Race 1   GRASS TRACK RACING AT ROTORUA JAN 26 MOBILE PACE
A BETTER DANCER - over-raced early and middle stages when leading.
HIGHVIEW JUSTICE - weakened final stages.
LYNTON CREEK - raced three back on the outer before attempting to improve three wide with cover from the 500m but failed to run on finishing in 7th place beaten 10.9 lengths. When questioned regarding the performance Driver K Hall could offer no explanation for the disappointing run.
ALLY MAE - back a length at the start. Driver B Hadley was warned to maintain his position until dispatch in the future. Held up early final turn.
VENETO - raced three wide early before being restrained to the rear near the 1800m. Driver N Munro was questioned regarding his tactics over the final 500m. Mr Munro stated that his near side sulky tyre had punctured near the 600m so he elected to attempt gain a break on the field as he was concerned that the tyre and tube may come off the rim, placing him at a disadvantage, however his mare had peaked on its run inside the 100m and for that reason he had elected not to turn his whip given that he felt VENETO was giving of its best. Mr Munro's explanation was accepted.
Race 2   ALABAR MOBILE PACE
COMEDY ACT - broke for several strides early in the run home.
FORWARDY - over-raced middle stages when midfield on the outer.
QUARTERBACK - raced keenly middle stages. Weakened final turn.
BLAKE - broke near the 250m losing its chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners record.
Race 3   FLYING MILE NIGHT JANUARY 10th MOBILE TROT
PRETORIUS - broke shortly after the start losing ground before settling at the rear.
STOW - trotted roughly rounding the final turn and then broke near the 170m. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners record.
NATTY PAGGER - badly held up leaving the back straight and rounding the final turn.
MAJESTIC ONE - raced keenly middle stages when leading.
THATGIRLTROUBLE - commenced to weaken leaving the back straight the final time.
Race 4   MARSH EQUINE & LIVESTOCK INSURANCE MOBILE PACE
HEY GOOD LOOKIN - raced three wide early.
EMMI ROSE - paced roughly shortly after the start. Paced roughly rounding the final turn and entering the home straight.
PATAGONIAN PRINCESS - broke early in the run home losing its chance. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners record.
Race 5   MOVENPICK@CAMBRIDGE RACEWAY MOBILE PACE
SARANDON - commenced to weaken rounding the final turn. Checked early in the home straight when having to take evasive action avoiding a breaking runner.
TEMPO ROSE - checked early in the run home when having to take evasive action.
KERRI MAGUIRE - checked by a breaking runner early in the run home and shifted down inside the marker line losing considerable momentum.
FERRITTS SISTER - shifted out racing down the back straight on both occasions when leading. Broke on straightening for the run home checking trailing runners and lost its chance. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners record.
COWGIRLS N ANGELS - raced in restricted room rounding the final turn. Checked early in the home straight.
PETER FORSBERG - inconvenienced early in the run home.
Race 6   STEVE DUNNE 80th BIRTHDAY HANDICAP TROT
The start was delayed for one minute at the request of the TAB due to Ashburton Harness running late.
AORAKI - when questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer R Paynter stated that he had taken blood from the mare following its previous disappointing run which had shown no abnormality, as had an endoscopic procedure. Mr Paynter further advised that he had increased the mare's workload leading into today's event which had been run to suit with AORAKI able to set its own terms in front throughout.
MAJESTIC STRIDE - broke under pressure near the 100m losing its chance.
SAVITSKAYA - proved difficult when parading. Swung sideways when the barriers were released and then refused to move, which required assistance from the Clerk of the Course and the Starter's Assistants, before being retired from the event. Trainer L Chin was advised that the mare would be stood down until it trials satisfactorily on two occasions.
GREY STOKE - hampered momentarily shortly after the start when having to take evasive action to avoid SAVITSKAYA and a Starter's Assistant. Weakened final stages.
PHOEBE IMPERIAL - broke shortly after the start losing ground before settling. Commenced to improve three wide approaching the 1400m but was under pressure passing the 800m before weakening to finish distanced. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. Stewards will follow up with Trainer N Chilcott regarding the gelding's recovery in the coming days.
Race 7   DUNSTAN HORSE FEEDS MOBILE PACE
BUBBLED UP - unsuccessfully contested the early lead from its pole draw and was then taken forward to lead near the 1600m. Eased to take the trail near the 1100m but was under pressure passing the 800m before tiring to finish at the rear. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. Stewards will follow up with Trainer B Mangos regarding the mare's recovery in the coming days.
THE BANDIT QUEEN - hampered by a weakening runner passing the 800m. Held up rounding the final turn.
ACE STRIKE - hampered by weakening runners near the 700m. Held up rounding the final turn and early stages of the run home.
ABOUT TURN - raced three wide from the 1200m. Lay in and paced roughly rounding the home turn and then continued to pace roughly for a distance.
IMAJOLLYWALLY - commenced to give ground passing the 700m to finish at the rear. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. Driver J Abernethy advised that the gelding had made a strange respiratory noise entering the back straight the final time and felt that it may have flipped its palate which then corrected on pulling up.
Race 8   GROUP 1 TURF BAR TROTTERS FLYING MILE (MOBILE TROT)
GERSHWIN - broke late in the score up for several strides before breaking again at dispatch losing ground before settling at the rear.
MARCOOLA - broke shortly after the start losing its chance.
ENHANCE YOUR CALM - broke passing the 180m when leading and failed to settle finishing in 3rd place. A Protest against this runner's 3rd placing was not contested by connections and the JCA disqualified the gelding.
Race 9   FINE LAWN : WE'VE DONE THE GROUND WORK 4 YOU MOBILE PACE
SARABI - Driver A Harrison reported that she dropped her whip near the 700m.
AMARO - raced three wide for the first 1000m before crossing to race outside the leader.
DRUM WITHERS - held up briefly rounding the final turn.
Race 10   MARK WAMBOLD MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROT
WISHING CRYSTAL - tired approaching the final turn.
SKEE KING - broke shortly after the start losing its chance and was retired from the event.
STRENGTH OF HEART - broke shortly after the start and galloped a distance before trailing the field.
ISA THE GREAT - broke near the 2400m losing ground. Broke again passing the 1900m when trailing the field and was retired from the event.
BATTLE COMMANDER - over-raced middle stages when attempting to surrender the lead to OUR SPITFIRE.
TEARS OF JOY - inconvenienced approaching the first turn by a breaking runner.
PRESIDENTIAL JEWEL - broke approaching the first turn inconveniencing a trailing runner and lost ground before settling.
DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE - broke shortly after the start losing its chance.
FLYING TAINE - broke passing the 1400m but soon settled. Broke again approaching the 200m losing its chance.
KEYSTONE CAVALIER - slow early. Broke passing the 1600m. Broke again passing the 600m.
OUR SPITFIRE - unsuccessfully contested for the lead mid-race before being eased to trail the leader.
