Race 1   CR TRAINER OF THE NIGHT COMP STARTS TONIGHT MOBILE PACE
VANHALEM - over-raced middle stages.
ROMANITE - no claims lodged.
LYNTON CREEK - raced three wide throughout.
PEGASUS KOMMANDER - no claims lodged. Raced three wide early and middle stages before being restrained to the rear.
THE BATMOBILE - held up early final turn.
Race 2   DUNSTAN HORSE FEEDS MOBILE PACE
There was a 5 minute delay to the start at the request of the TAB.
CHARLOTTE ROYAL - a length out of position at the start. No action was taken due to the delay.
PARK AVENUE - held up final turn. Driver J Dickie momentarily dropped his foot from the sulky footrest when activating gear approaching the 100m.
THE KAPITI EXPRESS - raced three wide from near the 1200m.
LINCOLN MOMENT - held up final turn and then again near the 50m.
FLEETING GRIN - raced three wide early before being restrained entering the back straight the first time but was then taken forward again approaching the 1500m. Commenced to weaken from the 600m. When questioned regarding his driving tactics Junior Driver S Iremonger, assisted by J Dickie, explained that he had been instructed by connections to look to go forward to take up a handy position as the gelding was one paced however after initially working forward he had then been caught wide so elected to restrain when unable to secure a position in the one out running line. Mr Iremonger further stated that he felt the pace eased passing the 1600m so he attempted to improve forward but had then been obliged to race three wide without cover for the remainder after the pace quickened. After considering the matter Mr Iremonger was advised that he would be expected to show better judgement in future given similar circumstances.
GO TODDY - raced roughly in the score up. Held up rounding the final turn.
YOUNG CONQUEROR - raced three wide from near the 1200m.
Race 3   JOHN DEERE HANDICAP TROT
SECRETOFTHESEA SMILE - delayed the start after becoming fractious when called forward into line. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners. Held up by a tiring runner near the 400m.
SIR HENRY CASTLETON - raced keenly throughout.
THE LAST GAMBLE - held up final turn and early stages of the run home.
LUKYANOVA - weakened inside the 400m.
SAINT MICHEL - broke at the start losing ground. Tended to lay in rounding the bends. Held up until inside the final 120m. Driver N Chilcott advised that she did not activate the removeable deafeners as a result.
SUPERFAST NINJA - worked forward to lead near the 1600m before weakening inside the 400m. When questioned regarding the performance, Driver A Poutama advised that he was disappointed with the run after the mare had locked on the offside rein near the 1000m placing him at some disadvantage. Mr Poutama advised that it was his intention to freshen SUPERFAST NINJA and would advise Stewards should anything surface that would explain the disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.
LOVELY BUNDY - back several lengths at dispatch.
Race 4   P & M QUALITY PAINTERS MOBILE PACE
THE LONGEST DAY - paced roughly shortly after the start losing ground and inconvenienced trailing runners. A warning was placed on the filly's mobile barrier manners. Unable to maintain its position in the one out line rounding the first turn and was shifted down to the marker line. Improved along the passing lane early in the run home but was then held up inside the 100m.
DANCING CHICK - raced roughly under pressure late in the run home and broke shortly after the winning post.
SHEZA KAMIKAZE - inconvenienced shortly after the start.
JEMMA - inconvenienced shortly after the start.
Race 5   LOVERIDGE ENTERPRISE BUILDERS MOBILE PACE
MOLLY DOOKER - over-raced middle stages.
JIMMY FOX - paced roughly and then broke late in the score up causing a false start when checking a second row runner. Driver T Mitchell elected to maintain his allotted barrier position. Paced roughly and was slow early at the restart. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier manners. Paced roughly passing the 500m causing a chain reaction to go back through the one out running line. A warning was also placed on the gelding's racing manners.
FANTASIZE - checked and lost ground passing the 500m.
MHAI UPTOWN GIRL - raced three wide early. Checked passing the 500m.
OCEAN BEACH - raced three wide early and middle stages before crossing to race outside the leader near the 1500m. Checked and raced roughly passing the 500m.
PETER FORSBERG - inconvenienced shortly after the start.
MATAI MINKY - checked and lost ground passing the 500m.
ONEDIN PUNTER - checked and broke passing the 500m losing its chance.
RED ATOM - checked and raced roughly passing the 500m losing its chance.
Race 6   GAVELHOUSE.COM ENTRIES DUE NEXT WEDNESDAY MOBILE TROT
CREAMEE - broke at the 1300m and settled at the rear
FIRA - broke at the start and trailed the field throughout.
AS FREE AS AIR - Junior driver F Schumacher, assisted by P Ferguson, admitted a charge under Rule 869(4)(6)(b)(c) in that he shifted his mare out near the 1100m and forced HAVEHORSEWILLTRAVEL, which was improving to his outer, to race wider on the track. The JCA imposed a fine of $200.00. This mare raced in restricted room between the 1000m and the 800m before breaking near the 750m losing its chance. Mr Schumacher was also spoken to advisedly in relation to the manner in which he drove between the 1000m and 850m.
HAVEHORSEWILLTRAVEL - inconvenienced by a breaking runner shortly after the start. Commenced to improve three wide from the 1200m but was then forced four wide near the 1100m. Lay in near the 900m when attempting to improve. Stewards reviewed the replay footage with Junior driver Z Meredith, assisted by B Mangos, from the 1200m to the 800m in relation to Mr Meredith's obligations.
Race 7   LEISURECOM HOMES MOBILE PACE
STREET TALK - had to be restrained passing the 300m when placed in restricted room.
AWAITINGINSTRUCTIONS - over-raced middle stages. Driver T Cameron was cautioned for the manner in which he shifted ground near the 300m.
Race 8   TIRI'S PLAYHOUSE FUNDRAISER MOBILE PACE
BOLD RULER - late scratching at 6.28pm on veterinary advice.
FANCY SCHMANCY - raced fiercely middle stages. Held up early final turn.
WHITEHAVEN BEACH - raced three wide early and middle stages before crossing to race outside the leader near the 1500m. Unable to maintain the back of MAJOR BLINK near the 1000m which enabled LIVE REACTOR to shift down to gain that position. Commenced to weaken approaching the 700m.
ALLONBLACK - over-raced middle stages. Held up early final turn.
MAJOR BLINK - broke briefly in the early stages of the score up. Over-raced early when caught three wide before improving to race outside the leader approaching the 1200m. Over-raced again approaching the 1000m when LIVE REACTOR attempted to improve to its outer.
CARRERA SKY - held up briefly early in the run home.
Race 9   BIG XMAS DO DEC 5TH & 19TH MOBILE PACE
ROYAL - trailed on the outer before weakening from the 400m to finish in 8th place beaten 27 lengths. When questioned regarding the performance Trainer/Driver T MacFarlane could offer no explanation for the disappointing run. Stewards will follow up with connections regarding the gelding's recovery in coming days. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.
CAPTAIN MAX - raced roughly under pressure passing the 100m and had to be steadied.
NEW FRONTIER - raced three wide early.
ONE KOOL KAT - over-raced early after having been restrained to the rear. Weakened from the 400m.
COURTNEY JANE - over-raced middle stages. Held up early final turn.
Race 10   SEE YOU MELBOURNE CUP DAY TROT
EMPRESS OF THE SUN - broke at the start losing all chance.
MAJESTIC HARRY - broke at the start.
MOUNT ASPIRING - broke shortly after the start but soon settled. Broke passing the 1500m losing ground. Broke again passing the 700m and was retired from the event. This gelding was stood down pending a satisfactory trial.
CALL ME STU - slow early losing considerable ground and trailed the field.
UNCLE LOUIS - slow over the early stages.
