Race 6 - AVON CITY FORD-PURCHASE YOUR FORD FIESTA MOBILE PACE
The connections of WOODLEA SHAWN advised Stewards on 31 July that blood tests taken following its run at Addington last week revealed slight muscle tie up. They added that the gelding has improved this week and are confident of an improved showing at Addington this Friday.

Race 1   SPECTATORS BAR & BISTRO (AMATEUR DRIVERS) MOBILE PACE
ZULU COURAGE - hung inwards through the early stages.
KRUIZR - raced keenly in the early and middle stages before being taken around the field to race in the open. Lay inwards leaving the final bend crowding the racing room of RAH DE RAH.
MY NIKAYLA - briefly locked wheels with AVEROSS FERRARI after contesting a position near the 2200 metres. Weakened final bend. Driver D Stapleton was unable to offer any explanation for the mare's disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
POCKET CALL - no claims were lodged.
RAH DE RAH - shifted outwards leaving the final bend when driver M Maynard attempted to activate the deafeners and became awkwardly positioned close to the sulky of KRUIZR with the gelding having to be steadied. Driver M Maynard reported he had not been able to release the gelding's deafeners and Trainer D Paterson was issued with a warning for failing to affix the gear correctly.
RUSSIAN EXPRESS - driver A Edge's foot slipped from the sulky footrest near the 100 metres when driving his runner out resulting in accidental contact with the hind leg of his horse. Notwithstanding this Mr Edge was warned to ensure this does not occur in future.
AVEROSS FERRARI - briefly locked wheels with MY NIKAYLA after contesting a position near the 2200 metres.
UNICO ENCHANTRESS - broke in the score up losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
FYNN FROST - raced wide through the early stages.
Race 2   BREEDERS THANK THE MET MOBILE PACE
THE DUDE - broke in the early stages of the score up however was able to take up its allocated position at the start. Broke again shortly after the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
FLYIN MILLY MAC - weakened over the final stages. Co-trainer C Dalgety explained the mare was now retired from racing.
AROCKNATTHEPARK - when spoken to regarding the performance, driver G Smith reported the gelding had raced lethargically throughout and he had been very disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer P Kerr advised he would have blood tests taken in the coming days and Stewards will follow up the results.
SWEET LORESS - hung inwards in the score up despite the efforts of driver K Butt and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Lay outwards in the final straight and in consequence had difficulty obtaining clear racing room.
Race 3   MARTIN CUMMINGS VALUER TROT
Prior to this race the track was downgraded to good.
THE EYE OF THE TIGER - broke near the 1550 metres. Again broke passing the 1000 metres.
IT WASN'T ME - broke after 100 metres. Held up by weakening runners between the 800 metres and 600 metres.
FAST WET N WINDEE - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
MIDNIGHT MEMORIES - broke in the early stages. Weakened final bend.
MIDSUMMER QUEEN - hung inwards and weakened final bend.
WHO ME - began awkwardly. Weakened final bend.
PETULA CLARK - broke racing into the first bend.
SHEZA MIGHTY MONARCH - hampered by a breaking runner at the start. Trotted roughly in the early stages. Broke after 150 metres when shifting ground outwards to avoid a breaking runner.
Race 4   CHRISTINE & PHIL SMITH MOBILE PACE
MRS WASHINGTON - held up by a weakening runner near the 600 metres.
JIVE - held up by a weakening runner near the 600 metres. Weakened final bend.
CARITA - over-raced passing the 1200 metres when being restrained to obtain cover.
CHANGEAROUND - weakened near the 600 metres. When questioned regarding the performance, driver T Williams could only advise he had been disappointed with the gelding's efforts. Trainer M Kerr was also unable to offer any explanation but advised it was his intention to have blood tests taken. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an elevated heart rate and poor recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
TIGER MOTH - slow to leave the pre-race formation and was back from the unruly at the start.
Race 5   STUDHOLME BLOODSTOCK YEARLINGS PACE
BICTON - broke at the start losing all chance.
HELENKA FRANCO - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
ULTIMATE SWIFT - trainer D Keast was issued a $50 Minor Infringement for being late to notify the mare would race without blinds.
DUKE - raced four wide passing the 1300 metres.
CLACHANBURN - over-raced when attempting to surrender the lead to HARMONY DELIGHT near the 1100 metres.
MALDITO - weakened from the 500 metres.
SCARED STIFF - raced wide from the 1000 metres. Trainer/driver T Chmiel advised the gelding in his opinion had not backed up from its race at Oamaru on the 28th of July.
Race 6   REMEMBERING BILL ROBERTS HANDICAP TROT
There was a slight delay to the start when WITH ICE had to return to the stables to replace the boring pole.
MOMENTOUS - trainer A Garters was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice after the off hind bandage came adrift.
QUAESTOR - broke shortly after the start losing all chance and was retired from the race.
UNIQUE MARSHALL - broke near the 2100 metres losing all chance and was retired from the race.
SPY DA MOMENT - trotted roughly and then broke in the early stages. Driver K Cox admitted using her whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations and her Horsewoman's Licence was suspended by the JCA from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 16 August 2019 (2 days).
RENEZMAE - broke briefly shortly after the start having to be restrained. Broke near the 600 metres when improving wide on the track.
ZEDDIE MARIT - broke shortly after the start losing ground. Trotted roughly final bend.
MEDUSA - broke after 100 metres losing all chance.
HEY YO - hampered by a breaking runner after 100 metres. Weakened final bend.
Race 7   LONESTAR RICCARTON HANDICAP PACE
UPTOWN LADY - pre-race warmed. Raced fiercely through the middle stages and when racing past the 900 metres could no longer be restrained by driver S Ottley with the mare making contact with the sulky of SECRET BET, galloping in consequence and shifting outwards onto the wheel of DOITSON and briefly blundering to the track shortly after. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the right hock and surrounding gravel abrasion requiring treatment. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance and then one satisfactory trial.
SECRET BET - began awkwardly.
SANTANNA MACH - checked near the 850 metres.
OVERARM - driver T Chmiel admitted using his whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations and his Horseman's Licence was suspended by the JCA from the conclusion of racing on 4 August up to and including 16 August 2019 (3 days).
GOD ONLY KNOWS - heavily checked near the 850 metres losing considerable ground.
QUEEN OF GLORY - broke at the start. Raced roughly after 100 metres having to be steadied. Held up in the early stages of the run home having to shift ground outwards to continue to improve. Paced roughly in the home straight.
QUEENOFDANCE - broke at the start. Heavily checked near the 850 metres losing considerable ground.
FLAMBOYANT - raced fiercely when being restrained near the 1100 metres to surrender the parked position. Checked near the 850 metres.
HOMEBUSH LAD - heavily checked near the 850 metres losing considerable ground.
Race 8   ALABAR (JUNIOR DRIVERS) MOBILE PACE
IWANADANCEWITSUMBODY - late scratching on veterinary advice prior to the start due to being lame in the left front foot. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance.
BAKARI - broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Over-raced middle stages. Hung inwards throughout the home straight causing driver S Diamant difficulty. Ms Diamant will be spoken to by the Stewards regarding her failure to notify them of the non activation of her gear.
KIWIS ARE FLYING - struck several markers leaving the final bend when racing to the inside of FLYING MISTER IDEAL which was shifting down the track. Driver M Hurrell was spoken to regarding this.
FLYING MISTER IDEAL - Junior driver K Newman (assisted by M Jones) was issued with a warning for the manner in which he eased the pace after crossing to the lead approaching the 2000 metres. As a consequence to this all trailing runners had to be steadied. Mr Newman was also spoken to regarding the manner in which he shifted ground leaving the final bend.
THE MAROON MARAUDER - raced wide early stages. Lay outwards and over-raced through the back straight on the first occasion causing driver L McKay some difficulty.
COPPERHEAD ROSE - over-raced early stages. Stewards spoke with junior driver S Thornley regarding the manner in which he used his whip inside the final 400 metres. Mr Thornley, who was assisted by Senior Horseman R Holmes, was advised that the matter would be adjourned until Stewards had the opportunity to liaise with the HRNZ licensing and education department.
KARDESLER - over-raced middle stages.
Race 9   PI & PM RENWICK BLOODSTOCK TROT
Prior to this race the track was downgraded to slushy.
The start was delayed five minutes due to an alarm sounding in the main stand.
SHPEEDY - broke shortly after the start. Authorisation of the mare's promoted 4th placing was withheld until it was confirmed there had been no breach of the Breaking Horse Regulations.
MAJESTIC SUNSET - trotted roughly and then broke in the early stages and was unable to be restrained by driver J Young for a considerable distance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
MAUDARCHY - broke near the 1050 metres losing all chance.
WINDSOR - broke shortly after the start. Disqualified from 4th placing by the JCA for galloping in excess of 150 metres in the early stages.
DIANA HARBOUR - hung inwards and struck pylons final bend.
RUSTY I AM - held up for clear racing room leaving the final bend.
TOPNOTCH EAGLE - raced wide early stages. Weakened final bend.
CHIVASION - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
Race 10   CUP WEEK HOSPITALITY PACKAGES ON SALE MOBILE PACE
EXPRESSO DENARIO - raced wide early stages. Paced roughly approaching the 600 metres having to be steadied. Hung inwards throughout the home straight and was unable to be fully driven out.
DYNAMO - awkwardly placed close to the wheel of WOODLEA SHAWN near the 900 metres and had to be steadied.
ALL NUTS N BOLTS - raced wide early stages.
SNOW PRINTZ - held up final bend. Paced roughly near the 100 metres and had to be steadied.
AMORE LANCOME - driver B Butt was spoken to regarding the manner he drove near the 900 metres when he shifted from the three wide line to the parked position and in doing so crowded the racing room of ALL NUTS N BOLTS which caused an easing of the pace to the two wide line.
IMMORTAL CHANGE - raced wide from the 800 metres.
