Race 1   THE JOINER SHOP PACE
ROLL THE DICE - tangled away.
CAN I BE ME - broke at the start. Over raced after improving to sit parked near the 1100 metres.
SHERRY BABY - paced roughly on several occasions and was not persevered with over the final 800 metres. When spoken to regarding the mare's performance, driver J Dunn reported that she was never comfortable on the track.
JONTY JAMES - tangled away.
HIDDEN DELIGHT - tangled away.
GEORGIE MARTIN - lay inwards on the first bend and contacted several track markers.
GHOSTWRITER - briefly held up near the 200 metres.
PATRONUS STAR - trainer G Smith was issued with a warning after presenting PATRONUS STAR with sliding blinds that had not been notified. Mr Smith reported that his gelding had not handled the track.
Race 2   KAIKOURA WASTE SERVICES MOBILE PACE
TASMAN TEMPEST - driver R May reported his deafener cord had broken after they had been released.
Race 3   KAIKOURA BUILDING CENTRE ITM TROT
CABELLA NOIR - broke shortly after the start. Hung inwards and struck track markers near the 1300 metres.
EDEN CREEK - weakened near the 500 metres.
SIERRA GOLD - broke after 100 metres losing its chance.
PRINCE TEKA - hampered after 100 metres having to be steadied for a short distance.
LOOK BOTH WAYS - broke near the 500 metres. A warning was placed on the mare's racing record.
WANDERING STAR - slow to begin. Paced and then broke racing into the first bend. Driver K Tomlinson was spoken to regarding the manner she returned the gelding to its proper gait and was advised that it was expected in future she takes her runner clear of the field at an earlier opportunity so as to avoid inconveniencing other runners.
YOU REALLY GOT ME - slow to begin. Hampered first bend and broke losing its chance.
Race 4   VIC & IRENE SMITH MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROT
LONE STAR LAD - held up in the middle stages of the run home.
IDEAL INVASION - broke after 100 metres. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record. Broke at the 150 metres.
WITH ICE - broke at the 2100 metres.
ZEDDIE MARIT - broke near the 350 metres. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing record.
Race 5   PENINSULAR BEACHFRONT RESORT MOBILE PACE
WHERE'S DADDY - hung outwards and paced roughly for a distance at the start and forced MORDECAI over extra ground. A final warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record. Trainer M Kerr advised he would be changing the bit and adding hopple shorteners to the gelding's gear.
MORDECAI - hampered through the early stages and was dictated wide losing ground in consequence.
GIVEMEWHATINEED - over raced in the early and middle stages. Driver P Davis reported that he had been unable to activate the gelding's hopple shorteners.
DOWN TO THE BONE - broke in the middle stages of the score up and was a distance back at the start. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record.
Race 6   MAJESTIC SON SOUTH BAY TROTTERS CUP (HCP TROT)
PRES THE BELLE - trotted roughly after 200 metres and had to be steadied by driver T Williams. Broke near the 2000 metres.
VALLORIA - lay inwards on the final bend and dislodged several track markers.
DIDJABRINGTHEBEERS - broke shortly after the start.
BORDEAUX - tangled away. Broke near the 300 metres.
WAR MACHINE - slow in the early stages. Had difficulty maintaining its position through the middle stages. When questioned in regards to this driver R May explained that the gelding did not handle the track.
MONKEY'S WAY - trotted roughly rounding the final bend and again near the 400 metres when under pressure.
Race 7   ALABAR KAIKOURA CUP (STAND PACE)
OUR UNCLE SAM - broke at the start losing all chance.
CHECK IN - over raced through the middle stages.
CRUZ BROMAC - broke at the start.
NANDOLO - hampered by a breaking runner at the start. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room early in the run home.
Race 8   PGG WRIGHTSON NZ YSS AGED CLASSIC (HCP PACE)
HEISENBERG - shifted outwards in the early stages of the run home.
FRANCO HAMPTON - shifted outwards abruptly at the start hampering BETTORSTARTDREAMING. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record.
KRUIZR - paced roughly rounding the final bend and then broke near the 400 metres.
ARDEN ROANOKE - broke entering the first turn.
BETTORSTARTDREAMING - broke at the start and was then checked losing considerable ground.
SWEET MARY - over raced through the middle stages.
MILLWOOD MAIZIE - broke at the start.
Race 9   SPRINGSTON HOTEL MOBILE PACE
VINNIE RULZ - taken to a 3 wide position near the 1400 metres when LETTERKENNY BOY shifted outwards. Stewards questioned drivers B Hope and T Williams regarding this. It was established that VINNIE RULZ was not improving at the time and therefore no further action was taken.
IVANA FLYBYE - raced wide in the early stages.
LETTERKENNY BOY - held up in the early stages of the run home.
THREE IDEAS - held up in the early stages of the run home.
