Race 1   EQUINOX RESTAURANT TROT
JUSTAN'S SISTER - Driver S Tomlinson reported the mare had trotted roughly in the home straight.
THE NIGHT SWEATS - broke near the 200 metres. Stewards lodged a Protest under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horse Regulations alleging the mare had broken in excess of 50 metres in the final 200 metres of the race. The Connections did not contest the protest with the JCA disqualifying the mare from 5th placing.
MAJESTIC ROSE - broke passing the 1400 metres then broke again near the 1300 metres losing all chance.
DEM BONES DEM BONES - broke passing the 1750 metres. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations.
Race 2   NZ HORSE TRANSPORT LTD MOBILE PACE
ELLNBAC - Driver B McLellan was issued with a Minor Infringement for driving with his foot out of the sulky rest through the early stages of the race and was fined $100. Held up for racing room in the early to middle stages of the home straight.
HONOUR SCROLL - raced wide early stages. Weakened from the 400 metres.
OPAWA MACH - Driver K Cameron admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted under Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations. After hearing submissions and reviewing the films the JCA imposed a fine of $200.
VIGOROSO - Driver D Simpson admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted under Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations. After hearing submissions and reviewing the films the JCA imposed a suspension from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 8th September 2019.
GLACIER COASTER - raced wide early stages.
CARLO GAMBINO - paced roughly near the 1500 metres due to a slight easing of the pace in the running line. Lay in entering the home straight. Driver C Ferguson admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted under Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations. After hearing submissions and reviewing the films the JCA imposed a fine of $200.
Race 3   NORWOOD FARM MACHINERY CENTRE PACE
The start was delayed by several minutes due to TOP POCKET CHANCE displaying poor barrier manners.
PHOEBE'S DELIGHT - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the home straight.
BEEN TO JENNY'S - broke shortly after the start. Weakened final bend.
SHE'S A REBEL - raced wide in the early stages until obtaining the lead near the 1600 metres. Lay in late in the home straight.
TOP POCKET CHANCE - a warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding after it caused a delay to the start of the race due to it's poor barrier manners. Raced wide into the first bend. Raced wide in the middle stages.
LOISSONYA - held up on the final bend. Crowded for racing room late in the home straight and had to be steadied by Driver N Williamson.
SHEZDAWON - lay in at various stages in the home straight.
ABSOLUT RUSSIAN - hampered by a breaking runner at the start. Raced wide final bend
ONEDIN SMILER - weakened final bend.
GALLEONS CONNOISSEUR - weakened from the 500 metres.
Race 4   OTAGO HARNESS RACING AWARDS 14TH SEPTEMBER MOBILE PACE
SMOKIN ANNIE - checked near the 200 metres.
CROSSO'S CULLECT - lay in at various stages throughout the event. Broke near the 200 metres checking trailing runners. A warning was placed on the mare's racing record.
BONNY'S GEM - over raced through middle stages. Checked near the 200 metres. Held up for racing room on the final bend and in the early stages of the home straight. Junior Driver A Cameron was shown the films and spoken to advisedly about the manner she drove at the 600 metres when electing not to improve her position wider on the track when an opportunity arose.
MACH O'MELLEY - hampered by breaking runner in the early stages of the home straight.
PLAY BY EAR - placed in restricted room after 150 metres. Lay in rounding the final bend making contact with several track markers.
HUCKABEE - late scratching at 10.15 am due to transport difficulties.
FORTY WIVES - Driver R Holmes was warned for the manner in which he drove after 150 metres when placing an inside runner in restricted room.
OLD LUKE - checked near the 200 metres and was forced inside the pylons for a short distance then was held up for a short distance thereafter.
RED ONYX - cleared from the unruly for future mobile starts. Checked near the 200 metres.
TACT MIESHA - Underwent a pre race Veterinary examination due to having not raced for a considerable period of time and was cleared to start. Slow to leave the pre race formation and back from the unruly at the start. Broke near the 300 metres. A post race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
Race 5   YALDHURST HOTEL MOBILE PACE
ISLA'S JOY - lay in and over-raced in the middle stages. Paced roughly and weakened from the 600 metres. Trainer/Driver R Cameron reported that the gelding had felt lethargic throughout and had hung badly. A post race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding was lame in the right hind leg. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance.
FUN IN THE DARK - hung inwards near the 200 metres and became awkwardly placed close to the sulky of SMARTER VC. Junior Driver M Hurrell when spoken to regarding the manner he drove around the final bend when SMARTER VC was able to improve to his inside. He advised that the mare was under pressure and hung outwards when passing roughly and had difficulty steering. Mr Hurrell was reminded of his obligations not to drive in a manner which leaves himself open to query.
LOMA JACCKA - held up in the early stages of the home straight and for clear racing room passing the 100 metres.
FLAME LADY - weakened on the final bend. When spoken to regarding the mare's performance Driver T Williams reported he could offer no explanation.A post race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards to follow up with connections in the coming days.
BRANTLEY - Trainer/Driver T Chmiel was issued with a warning for failing to affix the sliding blinds so as not to malfunction and also warned for failing to report his sliding blinds did not activate.
SMARTER VC - held up on the final bend. Junior Driver A Cameron (assisted by M Purvis) was shown the films and warned for the manner in which she used her whip. In taking this course of action Stewards were mindful of Miss Cameron's lack of race-day experience.
Race 6   RICOH HANDICAP TROT
PAT THE MONKEY - weakened final bend.
SVELT - weakened final bend.
BEST OF THE BUNCH - broke near the 2000 metres losing all chance. Stood down to complete one satisfactory trial.
AYUTTHAYA - trotted roughly passing the 200 metres and had to be steadied.
MISS BAMBOOCHA - broke after 100 metres losing all chance.
NEVERNEVERLAND - broke at the start.
ROBBIE ROYALE - broke after 100 metres losing all chance.
KING CASSIDY - broke near the 950 metres. Broke again near the 200 metres.
Race 7   DUNEDIN CITY MOTORS PACE
MARTIN MCGUINNESS - began awkwardly and shifted outwards at the start. Weakened final bend.
HURRICANE BANNER - placed in restricted room by inside runner at the start. Held up final bend.
G T REACTOR - weakened from the 500 metres. Driver T Chmiel was warned for using his whip when out of contention.
STAR PAIGE - hung inwards and paced roughly near the 1800 metres and had to be steadied. Hung inwards at various stages throughout the home straight.
ITZ A MAJOR BABE - broke at the start with a warning being placed on the mare's racing record. Paced roughly near the 550 metres when having to be steadied after a slight easing of the pace. The boring pole became detached from the horse's head during the running.
LAST HARAH - broke after 150 metres losing considerable ground. Briefly hamper at the start by inside runner passing the 400 metres.
ROCK ON - hampered near the 550 metres after a slight easing of the pace. Held up rounding final bend before failing to run on. Driver M Anderson could offer no tangible explanation when spoken to regarding the performance of the mare.
THABOYZ TOY - tangled away and was slow in the early stages. Held up by tiring runner on the final bend.
FRANK THE TANK - raced wide in the early stages.
HANNITY - late scratching at 10.15 am due to transport difficulties.
Race 8   FATHERS DAY AT FORBURY PARK 1ST SEPTEMBER MOBILE PACE
ALEXY - held up final bend. Lay outwards near the 300 metres and broke when briefly placed in restricted room.
IDEAL ASSET - lay inwards through the early stages. Held up rounding the final bend.
SADHANA - weakened on the final bend. Lay in contacting several track markers. Junior Driver J Morrison was warned for the manner he used his whip prior to the 400 metres.
POSSENTE CAVALLO - hung inwards final bend.
FIRST SON - held up rounding the final bend and then briefly hampered by a breaking runner exiting final bend.
