Co-Trainer M Purdon advised Stewards on 8 October that blood tests taken from AQUA SANCTA showed the colt to be pre-viral which explained the disappointing performance. |
Co-Trainer C Dalgety advised Stewards on 10 October that CARDINAL SIN has been treated for dehydration since racing at Addington last week and will continue with its current preparation. |
Race 5 - CANTERBURY PRINT SERVICE LTD TROTTING CUP (HANDICAP TROT) |
Trainer G Smith advised Stewards on 10 October 2019, that GREAT THINGS HAPPEN was found to have been suffering from a respiratory infection and is currently being treated for this. |
Race 7 - LAMB & HAYWARD CANTERBURY CLASSIC (STAND PACE) |
Co-Trainer G Hope advised Stewards on 10 October that following its performance at Addington last week, A G'S WHITE SOCKS has had its hocks treated and also has had treatment for a slight infection. Mr Hope further advised that it is his intention to start the gelding at Addington next Friday. |
Race 8 - WOODLANDS STUD MOBILE PACE |
Trainer S Telfer advised Stewards that some minor issues were identified in a blood test taken from FLYING STEPS with these issues resolved earlier this week. Mr Telfer added that the mare has since recovered well and had worked strongly on Tuesday. |

MAJESTIC SUNSET - lay inwards near the 900 metres and made the bend awkwardly losing some ground as a result. Again lay inwards entering the final bend when under pressure and could not be driven out by driver J Curtin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. When questioned regarding the performance, driver C Thornley could only advise he had been very disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed mucus in the airways following an endoscopic examination. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance. | |

ENGHIEN - trotted roughly under pressure on the bend near the 400 metres. When spoken to regarding the performance, driver R May advised the gelding to have travelled well throughout but proved disappointing once headed by WINTERFELL leaving the back straight. Co-trainer G Hope advised that in his opinion the gelding would derive benefit from tonight's run bearing in mind that it had not started since the 29th of September. | |
AMARETTO SUN - broke at the start losing ground. Trotted roughly for a short distance when taken inwards to access the passing lane near the 200 metres. | |
WINTERFELL - raced keenly through the middle stages and had to be steadied near the 1100 metres when awkwardly positioned close to the sulky of HEY YO. Hung inwards and struck a pylon leaving the final bend. |
