PERAKI REACTOR - briefly locked wheels with DIE STANDING near the 850 metres. Held up final bend and in the early stages of the run home. Stewards questioned driver S Ottley regarding her decision to not continue to shift outwards prior to the 600 metres after having worked into the two wide line passing the 1000 metres. Miss Ottley explained that through her runner displaying no gate speed she had become positioned further back than she had anticipated. She said that her runner was a two year old having only its second career start and the intention was that the horse should be driven with a sit where circumstances permit, for those reasons. Miss Ottley added that the outside runner, DIE STANDING, had lay inwards and locked her wheel causing it to deflate and then caused her some inconvenience by continuing to lay inwards. She also felt that this runner would have peaked on its run far earlier than had eventuated and weakened allowing her clear passage. After considering her explanation Stewards noted her comments and took the matter no further.

Driver J Sheenan admitted a breach of Rule 869(4) in that he drove in a manner likely to cause interference when he attempted to regain his position after being legitimately shifted wider. After viewing the films and hearing penalty submissions, the JCA suspended Mr Sheenan's Horseman's Licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 2 June 2019 and in addition imposed a fine of $150.
