Stable representative B Hope advised Stewards on 21 June that UNICO LEGEND has recovered well since racing at Oamaru last week and has won a workout in preparation for a return to racing at Addington next Friday.

Race 1   CRAFAR CROUCH CONSTRUCTION TROT
GOTTA TICKET - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
THE NIGHT SWEATS - broke at the start and trailed the field throughout.
MILLY AN EYRE - broke over the concluding stages and continued in a break over the finish line. Stewards lodged a Protest under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation against 4th placing being awarded to the mare alleging that it had broken in excess of 50 metres in the final 200 metres. Driver S Ottley did not contest the Protest and MILLY AN EYRE was disqualified by the JCA.
MAJESTIC ACTION - became actious prior to the start causing a delay. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
MUCHACHA BONITA - late scratching at 11.08am on veterinary advice. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance.
DR CLIFF - became fractious prior to the start causing a delay. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
Race 2   TYRE GENERAL BLENHEIM MOBILE PACE
JESSIE KELLY - held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
SWISH - weakened from the 500 metres. Driver K Gill reported the mare had failed to handle the track conditions and had paced roughly throughout.
DELMA CRAZE - raced wide in the early stages.
HANDS UP JACK - lay inwards near the 250 metres and had to be corrected. Shifted inwards under pressure over the final stages.
Race 3   'PRODIGAL SEELSTER' PASSING LANE MOBILE PACE
BONNY'S GEM - over-raced through the middle stages.
JUST HOLLA - over-raced through the early stages. Weakened from the 600 metres. When spoken to regarding the performance driver J Dunn advised that the gelding had failed to handle the track conditions.
MR SIMPLY THE BEST - weakened from the 400 metres.
POCKET ROCKNROLL - weakened final stages.
Race 4   SPEIGHTS MOBILE PACE
The track was upgraded to Easy prior to the start of this race.
SHE'S OUTSTANDING - weakened final bend.
DONEGAL CARNBOUY - weakened final bend.
JULIE JOHNSTON - raced wide early stages. Weakened from the 1000 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the mare.
IREBY MEG -weakened from the 1000 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the mare. Trainer M Purvis advised that the horse would no longer race from his stable.
Race 5   GILL CONSTRUCTION HANDICAP PACE
The start time of this race was changed to 1.43pm at the request of the TAB.
RIPSNORTER - broke at the start and trailed the field throughout.
PINE CONE - held up early stages of the run home.
GIVE HIM A CHANCE - reared prior to the barriers being released. Broke at the start for a considerable distance Driver S Anderson was questioned in relation to the manner in which he had driven over the early stages. Mr Anderson explained that a hopple shortener had become dislodged when the gelding reared prior to the start being declared and that he had then attempted to activate the remaining shortener shortly after the start. After considering the matter Mr Anderson was reminded of his obligations to make a greater effort to restrain his runner to return it to its correct gait given similar circumstances in the future.
BORN TO RUN - fractious prior to the start causing a delay.
AROCKNATTHEPARK - broke at the start but soon settled. When spoken to regarding the performance driver G Smith advised the gelding did not handle the track conditions.
Race 6   GROVE TAVERN MOBILE PACE
BEAUDIENE OVERTAKE - broke briefly near the 1900 metres.
DIXIE REIGN - hampered by a breaking runner rounding the first bend.
BADGER'S GIRL - hampered by a breaking runner rounding the first bend. Weakened final bend.
CONQUISTADOR - out of position at the candy pole. Driver J Dunn was issued with a warning. Raced wide in the early stages.
NATURAL FIRE - out of position at the candy pole. Driver M Edmonds was issued with a warning. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Weakened from the 400 metres.
Race 7   SUBWAY MARLBOROUGH LINES STADIUM 2000 HANDICAP TROT
ALDEBARAN BONNY - broke with 200 metres to run checking trailing runners. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
CHAMPAGNE PRINCE - lay outwards in the run home.
MADELEINE STOWE - held up final turn and early stages of the run home. When questioned regarding his decision not to shift out from a trailing position in the one out running line prior to being covered near the 700 metres, driver B Orange explained that he elected not to shift wider at this stage due to the mare tending to hang badly rounding the bends. Mr Orange further stated that he had been able to shift VALLEY STAR wider on the track near the 500 metres but had then lay in losing the advantage over that runner and as a result had then been held up through the early stages of the run home. After considering his explanation, Stewards took the matter no further.
REDWOOD INVASION - commenced to shift away from the marker line near the 1850 metres but was then taken back down on to the marker line which placed CLIFDEN CLOWERS in restricted room briefly. Checked and broke for several strides passing the 200 metres.
UNIQUE MARSHALL - broke at the start and lost all chance. Placed on the unruly for future stands at the Trainer's request.
IDEAL INVASION - broke after 200 metres. Stewards lodged a Protest under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulations alleging the gelding broke in excess of 150 metres over the early stages. Junior driver S O'Reilly (assisted by C DeFilippi) did not contest the Protest and IDEAL INVASION was disqualified from 4th placing by the JCA.
CLIFDEN CLOWERS - placed in restricted room briefly near the 1850 metres. Held up in the early stages of the run home and was then checked losing some ground.
Race 8   MARLBOROUGH EXPRESS MOBILE PACE
BONNIE BOY - broke at the start and settled at the rear. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier manners. Lay in rounding the bends and over the early stages of the run home.
TROMPEUR - driver S Anderson was cautioned for failing to have his gelding in position at the candy pole in the score up.
THAT ALEXANDER GUY - held up early stages of the run home.
EASTWOOD CHIEFTAIN - weakened badly from the 600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had suffered an atrial fibrillation. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance including a satisfactory ECG. Trainer D Pearce advised the gelding would be retired from racing.
Race 9   WAIRAU COVERS MARLBOROUGH WINTER CUP PRELUDE (HCP PACE)
PADDYPROUDFOOT - over-raced through the middle stages.
LINTON SHARD - trainer M Anderson was issued a $50 Minor Infringement Notice after being late to notify the gelding would be racing with blinds.
SOCIABLE - broke at the start and settled at the rear. A warning was placed on the barrier record of this mare.
BAILEYS KNIGHT -over-raced through the middle stages.
Race 10   SUPER LIQUOR GROVE ROAD MOBILE PACE
SNOW PRINTZ - over-raced through the early stages when being restrained to obtain a trailing position. Continued to over-race through the middle stages. Driver B Hope was spoken to advisedly in relation to a rein dragging on the track through the middle stages.
LYDIA - broke briefly in the score up but was able to retain its position. Raced wide in the early stages.
FRANCO TEXAS - over-raced middle stages. A breast plate strap came adrift during the running after a clip had broken. No action was deemed necessary.
GIVEMEWHATINEED - lay outwards in the home straight.
