Race Comments

Race 1   MATT & MARION HICKEY HANDICAP TROT
MACKERELLI - broke for a short distance near the 1800 metres.
LEESA CASTLETON - broke racing towards the 200 metres when leading losing considerable ground. Disqualified from fifth placing by the JCA for breaking in excess of 50 metres over the final 200 metres.
TAKENOPRISONERS - hung inwards on the final bend giving Driver Z Butcher considerable difficulty losing considerable ground in consequence. Continued to hang inwards throughout the final straight and was not able to be fully tested. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
STYLISH DUKE - weakened passing the 700 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had lost its tongue tie during the running and suffered a displacement of the soft palate.
THE REV - unable to maintain the leader's back near the 2100 metres which enabled TAKENOPRISONERS to shift down to fill the position.
SUNDONS FLYER - Driver B Orange reported that he had not activated the deafeners due to having the field covered.
Race 2   CAFE JACKO MOBILE PACE
CARSE O FERN CULLY - broke in the score up losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier record.
HE'S GRATIS - lay inwards leaving the back straight on the final occasion and then broke approaching the 400 metres when attempting to improve to the inside of TACTFUL REACTION. Driver B Taylor was shown the replay and spoken to advisedly regarding the manner in which he drove in this incident.
EMMI ROSE - raced roughly near the 700 metres.
TACTFUL REACTION - raced four wide approaching the 1000 metres after MACHTEER shifted ground outwards. It was established that Driver B Butcher (MACHTEER) had commenced his outward movement prior to TACTFUL REACTION covering his sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary. Shifted back in to three wide near the 700 metres.
Weakened near the 500 metres.
MACHTEER - over raced in the early stages and had to be steadied when awkwardly positioned close to the sulky of ABSOLUT RUSSIAN.
Race 3   MANELINE FARRIERS MOBILE PACE
SHAN ONE - lay in leaving the back straight the final time when attempting to improve three wide and then weakened. When questioned regarding the performance trainer S Doody advised the horse had been unsuited to having to race wide for a distance and in his opinion performs best when able to be driven with a sit.
I SAID IMRACN - paced roughly entering the first turn. Raced wide in the early stages.
LAVAZZA - held up on the final bend by weakening runners.
SARANDON - held up on the final turn and had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room until near the 150 metres.
Race 4   CARTOWN MOBILE PACE
MISTER MIGHTY - broke near the 300 metres losing its chance. A final warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
BENJAMIN BUTTON - broke near the 250 metres. Authorisation of the gelding's third placing was delayed until it was confirmed firstly the horse had not galloped further than is permissible and secondly that it had lost ground when in a gallop.
ONEDIN PUNTER - raced wide through the early stages. Lay outwards under pressure throughout the final straight.
ARTFILLY CRAFTED - over raced after making an unsuccessful attempt for the front near the 1250 metres.
AMARO - lay inwards on the final bend.
Race 5   COURTESY FORD MOBILE PACE
KARMIC WAY - broke near the 800 metres severely checking trailing runners. Stood down pending a satisfactory trial.
PAYMENT PLAN - broke at the start losing considerable ground and was retired from the event. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record.
MARIA KIRILENKO - checked and lost ground at the 800 metres. Weakened final stages. Driver J Abernethy reported the horse had travelled well until receiving a check at which point the mare had dropped the bit and lost ground.
VOODOO PRINCE - Driver B Orange reported that he did not release the gelding's deafeners due to having the field covered.
STEVIE LYNN - checked and lost ground at the 800 metres. Weakened final stages. Driver T Mitchell advised his runner to have hung throughout.
MATAI MINKY - checked and lost ground at the 800 metres.
MILNER - hampered near the 800 metres.
SCELTA UNO - checked and lost ground at the 800 metres.
Race 6   HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA COLE MOBILE PACE
IDEAL TIGER - hampered by a weakening runner between the 800 and the 700 metres.
CHANGEAROUND - gave ground near the 800 metres. A post race veterinary examination showed no apparent abnormality.
JINGLES BROMAC - broke near the 1750 metres when being eased as BURST OUT LAUGHING improved away from the marker line and lost its chance. When questioned regarding the incident Driver D Butcher stated that BURST OUT LAUGHING had been entitled to shift when it did however when he steadied his gelding to assume a position trailing that runner JINGLES BROMAC had failed to respond and broke free of interference. Accordingly the matter was taken no further other than to note the circumstances.
THE KAPITI EXPRESS - raced wide in the early stages. Over raced through the middle stages until being taken forward to lead near the 900 metres.
MUCHO MACHO MAN - paced roughly in the early stages.
BURST OUT LAUGHING - over raced in the middle stages. Shifted very wide entering the back straight on the final occasion. Driver K Blakemore reported the horse to have locked on the outside rein and caused her considerable difficulty throughout, which had worsened the further the race had gone. She added that she believed that had she allowed the horse to remain in the field it would have caused interference to other runners and it was the stable's intention to add a boring pole to the horse's gear. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing record.
Race 7   PALMERSTON NORTH GOLF CLUB MOBILE PACE
IAMTHEDREAM - broke in the score up and was back a length at dispatch. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier manners.
DEN'S LEGACY - raced roughly rounding the final turn.
RYANS GAL - gave ground from the 450 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
CHROMOZONE - over raced middle stages.
