After considering his explanation, Stewards issued Mr Butt with a charge under Rule 868(2) alleging he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure he finished in the best position when finishing 2nd 0.2L from the winner. Mr Butt defended the charge however after hearing evidence and viewing the films, the JCA found the charge proved and suspended Mr Butt's Horseman's Licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 6 November 2019 (2 months) and in addition imposed a fine of $600.

Miss O'Reilly explained that her mare had been over-racing prior to this and when combined with the speed with which ISLA'S JOY was compounding, based her decision to shift outwards on safety reasons. Stewards also questioned driver C Jones who explained that whilst he had been taken wider he intended to shift forwards despite an opportunity to re-gain his original position. The matter was taken no further by Stewards.

Driver B Orange will be spoken to in the coming days.
MONBET - broke near the 700 metres after being shifted wider on the track by an inside runner.
