Broke in the early stages, proving difficult to restrain for driver T Robertson and was retired from the event. GOTTA GOOD LOOKER - paced roughly and broke shortly after the start, being retired from the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a near fore tendon injury. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to GOTTA GOOD LOOKER resuming. | |
MATINEE IDOL - over-raced through the middle stages when leading. Weakened from the 700 metres. | |
VENETO - raced three-wide before being restrained to the rear near the 1000 metres. Weakened from the 800 metres. | |

Broke again passing the 300 metres when hanging inwards, becoming awkwardly placed and striking the sulky wheel of SHERRY BABY. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. | |
MISS WAIKIWI - inconvenienced by a breaking runner shortly after the start. Lay inwards on various occasions during the running. | |
VINTAGE ROSE - hung inwards negotiating the first bend inconveniencing IWANADANCEWITSUMBODY. | |
IWANADANCEWITSUMBODY - inconvenienced rounding the first bend. Held up for clear racing room leaving the final bend and again in the latter stages of the home straight. Junior driver E Barron reported the removable deafeners applied to the mare failed to activate despite her efforts. | |

RNR WINDERMERE - when questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance junior driver S Tomlinson advised that the mare had been held up for clear racing room at its most recent start and had benefited from a favourable draw and being able to lead throughout today. | |
TARTAN ROBYN - placed SQUARE DEALER in restricted room near the 1500 metres causing that gelding to break and check a trailing runner. Driver B Barclay admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly at this stage of the race. After hearing submissions on penalty the JCA suspended Mr Barclay's horseman's licence from the 12th May until the 18th May inclusive (2 days.) | |
CALICO HILL - shifted down the track negotiating the first bend placing MISS FANDANGO in restricted room. Driver A Beck was cautioned for the manner he drove at this stage of the race. Held up by a tiring runner rounding the final bend. | |
SHUZI - broke shortly after the start, losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. | |
HARRYDAHORSE - checked and broke nearing the 1450 metres, losing all chance. | |
KANSAS CITY JIM - raced wide in the early stages. Paced roughly and broke passing the 900 metres, losing all chance. | |
SQUARE DEALER - placed in restricted room and broke when racing to the inside of TARTAN ROBYN passing the 1500 metres, checking HARRYDAHORSE which broke and lost its chance. | |
MISS FANDANGO - placed in restricted room and had to be steadied momentarily negotiating the first bend when racing to the inside of CALICO HILL. | |
TAIRLAW TOLL - driver N Williamson advised that the removable deafeners applied to the gelding failed to activate due to the cord breaking. | |

THE WHITE RABBIT - held up by a tiring runner rounding the final bend. Improved outwards passing the 350 metres and became awkwardly placed making contact with the sulky wheel of VON RICHTHOFEN, which was weakening. Notwithstanding this driver K Larsen was spoken to advisedly. Mr Larsen was fined $300 for using his whip outside of Clause (b) of the Whip Regulations. | |
DUNROBIN - weakened rounding the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver N Williamson had no tangible explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a slow recovery. Blood tests will be conducted in the coming days which Stewards will follow up with trainer B Shirley. | |
VON RICHTHOFEN - weakened from the 300 metres. Driver B Orange advised he had sustained a punctured sulky tyre during the running. | |
PADUKA - raced wide in the early stages. Held up in the early stages of the run home. | |
VIN SCULLY - raced wide for the first 1000 metres. | |
THE BIRD DANCE - raced greenly through the middle stages. Lay inwards in the early stages of the run home. | |

KIWI JEWEL - inconvenienced near the 1500 metres due to an easing of the pace. Weakened from the 600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be showing signs of tying up. Blood tests will be conducted in the coming days which Stewards will follow up with trainer B Shirley. | |

DREAMINSOVER - driver A Beck dropped his foot from the sulky footrest in the run home when attempting to activate the removable deafeners applied to the gelding. | |
THE IDEAL TOUCH - raced wide in the early stages. | |
BETTOR ROCK AGAIN - forced to race wide passing the 1750 metres when racing to the outside of SWIFT ROBYN. Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule however after viewing replays it was established that SWIFT ROBYN had commenced its outwards movement prior to BETTOR ROCK AGAIN reaching its wheel, with the matter taken no further. Stewards opened and adjourned an investigation into the reason driver A Armour failed to activate the removable deafeners applied to this gelding. | |
GOLDEN GALAXY - hung outwards and paced roughly rounding the first bend. Raced greenly and hung inwards entering the back straight on the first occasion giving driver J Morrison some difficulty. Became awkwardly placed to the inside of DREAMINSOVER near the 1750 metres, having to be steadied and breaking in consequence. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Raced greenly on various occasions thereafter. Weakened from the 400 metres. | |

Driver A Armour was issued with a Minor Infringement notice under Rule 864(2)(e) in that he failed to activate the removable deafeners on BETTER ROCK AGAIN being fined the sum of $200. |
