Race 1   TINWALD TAVERN TROT
DD'S SUPER STUART - trainer C Markham was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice after DD'S SUPER STUART was presented without the notified pacifier. Broke at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 500 metres.
NEVER MIND - trainer T Yesberg was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for failing to affix the hind bandages so as not to come adrift.
PETULA CLARK - broke racing into the first bend losing all chance.
MAJESTIC ACTION - over-raced middle stages. Held up early stages of the run home. The removable deafeners failed to activate due to the cord breaking. Driver B Crothers was issued with a warning for failing to report this at the earliest opportunity.
AWESOME IMPEE - broke at the start losing all chance.
PASSEPARTOUT - hampered by a breaking runner at the start. Held up early stages of the run home.
PASTRANA - hampered by a breaking runner racing into the first bend. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 500 metres.
JAGUAR BAY - broke at the start. Lay inwards near the 1000 metres making contact with track markers. Broke near the 500 metres.
DR CLIFF - broke near the 200 metres. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
Following this race the track was upgraded to Easy.
Race 2   RAY WHITE ASHBURTON MOBILE PACE
FORTY WIVES - held up final bend and early stages of the run home.
MILLIETHEPIPER - slightly out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver S McNally.
YORKSHIRE - driver C Thornley advised the removable deafeners were not activated due to having the field covered.
CARITA - driver J Morrison reported the removable deafeners failed to fully activate after the clip on the cord had broken. This gear was inspected and found to be in previously satisfactory condition.
CHANGEAROUND - over-raced throughout.
Race 3   CATES GRAIN & SEED PACE
MALDITO - held up early stages of the run home. Driver M Williamson reported he sustained a punctured sulky tyre near the 600 metres.
MEGAROCK - over-raced final bend and struck the wheel of MALDITO near the 600 metres.
FRANCO GARRETT - broke briefly at the start.
GENELIS - began awkwardly.
SUPREME LINCOLN - crowded at the start.
DALNESS ARIZONA - fractious prior to the start.
MY DESIGN - raced wide early stages. Over-raced near the 1000 metres when being restrained to obtain cover.
KUSANOVA - broke at the start after coming together with ONLY IN AMERICA. Paced roughly and broke for a short distance near the 1900 metres. Broke briefly again passing the 1150 metres. Driver B Orange reported the filly had been hanging.
ONLY IN AMERICA - came together with KUSANOVA briefly at the start.
MY NIGHT SKY - slow to begin.
ABBY GOLIGHTLY - weakened final bend.
MAGICAL MALI - raced four wide from the 700 metres.
Following this race the track was upgraded to Good.
Race 4   BRENT WHITE RACING / TURF BAR HANDLE CLUB 2YO MOBILE PACE
SILENT RAPTURE - hung outwards rounding the first bend.
WILLISON - broke in the score up however recovered to take up its allocated position at the start. Held up final bend.
ZAMBIA - over-raced passing the 800 metres when being restrained to obtain cover. Held up early stages of the run home. Broke briefly near the 200 metres. Driver J Morrison reported that the gelding had taken fright when he had activated the sliding blinds.
Race 5   MORGAN FENCING FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
TEAM KIWI - paced roughly shortly after the start.
FLYIN MILLY MAC - weakened from the 600 metres. When questioned regarding the performance, driver J Curtin advised that in his opinion the mare may have tied up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed muscle soreness over the back. Stewards will follow up with the connections in the coming days.
IDEAL RULE - held up by a weakening runner final bend.
NANELLE FRANCO - over-raced early and middle stages.
LA BELLA VITA - broke near the 1300 metres when being shifted inwards by IDEAL RULE. After questioning drivers K Butt (IDEAL RULE) and B Weaver, Stewards issued B Weaver with a charge alleging he had driven carelessly in this incident when failing to concede his position. Mr Weaver admitted the breach and after submissions on penalty, the JCA imposed a fine of $300.
Race 6   GARY MCCORMICK TRANSPORT ASHBURTON WINTER CUP (HCP PACE)
BOUND TO IMPRESS - held up middle stages of the home straight.
PROVISEUR - held up early in the run home.
ISLA'S JOY - driver R Cameron reported the gelding had over-raced through the middle stages.
BAKARI - broke at the start. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts.
UNICO ENCHANTRESS - broke at the start losing all chance and was retired from the event.
SWEET MARYLOU - slow to begin.
OVERARM - over-raced middle stages.
KIWIS ARE FLYING - broke at the start.
PAUL'S VERDICT - broke at the start.
Race 7   DOUG MCCORMICK MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROT
RUSTY I AM - broke at the start. Weakened final bend.
REDWOOD INVASION - over-raced final bend.
DON'T LOOK BACK - held up early stages of the run home.
WINDSOR - held up early stages of the run home.
TRICKY RASTUS - broke near the 2000 metres. Weakened final bend. Broke near the 300 metres.
SHE AINT NO ANGEL - slow to begin. Trotted roughly at various stages during the running.
DOLLY JONES - switched to a pace shortly after the start losing all chance. Stood down to complete one satisfactory trial.
VALLEY STAR - hampered by a breaking runner in the early stages.
GIRLS LET LOOSE - broke near the 1800 metres. Broke again near the 300 metres.
Race 8   FARMLANDS ASHBURTON SOCIAL CLUB MOBILE PACE
ROCKNROLL KING - paced roughly in the run home and broke inside the 200 metres. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Stewards lodged a protest under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the gelding had broken in excess of 50 metres inside the final 200 metres. The connections did not contest the protest and ROCKNROLL KING was disqualified from 3rd placing by the JCA.
BARKLEY - over-raced near the 1300 metres.
EJA PATRON - held up final bend.
MY NIKAYLA - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver K Butt. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
SAGINAW - broke after 150 metres checking outside runner. A warning was placed on the racing record of the colt. Broke again near the 200 metres.
FRANCO RIOT - checked by a breaking runner after 150 metres.
FLYINGMASTERWILLIAMS - held up final bend.
BETTOR ROCK AGAIN - held up final bend.
BIRD OF PARADISE - out of position at the start after being inconvenienced by MY NIKAYLA.
MOTORING MAJOR - slightly out of position at the start. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 200 metres.
