Race 8 - DUNEDIN CITY MOTORS MOBILE PACE |
Stewards questioned horseman D Simpson (VIGOROSO) regarding the tactics he adopted when electing not to take a wider run prior to the 420 metres when the opportunity was available, instead retaining his position in the two wide line which led to him later having difficulty obtaining clear racing room. Mr Simpson explained that the horse only has a short sprint of up to 150 metres and is best saved for one last run. Trainer D O'Connell was also questioned regarding the drive. He confirmed the instructions which had been given and the reasons for them. After reviewing the previous starts of the gelding, and making further inquiries it was deemed the drive was consistent with the previous handling of the gelding and determined Mr Simpson's actions were reasonable in the circumstances. Therefore the matter was taken no further. |
