCKA OLIVER - struggled to maintain its position in the field passing the 1200 metres then compounded from the 600 metres. Driver B Barclay reported the gelding had been striking a knee. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. A warning was placed on to the racing performance JACCKA OLIVER.
STARKEY - late scratching on Veterinary advice at 3.49 pm. Connections were advised a Veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding racing next.
MAJOR MEISTER - held up rounding the final bend.
ROCK TO THE BOSS - hung outwards passing the 1300 metres. Hampered by a weakening runner passing the 650 metres.
Race 8   MACCA LODGE SOUTHERN BELLE SPEED SERIES (HT2) MOBILE PACE
Due to a malfunction with the water tanker the track was unable to be watered prior to this race.
MOSSDALE ART - Junior driver B Hope will be spoken to in the coming days regarding his use of the whip.
MAJOR SASS - Co-trainer K Barclay was issued a warning when presenting this runner in the incorrect colours. Raced wide in the early stages.
DACHY - raced wide in the early stages.
BRIDESDALE ROBYN - broke at the start losing its chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
COUNTESS OF ARDEN - raced wide in the early stages. Junior driver B Laughton reported the mare had raced lethargically through the middle stages and had been disappointing. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer J Stiven advised he will have blood tests conducted in the coming days which Stewards will follow up.
Race 9   THE TEST SYNDICATE MOBILE PACE
THE CROUPIER - broke in the early stages of the score-up with a warning placed on the geldings barrier record. Over-raced in the middle stages. Weakened rounding the final bend,
MAIDONTHEBEACH - held up rounding the final bend.
THE MAROON MARAUDER - Over-raced in the middle stages. Held up rounding the final bend and in the early stages of the run home. Paced roughly in the home straight.
WHATA RAZZLE DAZZLE - broke in the early stages of the score-up and was unable to take up its allotted position behind the mobile barrier. A warning was placed on the geldings barrier record. Over-raced in the middle stages.
KINGMAKER - held up rounding the final bend.
MACH'S BACK - hung inwards and broke near the 1200 metres.
