Race 1   CUP DAY HERE - SATURDAY 13 APRIL FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
AMETHYST - weakened from the 500 metres. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Orange could offer no explanation. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the filly with trainer R Todd in the coming days. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
AVA CLASSY GAL - paced roughly entering the first bend.
DIXIE STAR - driver C Thornley advised he did not activate the removable deafeners applied to the filly due to having the field covered.
BETTOR MOVE ON - hampered by a weakening runner passing the 400 metres.
CHANGED MY MIND - raced wide in the early stages.
A ROCKNROLL MAID - paced roughly in the score-up and was out of position at the start despite the urgings of driver M Williamson.
SOUTHERN BELLE - paced roughly in the score-up and was out of position at the start despite the urgings of driver P Hunter.
SORRY NO CHANGE - hampered by a weakening runner passing the 400 metres.
SWIFT ROBYN - slow to leave the pre-race circle and then broke in the score up losing its chance. The all clear was delayed until the score up could be reviewed as to whether this horse should be declared a non-runner. After it was established that the horse had moved away initially with the field then shied and briefly stood motionless before breaking and losing its chance the horse was deemed a runner but stood down pending a satisfactory mobile trial.
Trainer R Todd advised Stewards on 22 February that blood tests taken from AMETHYST following its disappointing performance at Winton last week showed some signs of tie up with Mr Todd adding that the filly will most likely return to trials before resuming.
Race 2   PGG WRIGHTSON FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
BETTOR LADY - broke shortly after the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
LISA ROCKS - paced roughly rounding the final bend.
PRESSED FOR TIME - driver B Orange advised he did not activate the removable deafeners applied to the filly due to having the field covered.
DELIGHT - over-raced through the middle stages. Held up through the early to middle stages of the run home.
INDULGENCE - improved wide from the 900 metres before reaching the parked position at the 600 metres.
Race 3   REGENT CAR COURT 3YO MOBILE PACE
DAMETORO - propped and broke racing into the first bend losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the racing record of the filly. Weakened from the 600 metres.
SURAZAL - raced wide without cover through the early and middle stages.
RAKABEACH - raced wide in the early stages.
THE MIGHTY CULLEN - back off the gate at the dispatch despite the urgings of driver M Williamson.
ARDEN ROANOKE - trainer C Dalgety was charged a $25 Colour Fee. Paced roughly in the latter stages of the run home.
GUIDO DA SIENA - hung outwards passing the 1000 metres. Weakened from the 400 metres. When questioned regarding the performance junior driver J Alford advised the gelding had made abnormal breathing noises during the running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer A Stuart advised he would have GUIDO DA SIENA undergo a further veterinary examination including Scoping and undertook to advise the Stewards of any findings.
DON'T NEED AN EXCUSE - ran inwards through the middle stages of the run home.
Trainer A Stuart advised Stewards on 21 February that GUIDO DA SIENA has worked well since returning from Winton last weekend adding that contrary to original intentions a scope will not now be carried out.
Race 4   JOHN DEERE RIDE-ON MOWERS MOBILE PACE
MAN I'M GOOD - over-raced through the middle stages. Held up for clear racing room throughout the run home.
MAAHES - held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
HARRYDAHORSE - paced roughly near the 600 metres.
QUEEN OF THE NITE - lay inwards in the early stages of the run home. Unable to find clear racing room in the latter stages of the run home.
Race 5   WINTON'S TOP PUB & GARDEN BAR MOBILE PACE
LOVE THE BLUES - out of position at the dispatch despite the efforts of driver R Swain. Paced roughly and broke briefly passing the 1500 metres hampering trailing runners. Hung inwards rounding the bend near the 1200 metres.
CHALBERG - trainer M Anderson was issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $50 for a late trainer notification. Weakened from the 1100 metres, finishing in a distant last placing. Connections advised they were disappointed with the performance and would return the gelding to the trials prior to racing next. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate.
LOCK IT IN EDDIE - paced roughly and hung outwards in the score-up hampering HUNTAWAY. Paced roughly again in the early stages. Held up by a weakening runner passing the 900 metres. Placed on the Unruly for future mobile and standing start engagements at the request of trainer T McGrannachan.
DELIGHT N GOLD - over-raced when being restrained to take cover passing the 2000 metres. Hampered by a breaking runner passing the 1400 metres. Hampered again by a weakening runner passing the 450 metres.
THISLADYROCKS - hampered by a weakening runner passing the 450 metres. Locked wheels with CHAIN REACTION passing the 400 metres.
BOUND TO BE BETTOR - hampered by a breaking runner passing the 1400 metres. Hampered by a weakening runner passing the 1100 metres.
BETTORS ATOM - out of position at the dispatch despite the efforts of driver K Barclay. Raced wide in the early stages.
CHAIN REACTION - weakened from the 600 metres. Hung outwards passing the 400 metres and locked wheels with THISLADYROCKS. When questioned regarding the performance junior driver S Tomlinson advised she was disappointed with the effort and the mare would now be sent back to its home base. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
VERDLEA - broke briefly in the score-up and was back off the gate at the dispatch. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Hampered near the 350 metres.
HUNTAWAY - hampered in the score-up and was slightly out of position at the dispatch. Paced roughly in the early stages. Driver N Williamson reported he did not activate the removable deafeners applied to the gelding due to having the field covered.
HANS IDEAL - raced wide without cover in the early stages. Held up for racing room rounding the final bend.
Race 6   SOUTHLAND FARM MACHINERY LTD GOLD CHIP FINAL HANDICAP TROT
SOUTH PARK - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Broke again passing the 1800 metres losing all chance. Placed on the Unruly for future standing start events at the request of trainer C Thomas.
INESSA'S DREAM - broke passing the 300 metres.
TOMMY TIDDLER - held up by a weakening runner passing the 300 metres.
THE POWER BROKER - held up by a weakening runner passing the 300 metres.
SOMETHINGS BURNING - was fractious prior to the tapes being released then swung outwards hampering ABBY MAY. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Driver K Barclay reported she sustained a punctured sulky tyre leaving the final bend.
ABBY MAY - hampered at the start by a breaking runner. Stewards withheld authorisation of all placings until they had reviewed the start to confirm that the mare was not denied a fair start.
ONLY ONE WAY - weakened from the 400 metres. Broke passing the 300 metres. When questioned regarding the performance driver M Williamson advised the gelding had hung and worked hard during the running however notwithstanding that he was disappointed with the effort. Mr Williamson further added he would be recommending ONLY ONE WAY now be sent for a spell. Stewards will follow up with trainer P Williamson in the coming days.
MATAI JETSTAR - hampered by a breaking runner rounding the final bend and forced to race wider on the track. Trotted roughly in the home straight.
ONE APOLLO - checked and broke briefly rounding the final bend.
LADY ZARA - broke passing the 600 metres losing its chance.
VENETO - broke passing the 2200 metres.
ROBBIE ROYALE - broke at the start. Broke again passing the 700 metres.
WHATWILLBEEWILLBEE - raced keenly passing the 1200 metres. Broke rounding the final bend checking ONE APOLLO. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
Trainer P Williamson confirmed to Stewards on 21 February that ONLY ONE WAY would be sent for a spell.
Race 7   JOHN DEERE COMPACT UTILITY TRACTORS PACE
AMBASSADOR - broke at the start losing all chance, veering sharply outwards and making heavy contact with EXCELLENT. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
TARTAN ROBYN - held up rounding the final bend and early in the run home.
MYRCELLA - broke at the start losing all chance.
NOTA BENE DENARIO - driver B Barclay advised he did not activate the removable deafeners applied to the gelding due to having the field covered.
IDEAL GAL - broke at the start. Held up for clear racing room exiting the final bend.
EXCELLENT - checked shortly after the start and broke, losing all chance.
PRINCE ABBEY - obliged to race very wide rounding the final bend.
Starter Mr B Ward was shown the films of the start and spoken to advisedly regarding the manner second line horses were able to approach the barrier.
Race 8   ROBIN DUNDEE CLUB FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
STAR REACTOR - paced roughly in the early stages.
BUNTER'S DREAM - the Cheek Burr was removed prior to the start.
ZENOLA'S ART - held up for clear racing room rounding the final bend.
BRIDESDALE ROBYN - back off the gate at the dispatch despite the urgings of junior driver M Hurrell.
Race 9   JOHN DEERE 7 & 8000 SERIES LARGE AG TRACTORS HANDICAP TROT
NOTTINGHAM K TWO - raced wide without cover from the 900 metres.
ANOTHERSUPERSTAR - broke passing the 500 metres.
THUNDER BUDDY - broke shortly after the start, then paced before being restrained into its correct gait, losing all chance.
MY AMOUR - broke at the start losing all chance.
GRACE O'MALLEY - weakened from the 300 metres.
RYDGEMONT MILLY - broke at the start. Lost contact with the field from the 1000 metres with the mare not persevered with thereafter by driver A Beck, who reported the mare had made abnormal breathing noises during the running . A post-race veterinary examination revealed an unidentified breathing issue and the mare was subsequently stood down pending a veterinary clearance which is to include the results of a Scope prior to racing next.
KING CASSIDY - slow to begin.
Co-Trainer M Shirley advised Stewards on 19 February that RYDGEMONT MILLY would be having a wind operation in the coming days.
Race 10   JOHN DEERE 6000 M SERIES MOBILE PACE
IT AIN'T THE MONEY - hampered by a weakening runner passing the 500 metres.
MY GEORGIE BOY - when questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance trainer/driver P Hunter advised the gelding had been going reasonably well in recent starts and had benefited from an economical trip on a good tempo today.
CHRISTIAN GREY - weakened from the 500 metres.
HURRICANE BANNER - over-raced wide when being restrained to take cover in the early stages.
MELINA LOWE - held up rounding the final bend and early in the run home. Driver B McLellan momentarily dropped his foot from the sulky footrest when activating gear passing the 180 metres.
THE BIRD DANCE - hampered by a weakening runner passing the 500 metres.
WHISKYINTHEJAR - back off the gate at the dispatch despite the efforts of driver M Williamson.
FIRST SON - hung inwards throughout the home straight.
