Race 5   INVERCARGILL LICENSING TRUST JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
MISS FANDANGO - when spoken to regarding the performance and the tactics he adopted in the middle stages junior driver J Morrison advised the mare had lacked its usual gate speed and due to this he elected to restrain in the hope of gaining cover through the early stages. Mr Morrison added when this did not eventuate he elected to take a position on the marker line as the mare is best driven for one run. When further questioned regarding the reason he elected to maintain his position on the running line as opposed to pulling outwards when the two wide line progressed forward near the 1400 metres Mr Morrison explained that given it was a small field he felt he would be able to improve outwards at some stage down the back straight and be carted into the race. This did not eventuate due to inability of LOVE THE BLUES to progress forward on his outside. Notwithstanding this Mr Morrison expressed his disappointment with the performance adding that the mare had felt lethargic from the 600 metres. Mr Morrison's comments were duly noted. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the mare in the coming days.
MISS WAIKIWI - raced keenly in the middle stages.

After viewing replays and hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $200.
KAGEE VC - hung inwards and lost ground rounding the first bend.
THE RED ROBBER - lay inwards exiting the final bend and early in the run home.
