Race 1   ARDEN LODGE MOBILE PACE
WEREN'T WATCHING - lay outwards rounding the bends throughout.
MIGHT BE ME - driver A Beck was shown the films and questioned regarding the apparent lack of urgency he showed in the early stages of the home straight. Mr Beck explained that the mare had paced roughly behind the gate so he had driven her quietly through the early stages. When the pace eased he had sent the mare forward to sit parked, then however the pace had increased over the final 800 metres. Mr Beck further added that in his view, the mare was trying her best. He was also conscious that in the previous two starts in this campaign MIGHT BE ME had paced roughly on various occasions including breaking on one occasion in the final 100 metres when the whip was used. Stewards accepted Mr Beck's explanation however reminded him of his obligation not to drive in a manner which may leave him open to query.
LATERINTHEDAY - broke in the score-up losing considerable ground. Again broke passing the 1500 metres losing all chance. Placed on the Unruly for future mobile start engagements.
MISS MUCHO - paced roughly in the early stages when being restrained to take cover.
BROADBEACH - out of position at the start.
Race 2   BRENDAN FRANKS FARRIER TROT
BIRCH - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Again broke passing the 1200 metres.
MAKE MY DAY - broke passing the 1600 metres. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
WHANGAMATA - hung inwards passing the 800 metres contacting several track markers.
LUCK O' THE IRISH - broke passing the 1800 metres.
ROBO TROUBLE - slow to begin, then hampered shortly after the start. Weakened rounding the final bend.
BONNIES DELIGHT - reared as the start was effected, hampering ROBO TROUBLE and losing considerable ground as a consequence. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Broke passing the 2000 metres losing all chance.
SUPERFAST KIWI - Weakened from the 800 metres. When spoken to regarding the performance driver N Williamson advised the gelding had trotted poorly throughout and was unable to be fully tested. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
WILLANGUS LAD - broke passing the 1600 metres with the gelding being retired from the event.
IT'S SUMMERTIME - broke shortly after the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Hung inwards on various occasions during the running. Hung inwards and struck a wheel late in the home straight and broke, then continued in a break across the finish line. Stewards withheld authorisation of 5th placing being awarded until they were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations when breaking at this stage of the race. Trainer/driver J Douglas reported he could not activate the removable deafeners applied to the mare due to the cord breaking.
Race 3   CLELAND RACING SYNDICATE MOBILE PACE
MACK SHEER - held up rounding the final bend.
TOP POCKET CHANCE - lay inwards and struck a track marker near the 1850 metres.
WOMAN IN CHARGE - when spoken to regarding the performance driver N Williamson advised the mare has been racing competitively over shorter distances. Mr Williamson added WOMAN IN CHARGE had worked to obtain the lead today and this had taken its toll, further adding the mare performs best when able to be driven for one run. A post-race Veterinary examination of the mare revealed no obvious abnormalities.
DELIGHT N GOLD - raced wide in the early stages before being restrained to the rear of the field to obtain cover.
SHE'S A DAGG - when questioned regarding the apparent improved performance co-trainer M Jones advised the filly had appreciated a drop back in the class of opposition and had trialed well in preparation for today's meeting.
MILA KUNIS - weakened from the 400 metres.
Race 4   GORE MITRE 10 MOBILE PACE
LOVE THE BLUES - hung inwards on various occasions during the running.
ELLNBAC - late scratching on Veterinary advice at 1.40 pm.
DISMARA - raced wide rounding the first bend.
VIGOROSO - paced roughly shortly after the start. Over-raced through the middle stages.
PADUKA - broke briefly in the score-up however recovered to take up its allotted barrier position at the dispatch.
WOODLEA SHAWN - weakened from the 700 metres.
Race 5   gavelhouse.com STANDARDBREDS MOBILE PACE
FREDDIESAM - paced roughly passing the 1700 metres.
PERONI - paced roughly passing the 500 metres.
BONO BROWN - broke in the score-up losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
IDEAL ROBYN - slow to leave the pre-race circle then paced roughly in the score-up and was unable to take up its allotted barrier position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
THE INTERCEPTOR - briefly hampered passing the 500 metres. Placed on the Unruly for future mobile engagements at the request of trainer B Gray.
Race 6   CARDRONA DISTILLERY / MLT 3YO STAKES (MOBILE PACE)
BUNDORAN - lay inwards rounding the first bend.
SEE YA WRITE - late scratching at 9.02 am due to being injured.
CARDINAL SIN - underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination and was cleared to race.
Race 7   MATAURA LICENSING TRUST GORE CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
PARAMA - locked wheels shortly after the start with I'MALLABOUTTHEBASE. Broke briefly passing the 500 metres. Weakened rounding the final bend.
I'MALLABOUTTHEBASE - swung sideways as the tapes were released before breaking and locking wheels with PARAMA.
RAH DE RAH - broke at the start.
IDEAL DRAW - over-raced in the middle stages.
AVEROSS RUSTLER - broke at the start. Weakened rounding the final bend.
BETTATHANFAST - pre-race warmed up.
WHATA RAZZLE DAZZLE - paced roughly shortly after the start and again on various occasions during the running. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
PLEASE SHUDDUP - lay inwards when improving three-wide passing the 900 metres.
ROBYNS PLAYBOY - delayed the start when breaching the 30 metre barrier strand. When questioned regarding the performance driver C Ferguson expressed disappointment however could offer no tangible explanation other than to advise the gelding had felt lethargic throughout. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with co-trainers R & C Wilson in the coming days.
Race 8   ALL THINGS HARNESS OWNERSHIP HANDICAP TROT
CHRISTMAS BABE - broke briefly at the start. Hampered by a breaking runner passing the 2100 metres.
THE NIGHT SWEATS - trotted roughly in the early stages and broke passing the 2100 metres, losing considerable ground. Weakened from the 1000 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
ZONED SCARLETT - broke at the start. Over-raced in the middle stages. Weakened rounding the final bend.
THAT'S THE STORY - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
KIWI CRUSHER - broke passing the 2100 metres. Over-raced in the middle stages.
JUSTAMOLLYARCHER - briefly hampered by breaking runners shortly after the start.
GLOBE TREKKER - inconvenienced shortly after the start when having to shift ground to avoid breaking runners. When questioned regarding the performance co-trainer/driver A Lethaby expressed her disappointment and advised the gelding may not be suited by recent travel, and the prevailing track conditions today. Mrs Lethaby further advised she expected GLOBE TREKKER to derive benefit from today's outing. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
Race 9   WARD & SINCLAIR LTD PACE
ALLABOUTJOY - broke at the start.
GOMEO DENARIO - trainer M Brown was issued a warning when presenting this runner in the incorrect gear.
TARTAN TRILOGY - held up rounding the final bend.
PICK SIX TELF - broke at the start. Placed in tight quarters passing the 1600 metres due to an easing of the pace. Raced three-wide without cover from the 1400 metres. Weakened rounding the final bend.
CAB CALLOWAY - broke briefly at the start. Placed in tight quarters passing the 1600 metres due to an easing of the pace.
REVITALISE - broke at the start.
Race 10   OTAMITA SERVICING LTD MOBILE PACE
AMERICAN MAC - shifted up the track marginally passing the 200 metres, briefly locking wheels with THE CROUPIER.
FLAME LADY - paced roughly in the early stages.
MAJOR WATSON - held up for clear racing room leaving final bend and again over the final stages.
ALTIMETER - Driver A Beck momentarily dropped his foot when trying to activate gear early in the home straight. Briefly locked wheels with THE CROUPIER passing the 200 metres.
CASSIUS BROMAC - raced wide leaving the final bend. Drivers B Barclay (CASSIUS BROMAC) and J Hay (JUST WONDERING) will be spoken to in the coming days regarding this incident.
THE CROUPIER - briefly locked wheels with ALTIMETER when improving outwards into tight quarters passing the 200 metres and when corrected, locked wheels with AMERICAN MAC on its inside. Driver C Ferguson was issued a warning for the manner he shifted ground at this point.
JUST WONDERING - made contact with the sulky of CASSIUS BROMAC passing the 350 metres. Driver J Hay will be spoken to in the coming days.
CHUCKLES - out of position at the start. Driver K Barclay will be spoken to in the coming days.
