Invercargill HRC - Saturday, 21st September 2019
Race 2 - WELCOME TO OWNERS' DAY MOBILE PACE
Trainer B Williamson advised Stewards on 25 September that blood tests taken from SPORTS PAGE showed no abnormalities. Mr Williamson added that in his opinion the mare was in need of the run last week and has improved with the performance.
Race 7 - ASCOT PARK HOTEL JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
Trainer H Hunter advised Stewards on 25 September that IWANADANCEWITSUMBODY has recovered well following its run at Ascot Park last week with Mr Hunter of the opinion that the mare was not suited to the tempo of the race.
Race 9 - CONGRATULATIONS SETARIP SYNDICATE MOBILE PACE
RUNNING ON EMPTY - driver B McLellan was questioned regarding his decision to not shift wider near the 700 metres and away from the back of FRINGEBENEFIT which weakened causing him to be held up for some distance. Mr McLellan explained that his horse had been caught wide for a considerable distance when working forward to take up a prominent position. He added that his runner was not the sort of horse who was capable of working twice in its races and so at the time that he made the decision, he felt FRINGEBENEFIT was still travelling well enough to take him further into the race. He also advised that his horse had hung throughout and for this reason had made gear changes (adding go-straights) for today's race. The comments of Mr McLellan were noted by the Stewards.
