Race 1   EQUINOX RESTAURANT AT FORBURY TROT
NORDIC PRINCE - Broke after 200 metres losing all chance. The gelding was stood down to trial satisfactorily on one occasion.
DREAM OF PAT - Broke passing the 200 metres.
WINNING BONES - Broke after 1700 metres.
SWEET JEWELIETTE - Weakened from the 400 metres. When spoken to trainer Miss A Hoffman stated that she was disappointed with the run and the mare would no longer be persevered with as a racing proposition from her stable.
MAINLAND PAT - Gave ground from the 800 metres.
BONNIES DELIGHT - Was fractious before the start displaying poor barrier manners. Broke at the start and was retired from the event. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Trainer R Wilson advised that it was his intention to return the horse to the trials.
MAJESTIC ROSE - Broke at the start losing considerable ground. A final warning was placed on the mares barrier record.
KEN'S DREAM - The gelding underwent a pre race veterinary examination and was passed fit to race after starting at yesterday's Waimate meeting. Removed from the unruly for standing start races.
Following this event the track was downgraded to slow.
Race 2   NZ HORSE TRANSPORT PACE
JACKS ANNE - Advised to be racing without front plates. Tangled away. Held up in the early stages of the home straight.
IMPERIAL TRUMP - Broke shortly after the start.
TACT DENZEL - Broke at the start. Driver A Beck was spoken to advisedly with regard to how he restrained the horse to its proper gait.
SEFTON HOOLIGAN - Over raced through the middle stages. Held up for clear racing room until late in the home straight.
KING EROS - Jumped the crossing on the first occasion.
DONEGAL CHOKINSCREEK - Over raced at various stages throughout the event. Placed in restricted room passing the 150 metres when runners on either side shifted ground simultaneously.
RAKAGEM - Held up in the early stages of the home straight.
IT'S A LAUGH - Hampered by inside runner passing the crossing.
Race 3   DUNEDIN CITY MOTORS MOBILE PACE
MORDECAI - Junior driver K Tomlinson advised that she was unable to activate her gear due to the cord breaking.
TOBY O'GARA - Broke for a short distance passing the 1900 metres.
PLAYBOY PRINCE - Broke passing the crossing on the first occasion losing considerable ground.
MAGNATE MARA - Over raced in the early stages when being restrained to take cover.
ALEXY - The gelding underwent a pre race veterinary examination and was passed fit to race after starting at yesterday's Waimate meeting. Over raced throughout. Driver D O'Connell advised Stewards that he had been unable to release the gelding's deafeners. Mr O'Connell was issued with a warning for failing to fix these so as not to malfunction.
THEODORA HOPE - Raced wide through the early to middle stages. Compounded passing the 500 metres. When spoken to regarding the performance of the mare driver A Beck reported the horse to have been under pressure inside the final 400 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the connections in the coming days.
TUHERBS TWO - Briefly hampered passing the 400 metres by a weakening runner.
VIGOROSO - The gelding underwent a pre race veterinary examination and was passed fit to race after starting at yesterday's Waimate meeting.
Trainer A Paisley advised Stewards on 3 April that THEODORA HOPE has recovered well since racing at Wingatui on 25 March and will have a brief freshener before resuming.
Race 4   CRAIG PADDON LAWYER MOBILE PACE
COME A KNOCKIN - Paced roughly in the score up and was out of position at dispatch. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record. Broke at the crossing veering sharply out checking NADIRA FRANCO, K MACH and DAYS OF CHANGE. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing record.
MAD DOG MADDY - Compounded and gave ground from the 600 metres with a post-race veterinary inspection revealing an elevated heart rate with an irregular rhythm. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance.
NADIRA FRANCO - Out of position at the start. Junior driver H Clarke was shown the films and issued with a warning to have her runners in place. Heavily checked passing the crossing and breaking for several strides losing ground.
MRS WASHINGTON - Hampered over the final stages of the score up by a slow front line runner. The all clear was delayed when driver K Newman advised he wished to view the films of the start. Despite being held up by COME A KNOCKIN and being out of position Mr Newman, and the Stewards, were satisfied this did not materially prejudice this runners chances with dividends cleared accordingly.
K MACH - Broke shortly after the start A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Severely checked passing the crossing losing all chance.
DAYS OF CHANGE - Severely checked passing the crossing breaking and losing considerable ground. Over raced from the 600 metres. Broke passing the 250 metres.
MIGHTY GEORGE - Hung in the score up and was out of position at the start. Notwithstanding this, B Williamson was spoken to and reminded to make every effort to take up his position.
Race 5   NORWOOD FARM MACHINERY HANDICAP TROT
There was a delay of approximately 8 minutes to the start of this event due to the continual failure of the starter's tape.
SUNNY DEMON - Broke at the 1950 metres losing considerable ground.
CUDDLY TROUBLE - Held up for racing room entering the home straight.
MATAI JETSTAR - Held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the home straight. Treated for a mild case of colic subsequent to this race.
ANOTHERSUPERSTAR - Broke passing the 2000 metres.
WAYWARD ROC - Broke near the 1400 metres and was retired from the event. Trainer B Norman advised that the mare will no longer be a racing proposition from his stable.
CHRISTMAS BABE - when spoken to regarding the filly's performance driver B Williamson reported she had not been suited to the track conditions.
MONIBURNS - Hampered by breaking runner passing the 1400 metres. When spoken to regarding the mares performance the connections advised she had not been suited to the track conditions.
BONO HEST - Held up for racing room entering the home straight.
WHATWILLBEEWILLBEE - Broke at the crossing. A final warning was placed on the geldings racing record.
NEVERNEVERLAND - Slow to begin.
BELMONT'S GREATEST - Held up for racing room entering the home straight.
MAJESTIC CONNIES - Reared as the tapes were released.
KIWI CRUSHER - Slow to begin.
Race 6   RICOH MOBILE PACE
HONOUR THE BET - Paced roughly and broke shortly after the start checking TARTAN TRILOGY and FUTURA EASTON. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record.
TARTAN TRILOGY - Checked and broke passing the 2000 metres.
BLACK OPS - Raced wide to the 1400 metres. Lay inwards in the middle stages of the home straight. Paced roughly in the latter stages of the home straight.
FRANCO JUNE - Junior driver M Hurrell was spoken to advisedly with regards to his whip action.
FUTURA EASTON - Trainer B Norman was issued with a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $100 for presenting his horse with incorrect gear. Checked and broke passing the 2000 metres.
Race 7   NEXT RACE MEETING 28TH MARCH MOBILE PACE
OMAR SHARIF - Held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the home straight.
KNOCKMANAUGH - The centre hopple carrier came loose during the running. Trainer Miss A Hoffman was issued with a Minor Infringement Notice of $100 for failing to correctly affix the gear so as not to come adrift.
RED TERROR - Checked by breaking runner entering the first bend and forced wider on the track. Paced roughly at various stages of the home straight.
JACKS N JAZZ - Broke passing the 1950 metres checking RED TERROR and THE TIN SOLDIER and continued in a break until being retired from the event. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing record.
THE TIN SOLDIER - Checked by breaking runner entering the first bend and forced wider on the track.
WHATA RAZZLE DAZZLE - Broke in the score up and was out of position at the start before being retired from the event. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
