Junior Driver F Schumacher, assisted by T Mitchell, was questioned in relation to his decision to shift out off the back of TAKENOPRISONERS (leader) passing the 200m rather than look to utilise the passing lane which resulted in the mare being held up for some distance. Mr Schumacher stated that he had been aware that TAKENOPRISONERS had commenced to battle rounding the turn and was mindful of other runners improving wide so elected to shift out to follow GERSHWIN, which had headed TAKENOPRISONERS, rather wait on the passing lane and risk losing momentum. Mr Schumacher conceded that with hindsight it would have been the better option to wait on the passing lane given that he didn't have a clear run to the outside at the time he elected to shift. After considering the matter Stewards reprimanded Mr Schumacher and advised him that he would be expected to show better judgement given similar circumstances in the future.
