Invercargill HRC - Monday, 3rd June 2019
Race 3 - SOUTHERN OCEAN SAFETY EQUIPMENT LTD PACE
Trainer C Ferguson advised Stewards on 7 June that ARCHMAN has recovered well following its run at Ascot Park on Monday and will continue with its current preparation.
Race 6 - SOUTH PORT NZ LTD BLUFF CUP HANDICAP PACE
Stewards questioned driver B Williamson (DELIGHTFUL DEAL) regarding the driving tactics he adopted through the middle stages of the race when electing to shift outwards from a position three back on the marker line. Mr Williamson explained that his intention had been to improve forward at this stage of the race to a position closer to the pace however once he shifted ground the leader FRANCO SANTINO had increased the speed of the race significantly, resulting in his runner being left flat footed. Mr Williamson added that after activating gear the mare had failed to respond to his urgings and had weakened noticeably on the final bend. After considering the explanation tendered and reviewing the sectionals of the race, Stewards took the matter no further.
