Trainer N Chilcott advised FERRITTS SISTER has had its fetlocks injected subsequent to the meeting and was continuing with its preparation.
Auckland TC - Friday, 12th July 2019
Race 7 - GILBERT SHEETMETALS HANDICAP PACE
Mr Herlihy advised Stewards that THE MOONSHADOW skipped away for a couple of strides from its 20 metre handicap mark and was slower away than normal. He attempted to shift off the running line approaching the first turn but was kept inside by JUICE BROGDEN. As a result he eased to the rear of the 7 horse field approaching the 2000 metres and from that point on the race was run at a good tempo with M T POCKETS racing outside the leader. The field quickened inside the 800 metres (57.4 sec) making it difficult to improve wide so he elect to improve inside on the running line rounding the final turn, momentarily held up by the weakening OHOKA JOHNNY approaching the 200 metres and again late in the run to the finishing line. Stewards accepted his explanation.
