Race 8 - WOODLANDS STUD MOBILE PACE |
M Anderson (GHOSTWRITER) was questioned regarding his failure to improve his position throughout the run home between runners. Mr Anderson explained that he felt GEMMA MAC was laying outwards at the time and likely to crowd his runner had he attempted that run and so opted to drive more conservatively and look for a run elsewhere. Stewards advised Mr Anderson that in similar circumstances it was expected he drive in a more competitive manner and leave no room for query. Mr Anderson was also questioned and subsequently reprimanded for failing to attend a Stewards inquiry into this matter. |
Race 10 - AVON CITY FORD - RAPTOR MOBILE PACE |
Driver J Keast (ASCALABUS) was shown the films and spoken to advisedly for the manner in which drove near the 300 metres which caused an inside runner to race in restricted room. |

An investigation was held into this incident however after questioning drivers N Munro and B Wilmott, blame could not be attributed solely to either horse or driver and no further action was taken other than to note the circumstances. | |

JAMIES BAD BOY - broke approaching the 100 metres before settling just prior to the finishing line. Disqualified from 5th placing by the JCA for breaking in excess of 50 metres inside the final 200 metres. The gelding must now complete a satisfactory trial prior to resuming. | |
ROYAL JESTER - driver G Smith was questioned regarding the manner in which he drove near the 500 metres when he elected not to take the opportunity to follow MAGIC BLAZE forward when that gelding improved three wide. Mr Smith explained that he had been reluctant to follow MAGIC BLAZE at that stage as he felt that he would have been forced wide on the track when other runners improved to his inside which would have been to his detriment. Mr Smith's comments were noted. | |
SIMPLY DREAMING - improved forward passing the 1600 metres but then had to be driven along to cross to lead near the 1100 metres and was under pressure on the final turn before weakening out to finish at the rear. When questioned regarding the performance, trainer M Purvis advised he was disappointed with the effort and it was his intention to have the horse driven with a trail and saved for one run for its immediate future racing. |
