Race 1   GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND HANDICAP TROT
The start was delayed until the ambulance took up its correct viewing position.
ALVIRA HEST - broke after 150 metres. Again broke near the 900 metres losing its chance.
GLOBE TREKKER - broke after 150 metres. Raced wide from the 850 metres.
OVERZEALOUS - raced roughly near the 200 metres and held up throughout the final straight going to the line untested.
IDLE MOOSE - hampered by a breaking runner after 150 metres having to shift ground inwards. Lost ground on the final bend when following a weakening runner. Stewards questioned driver B Orange and trainer R Austin regarding the gelding's performance after it failed to run on over the final stages. Neither Mr Orange or Mr Austin were able to offer any explanation with both advising they were disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the gelding in the coming days.
LOVEY DOVEY MOMENT - trotted roughly over the early stages. Again trotted roughly throughout the home straight.
MATUA TANA - began awkwardly and was slow through the early stages. Trotted roughly approaching the 1000 metres and lost ground. Lay inwards and trotted roughly on the final bend and was then held up by a weakening runner between the 300 metres and the 100 metres. When questioned regarding the performance, driver R May reported the gelding had trotted awkwardly through the early stages and had difficulty on each of the bends due to his gait. Co-trainer G Hope advised it was his intention to continue with the horse's programme, advising the horse would do its immediate racing from a mobile.
MAJESTIC HURRICANE - over-raced through the early and middle stages.
SUNDONS FLYER - raced keenly in the middle stages.
KING CASSIDY - broke at the start losing its chance.
Race 2   HYDROFLOW 'CUP DAY MAIDEN' MOBILE PACE
EL DORADO - Trainer N McGrath was issued with a warning after EL DORADO was presented with removable deafeners which had not been notified. Paced roughly and broke after 100 metres losing considerable ground.
BOSSMARO - broke in the score up checking runner on the second line with a false start being declared. Driver J Curtin elected to remain in his barrier position for the re-start. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record. Over-raced throughout. Held up in the early stages of the run home.
DENY EVERYTHING - raced greenly near the 1150 metres and shifted up the track towards the stables gate. Weakened over the final stages after leading throughout. When spoken to regarding the gelding's performance, driver S Ottley and co-trainer B Hill were unable to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery with the gelding being stressed post-race. Stewards will follow up the recovery of DENY EVERYTHING in the coming days.
FORSURE - hampered near the 1700 metres having to shift ground.
SUGAR LOAF - lay inwards under pressure through the final straight.
THE POWER OF PRAYER - was unable to maintain its position following SUGAR LOAF from the 600 metres and compounded on the final bend being distanced over the final stages. When spoken to regarding the performance, driver T Williams reported the gelding to have travelled well throughout but dropped the bit at the 600 metres and disappointed him with its efforts thereafter. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery rate. Driver T Williams admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly on the first bend when causing interference to DREAM OF GLORY. After considering the evidence the JCA suspended Mr Williams' Horseman's Licence from the conclusion of racing on 15 November up to and including 23 November 2019 (3 days).
TASMAN TEMPEST - hampered after 100 metres.
PRINCESS JESSIE - checked in the score up with a false start declared.
DREAM OF GLORY - checked and broke when making contact with the sulky of THE POWER OF PRAYER near the 1700 metres. Crowded approaching the 800 metres having to be steadied.
STREET APPEAL - jumped a shadow near the 1500 metres and broke for some distance.
JAWBREAKER(AUS) - raced wide in the early stages.
BEAUDIENE HUSTLER - out of position at the start. When questioned driver M Anderson advised the gelding had over-raced after the false start.
Race 3   MITRE 10 (NZ) LTD HANDICAP TROT
RUTHLESS KAYLA - broke briefly at the start. Hampered by a breaking runner entering the first bend and in consequence made contact with several track markers one of which was dislodged. Held up on the final bend then had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room until near the 100 metres.
RENEZMAE - broke briefly at the 300 metres.
SPLASH COLA - began awkwardly. Broke near the 2300 metres when shifting inwards to take up a position closer to the pylons. Tired from the 500 metres.
THE DOMINATOR - broke shortly after the start losing its chance.
THEODOSIA - when spoken to regarding the performance, trainer/driver C Butt explained his mare had been unsuited to the tempo of the race.
PRES THE BELLE - trotted roughly through the home straight.
Race 4   GAZE COMMERCIAL JUNIOR FREE-FOR-ALL (MOBILE PACE)
A BETTOR ACT - tired from the 600 metres and lay inwards striking track markers leaving the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance, driver M Anderson advised that his intention had been to lead and set a solid tempo so as to deter any challenges. He added that he had been disappointed with the entire's efforts inside the final 600 metres. Trainer M Kerr advised that on cooling down the horse was displaying an awkward gait at a walk. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the entire in coming days.
MIKEY MAGUIRE - held up by a weakening runner near the 600 metres having to shift ground outwards.
Race 5   RNP HOMES LTD MOBILE PACE
BETTER FLY - over-raced early stages.
NAKURU - driver J Dunn reported that as a result of the mare racing keenly and on several occasions becoming awkwardly positioned close to a runner ahead, he had not released the hopple shorteners.
GLADAMARE - blundered shortly after the start having to be heavily restrained settling at the rear. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record. Raced wide from the 1250 metres. Tired from the 600 metres and was not persevered with by driver B Orange. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the mare in the coming days.
IVANA LEGACY - hung inwards on the bends striking track markers.
MAJOR SASS - hung inwards on the bends striking track markers.
Race 6   COMMODORE AIRPORT HOTEL NZ TROTTING FREE-FOR-ALL (MOB TROT)
BORDEAUX - broke racing into the first bend. Again broke near the 900 metres.
SERTORIUS - broke shortly after the start losing its chance.
DESTINY JONES - under pressure to maintain its position in the field over the final 800 metres. When questioned regarding the performance, driver S Ottley could only advise she had been disappointed with the mare's efforts. Trainer D Hunter was at a loss to explain the performance and advised he would notify Stewards of anything that may come to light in the coming days. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
AMARETTO SUN - hampered by a breaking runner racing into the first bend. Held up for a distance passing the 700 metres by a weakening runner.
WOODSTONE - trotted roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. Raced wide early and middle stages. Broke entering the final straight.
WINTERFELL - trotted roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. Trotted roughly and then broke racing into the first bend.
SUNDEES SON - trotted roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. Broke at the 1100 metres. Again broke at the 200 metres. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing record. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
PARAMOUNT KING - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start.
MCLOVIN - raced wide early stages. Driver K Gath was fined $500 and had her Horsewoman's Licence suspended from the conclusion of racing on 15 November up to and including 19 November 2019 (3 days) for using her whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations.
MAJESTIC MAN - raced wide early stages.
Race 7   MCMILLAN EQUINE FEEDS SIRES' STAKES FINAL (MOBILE PACE)
The start was delayed when the ambulance broke down and repair attempts had to be made.
ABOVE N BEYOND - hung inwards under pressure rounding the final bend striking several track markers. When spoken to regarding the gelding's performance, driver J Dunn explained that after being urged in the early stages to hold a forward position his horse had taken the bit and raced fiercely throughout with that taking its toll over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
DINA BOLT - raced fiercely near the 900 metres when there was an easing of the pace. Hung inwards and raced roughly near the 350 metres.
AQUA SANCTA - locked wheels with FLYING EVEN BETTOR for a short distance near the 1600 metres. Lay inwards when improving three wide near the 1500 metres and broke for several strides. Weakened from the 500 metres. Driver and co-trainer M Purdon could only advise he had been disappointed with the horses efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Co-trainer N Rasmussen undertook to notify Stewards in the coming days if anything came to light which may help to explain the run.
MIGHTY LOOEE - raced roughly and had to be steadied near the 900 metres. Held up for a distance by a weakening runner near the 500 metres.
FLYING EVEN BETTOR - raced wide in the early stages. Locked wheels briefly with AQUA SANCTA near the 1600 metres. Checked near the 1500 metres and had to be steadied.
DOWN TO THE BONE - paced roughly for some distance after the start having to be restrained by driver G Smith. Broke leaving the final bend.
COPY THAT - paced roughly for a distance passing the 900 metres.
SKIPPYS DELIGHT - held up between weakening runners on the final bend losing ground.
Race 8   PASCOES THE JEWELLERS MOBILE PACE
BETTATHANFAST - pre-race warmed.
COPPERHEAD ROSE - lay inwards and raced roughly leaving the final bend. Paced roughly over the final 300 metres and was eased down by driver J Morrison. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a right front tendon strain with the entire stood down pending a clearance.
KINGMAKER - weakened from the 400 metres. A post race veterinary check revealed no abnormalities.
AMAZING DREAM - out of position at the start. Driver N Rasmussen was issued with a warning. Raced wide from the 600 metres.
MONGOLIAN CAVALRY - lay inwards and struck track markers near the 1500 metres.
Race 9   AVON CITY FORD MOBILE PACE
LONGVIEW LADY - had to be steadied approaching the 400 metres when briefly placed in restricted room.
BELMONT MAJOR - checked and broke approaching the 400 metres losing its chance.
PATRONUS STAR - held up on the final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
ASCALABUS - driver J Keast will be spoken to regarding his use of the whip in the run home.
HOWARD HUGHES - driver A Butt was fined $200 for using his whip on more occasions than is permitted inside the final 400 metres.
BURNHAM BOY - hampered near the 400 metres.
GLIDING AWAY - raced wide early stages.
WILLISON - hampered near the 400 metres.
ROCKNROLL ROD - over-raced early stages. Lay inwards when racing wide on the final bend and contacted the front right leg of BELMONT MAJOR. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing record.
TERROR THE CHRISTIAN - weakened approaching the 400 metres.
STORM - raced wide early stages. Propped and broke approaching the 1300 metres with driver M Anderson advising the filly had attempted to kick out. A warning was placed on the horse's racing record.
COPPERFIELD - lay inwards through the final straight. Driver and co-trainer N Rasmussen could only advise she was disappointed with its efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery.
Race 10   CHRISTCHURCH CASINO NEW ZEALAND TROTTING CUP (STAND PACE)
SAN CARLO - pre-race warmed. Broke at the start.
HAIL CHRISTIAN - broke briefly at the start.
HENRY HUBERT - raced roughly into the first bend having to be steadied.
OUR UNCLE SAM - broke at the start losing its chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record.
NANDOLO - held up near the 350 metres.
CLASSIE BRIGADE - disappointed for clear racing room between the 150 metres and the 100 metres with driver J Dunn having to restrain the gelding and shift outwards in order to improve.
SMOKIN BY - broke at the start.
A G'S WHITE SOCKS - slow in the early stages and got back as a result.
MACH SHARD - when spoken to regarding the performance, driver Z Butcher advised he felt the gelding had to chase throughout because of the solid tempo which had taken its toll in the final stages. Trainer B Purdon advised he had been disappointed with the effort of the gelding and advised he would have the gelding examined by a veterinarian tomorrow and notify Stewards of any abnormalities.
Race 11   DRYMIX CEMENT TROT
PHOEBE ONYX - broke at the start. Weakened from the 500 metres. Driver J Cox advised he had been very disappointed with the gelding's efforts. Stewards will follow up the recovery with the connections in the coming days.
GIRLS LET LOOSE - broke near the 2300 metres. Again broke at the 1500 metres. Stood down pending a satisfactory trial. Trainer S Sutherland advised it was his intention to now spell the mare.
B D YASOTHON - broke after 100 metres losing its chance.
SPRINGBANK LACHIE - gave ground from the 1000 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the gelding's recovery with the connections in the coming days.
CALL ME TROUBLE - broke at the start. Again broke entering the first bend. Will now be drawn unruly for standing starts at the trainer's request.
SHOW ME THE GRAY - raced keenly throughout the middle stages and was hampered by a weakening runner between the 1000 metres and the 900 metres.
BLINK N BONES - broke near the 1800 metres.
ALI LINDENNY - hampered racing into the first bend by a breaking runner.
DESPERATEANDANGEROUS - raced wide early stages. Over-raced middle stages.
Race 12   BLUE STAR TAXIS MOBILE PACE
TAXMAN - paced roughly shortly after the start having to be steadied.
GOD ONLY KNOWS - tired from the 600 metres. Driver and trainer G Smith advised he was very disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor recovery. Stewards will follow up with the connections in the coming days.
TANGO TARA - driver J Curtin was fined $200 after using his whip on more occasions than is permitted inside the final 400 metres.
DONEGAL DAVY BOYD - broke after having been shifted wider near the 800 metres with the gelding losing its racing position in consequence.
