Race Comments
Race 1 HORSE SOLUTIONS & GLENWILLOW FEEDS MOBILE PACE | |
---|---|
ZULU COURAGE - weakened near the 1000 metres. Returned to the stable area with blood present in both nostrils and was deemed to be a bleeder. Stood down for the mandatory 30 days with a veterinary clearance including the results of a clear scope required prior to completing one satisfactory trial before resuming. Trainer B Negus advised the gelding would be retired. Driver M McIntyre reported she had not been able to activate the gelding's sliding blinds. Trainer B Negus was issued with a warning. | |
OPAWA MACH - held up final bend by a weakening runner. | |

GO GETTA - raced wide early stages. Held up final bend by a weakening runner. Driver R Reekie reported he had not been able to release the gelding's deafeners. Trainer B Negus was issued with a warning. | |

DEN'S LEGACY - underwent and passed a pre-race veterinary examination when the gelding appeared awkward in its gait at stages of its preliminary. The boring pole was removed prior to the start after breaking when assembling for the start. Broke shortly after the start when shifting inwards and making contact with the wheel of ZULU COURAGE. Driver M Stratford was issued with a warning for his carelessness. Despite the urgings of driver M Stratford the gelding was not able to hold its position behind ZULU COURAGE between the 1900 metres and the 1600 metres which enabled HIGHLAND REIGN to shift inwards from the three wide position and take up a covered run. Blundered and broke briefly near the 900 metres when attempting to shift outwards and made contact with the sulky wheel of HIGHLAND REIGN. Driver M Stratford advised he had difficulty steering his horse at this time without the boring pole. Mr Stratford was also questioned regarding his decision not to immediately follow HIGHLAND REIGN outwards at this time and instead attempt to retain a position behind the rapidly weakening ZULU COURAGE. Mr Stratford explained that his intention had been to shift outwards earlier but his horse had not responded as he expected causing him to become poorly positioned behind the weakening ZULU COURAGE. Despite his comments Mr Stratford was spoken to regarding the manner he had driven at this time and advised that it was expected he display a higher level of care. | |

EVERY OPTION - lay inwards when being driven forwards to assume the lead in the early stages. Struck pylons around the final bend Driver M Anderson will be spoken to in the coming days. | |

FRIEND - broke racing into the first bend when positioned to the inside of CHROMOZONE (T Chmiel) which was shifting down the track. Stewards questioned drivers T Chmiel and B Hope regarding this incident. Mr Hope explained that he initially intended to retain a position in the two wide line but steadied his runner when becoming closely positioned to the wheel of INVISIBLE GIRL and attempted to shift outwards but was not able to do so because of the presence of CHROMOZONE with those runners sulkies coming together in consequence. Driver T Chmiel explained that he had shifted inwards with FRIEND believing that runner was moving down to race on the pylons. Accordingly Stewards determined that no one driver was at fault and took the matter no further other than to remind both drivers to exercise care. |
