Miss Ottley explained she had been instructed to drive the horse with a sit today after peaking on its last race when used from the 700 metres. Miss Ottley added that she felt she was likely to be left racing three wide from this time as LAWRENCE was unlikely to surrender the parked position at such a late stage of the race. After considering the matter Stewards accepted her explanation.

Race 7   SWEET LOU - FULL & CLOSED INVITED DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
TACT EZE - weakened from the 500 metres. Stewards questioned driver K Barclay regarding the manner she drove through the early and middle stages when applying a sustained pressure to the lead of PADUKA and then weakening over the final stages. Miss Barclay explained her instructions had been to take the horse forwards from its handy barrier position and drive the horse in a leading position if possible. She advised the horse was unsuited to racing parked and had previously won from an on pace position. She was also of the opinion PADUKA had established a racing pattern of preferring to race with cover and so elected to apply some pressure to wrest the front however her filly had raced lethargically when taken forward and continued to do so when finally gaining that position. Stewards have adjourned the matter to make further inquiries.
DUKE OF DUNDEE - weakened from the 700 metres. Driver N Williamson was unable to offer any explanation other then to advise the gelding may have been unsuited by the fast time.
