Race 7 - CHELSEA PROPERTIES ASHBURTON CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
Driver C DeFilippi admitted a breach of the push out rule, when forcing trailing runner NANDOLO to race wider on the track when entering the first bend. JCA suspended Mr DeFilippi's licence from the conclusion of racing on the 3rd of January until the 10th of January 2020. (2 days)

Race 1   DAKINS GROUP TROT
GO MARG - when questioned regarding the mare's seemingly disappointing performance driver M Williamson explained that she felt flat throughout and only got into her work late in the race adding that he would be recommending the addition of blinds. Trainer B Graham advised that he was disappointed with the run and would look to race the mare over longer distances for future engagements.
MARANATHA ATLAS - broke at the start and lost ground. Hung out in the straights. Broke near the 800 metres.
HIDE N SPEAK - broke shortly after the start (approx 50 metres).
FAST WET N WINDEE - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start.
MONO GAMBLE - fractious behind the barriers.
SAME - fractious prior to the start causing a delay. Hung inwards and lost ground on the bend between the 1600 metres and the 1400 metres. Trotted roughly throughout. Weakened from near the 600 metres. Broke when out of contention in the early stages of the run home. When questioned regarding the gelding's performance driver and co-trainer J Smith advised that the gelding had not been comfortable at any stage on the grass racing surface and it was his intention to add heavier bell boots to the horse's gear.
RITES OF ZHOU - broke near the 850 metres losing ground. Trotted roughly leaving the final bend.
Race 2   TAI TAPU HOTEL MOBILE PACE
CARITA - despite the efforts of driver C Thornley the gelding attempted to pull up when leading near the 1600 metres causing an inconvenience to the majority of the field. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing record. Mr Thornley advised that in his opinion the horse would race more tractably if able to be driven with a trail however this had previously proved problematic due to the gelding's tendency to over race. Trainer J McDonald requested this horse be drawn unruly for future mobile racing.
AMERICAN FLYER - raced roughly over the crossing and lost ground with the mare briefly conceding her trailing position. Crowded inwards near the 1600 metres by FRAUD and made contact with several track markers in consequence. Driver M Williamson was questioned regarding this incident with him explaining that after losing ground racing over the crossing he had urged his horse forward but when he realised he had lost rights to the trailing position attempted to restrain however the mare had been slow to react and become awkwardly positioned close to the sulky of FRAUD having to be restrained. It was reported this mare made respiratory noise during the running with a post race Veterinary examination showing no obvious abnormalities.
SHADOW AVEROSS - hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1600 metres.
SHEELASINLEAGUE - hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1600 metres.
FRAUD - driver C DeFilippi was spoken to regarding the manner in which he shifted ground inwards racing into the first bend and advised that it was expected in future he demonstrate a high level of care. In taking this action Stewards were mindful of the racing manners of CARITA being a significant contributing factor. When questioned regarding the mare's performance driver C DeFilippi advised that the mare had felt good until a gap had opened up then she felt flat and trainer J Wederell advised that after working well during the week he had been very disappointed with the mare's efforts today. A post race Veterinary examination showing no obvious abnormalities.
CHALBERG - hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1600 metres.
FOR TODAY - broke in the score-up.
SMOOTH DEBATE - crowded near the 1600 metres making contact with track markers.
KASTELL BRIANT - hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1600 metres.
NATURAL FIRE - broke in the score-up. Checked and broke near the 1600 metres.
SILENT SHADOW - hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1600 metres. Held up in the early stages of the run home.
IT'S ME - hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1600 metres.

Race 3   CRATE & BARREL LEESTON PACE
There was a delay to the start when the running rail near the 1200 metres had to be attended to.
CALYPSO ROCK - broke at the start. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record. Raced keenly middle stages.
When questioned regarding the gelding's performance trainer/driver R Houghton explained that the runner had raced too keenly throughout to remain competitive over the final stages.
SPINATALE - held up in the early stages of the run home.
AUCHTERCAIRN - had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
THUNDERFROMTHETHRONE - trainer S McRae was issued with a warning for presenting his runner without the notified pacifier. Broke at the start.
GOTTAGETTABEER - broke when racing over the crossing near the 1700 metres.
GLENLEDI BANDIT - broke at the start. Driver M Anderson reported that he had some difficulty steering his gelding throughout. Raced roughly passing the 600 metres when the pace and the three wide line momentarily eased.
Race 4   MITCH KERR & MATT ANDERSON MOBILE PACE
DEJA BLUE - driver T Chmiel was issued with a warning for allowing his mare to shift ground inwards over the final stages checking HOT N GOLD
KRYSTAL DELIGHT - driver B Hope was issued with a warning for allowing his mare to shift out under pressure over the final stages which contributed HOT N GOLD racing in restricted room.
ATOMIC BLAST - raced wide in the early stages. Shied inwards away from the mobile barrier and broke near the 1600 metres losing its chance.
CHEAPCHEAP - checked by a breaking runner near the 1800 metres.
HOT N GOLD - hampered by a breaking runner at the 1800 metres. Checked and broke for several strides just short of the post when runners either side shifted ground.
KENYA - hampered by a breaking runner at the 1800 metres. Raced roughly for a short distance near the 1500 metres having to be steadied.
TICKING OVER - broke near the 1800 metres checking a trailing runner. Driver C Thornley was of the opinion that the gelding had briefly lost its footing and had become unbalanced. A warning was placed on the horse's racing record.
ALBASINI - broke near the 350 metres losing its chance.
Race 5   PETER SMITH TROT
At the request of Raceday Control the start was put back three minutes. There was a further significant delay due to a member of the public requiring the services of the Ambulance. The field was turned away after a number of runners were fractious. Stewards recorded no horse penalties because of the extensive delay.
MIDNIGHT SIOUX - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
DEBORAHS GEM - broke at the start losing its chance.
BLINK N BONES - broke after 150 metres losing significant ground. Broke again near the 300 metres.
TONIQUE DE FEU - fractious prior to the start and was sent to the unruly. Raced wide in the early stages. When questioned about the gelding's performance trainer/driver D Keast explained that the gelding had become agitated because of the delay and then had been unsuited to working wide in the early stages.
LISA MARIE P - was briefly disappointed for clear racing room near the 150 metres and had to shift ground inwards.
FRANCO JOSIAH - when questioned regarding the gelding's improved performance trainer B Waldron explained that recent grass tracks had been unsuitable for the gelding and today's track was more to its liking.
FEKITOA - broke near the 2000 metres losing its chance.
MICKEY JAY - hampered by a breaking runner after 200 metres.
Race 6   PGG WRIGHTSON STANDARDBRED DIVISION MOBILE PACE
New start time of 2.55 pm due to a delay in the previous race.
GET IT ON - raced wide early stages.
GOTTA PARTY DOLL - held up early stages of the run home.
THATS BETTOR - trainer B Weaver was warned for presenting the gelding in the incorrect racing colours.
Race 7   ROSS STANBURY SUPPORTS JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
FIRENZE AMORE - raced wide early stages. Raced wide from the 1200 metres.
SOUNDSLIKEART - hung inwards throughout the run home. Driver B Hope reported to Stewards that the mare had given him considerable steering difficulty throughout.
LA BELLA VITA - checked and broke near the 400 metres displacing a tendon boot. Stewards questioned drivers S Thornley, M Hurrell, L McKay and B Hope regarding this incident but after considering their explanations and those of the senior drivers assisting them were unable to place blame with any individual horse or driver and so took the matter no further.
Race 8   PAUL RENWICK JOINERY MOTUKARARA XMAS CUP (HCP PACE)
There was a delay to the start of the race due to standing start equipment having to be altered.
HE'S A LADIES MAN - began awkwardly and got back as a result. Broke briefly near the 1500 metres due to an easing of the pace.
ISLA'S JOY - over raced between the 2200 metres and the 1900 metres after being unsuccessful in challenging for the front. Inconvenienced near the 1300 metres having to be restrained.
HOMEBUSH LAD - inconvenienced near the 1300 metres having to be restrained. When questioned in regards to the improved performance driver B Hope explained the gelding has raced without luck in recent races and has been working well of late.
THREE IDEAS - inconvenienced near the 1300 metres having to be restrained.
TAXMAN - when questioned regarding the gelding's performance driver S Ottley explained that she was very disappointed with its efforts as it had trialled well recently on the grass and has been working well in the lead up to today's race. Stewards will follow up on the recovery of the gelding in the coming days.
KOTARE YOLANDE - shifted to the outside unruly position due to being fractious prior to the start. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record. Attempted to pull up near the 1300 metres causing an inconvenience to a number of trailing runners. A warning was placed on the horse's racing record. Weakened at the 400 metres. Trainer/driver R Houghton advised that he suspected the mare to have fibrillated however a Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
BE MINE TONIGHT - broke at the start.
DOCTOR TIM - checked and broke near the 1100 metres.
EUREKA - broke at the start losing its chance.
SPOT ON - inconvenienced near the 1300 metres having to be restrained. Weakened from the 1200 metres. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards questioned M Anderson regarding the manner in which he shifted outwards near the 1100 metres checking DOCTOR TIM. Mr Anderson explained that his runner was struggling to maintain his position in the field. He had not responded to his urgings leading him to believe that something was amiss with horse, he added that his runner shifted under pressure without warning and had pulled up in a distressed state. Stewards adjourned this matter to a later date. Stewards will follow up the recovery of SPOT ON in the coming days.
YORKSHIRE - inconvenienced near the 1300 metres having to be restrained.
SCORCHA - when questioned regarding the mare's performance driver B Orange reported that he was very disappointed with her efforts with the connections advising that the mare would now be sent for a spell.
HAYDEN'S MEDDLE - broke near the 2000 metres. Inconvenienced near the 1300 metres having to be restrained.
Race 9   CHALLENGE LINCOLN PACE
GOTTA FUTURE - broke at the start.
TAKEMYBREATHAWAY - broke at the start.
JUST BEN - broke at the start.
RAINY RIVER - tangled away.
FLAMBOYANT - driver B Laughton reported that his bit had pulled through.
Race 10   ALL THINGS HARNESS RACING HANDICAP TROT
PACINO - began awkwardly then broke shortly after the start. Hampered by breaking runners through the early stages losing ground in-consequence.
ALI LINDENNY - broke at the start. Over raced middle stages causing driver R Holmes some difficulty.
B D YASOTHON - broke at the start (in excess of 150 metres). After viewing the videos B D YASOTHON was disqualified by the JCA under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horse Regulations. An information was opened and adjourned alleging M Anderson had used his whip on more occasions than permitted.
MIDNIGHT ASSASSIN - held up early stages of the run home.
TAKE AFTER ME - broke at the start and shifted inwards hampering other runners. Stewards will speak with R Houghton in the coming days.
SALLY LINDENNY - broke shortly after the start.
CHIEF OF STAFF - broke shortly after the start. Broke near the 350 metres.
GRAND PRINCESS - checked shortly after the start and paced for some distance losing ground. Raced wide from near the 900 metres. Driver S Tomlinson reported that she carried a punctured tyre during the running.
VALMAGNE - passed a pre-race Veterinary examination which was undertaken due to the gelding having not competed publicly since January.
SUNDONS FLYER - checked and broke in the early stages losing ground.
LOVEY DOVEY MOMENT - hampered by breaking runners in the early stages and had to shift ground outwards. Trotted roughly throughout. Broke briefly near the 200 metres.
Race 11   CANTERBURY PRINT SERVICES MOBILE PACE
RAGNARR - raced roughly in the early stages having to be restrained.
HANDS UP JACK - raced roughly over the crossing.
LITTLE RAIN - broke as the start was effected. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Again broke near the 350 metres. Driver J Morrison advised that the mare had not been suited to the grass track.
