LAST SEQUENCE - held up on the final bend and had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early stages of the run home. | |
HE WAS ROMEO - held up on the final bend. Trotted roughly near the 350 metres. Again trotted roughly at the 200 metres. | |
KENSINGTON BILL - trotted roughly near the 1900 metres and as a result had difficulty maintaining a position near the body of the field. Continued to race roughly on occasions thereafter. When spoken to regarding the geldings performance Driver S McNally could only advise the gelding to have trotted roughly throughout and proved disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. | |

KATAMACH - permission was granted for the mare to race without the notified anti-choke device. When questioned regarding the mares improved performance Trainer S Dickson explained that at the mares last two starts she had over raced and choked down. Because of this they had intended to race with an anti-choke device today, however it was unable to be correctly affixed and so was removed. He added that the solid pace of todays race meant the mare was able to relax and race more tractably. Mr Dickson was issued with a warning for applying the sliding blinds in a manner which lead them to malfunction. | |
ARCANO - under pressure near the 500 metres and weakened soon after. | |
JULIE JOHNSTON - raced wide in the early stages. Hung inwards when being taken forward near the 1700 metres causing Driver R Holmes some difficulty with him having to race wider for longer than anticipated in consequence. | |
JINGLES BROMAC - badly held up around the final bend by a tiring runner. | |
MORDECAI - when spoke to regarding the geldings performance Driver K Tomlinson was unable to offer any explanation for the performance. | |
ASTUTO - raced wide early stages. Over raced throughout and then weakened near the 600 metres. A post race veterinary examination showed no significant findings other than an elevated heart rate. | |
MISTER MIGHTY - broke near the 500 metres when placed in restricted room between the tiring ASTUTO and MORDECAI which was inclined to lay inwards. Despite this Stewards showed Junior Horseman K Newman the films and reminded him to exercise care. |

Continued to lay outwards and race keenly throughout. A warning was placed on the geldings racing record. Trainer B White requested the horse be drawn unruly for its standing start race on Sunday. | |
STINGER LINDENNY - held up on the final bend by a tiring runner. | |
UNICO ENCHANTRESS - Driver B Hope reported that he had accidentally dropped his whip during the running. | |

BORN TO RUN - weakened at the 400 metres after improving wide in the middle stages. Trainer/Driver M Purvis could only advise he was disappointed with the geldings efforts. A post race veterinary examination showed no apparent abnormalities. | |
WESTAR SAM - held up in the early and middle stages of the run home. Driver D Butcher advised that because of this he was unable to release the geldings deafeners. Briefly locked wheels near the 50 metres. Escaped from driver D Butcher leaving the birdcage following the race. Inspected by the Veterinarian and found to have sustained some minor grazing. This horse will be re-examined prior to racing on Sunday. D Butcher was unharmed in this incident. |
