Race 6 - KAPITI TEN PIN BOWLING & BEACH FM 106.3 MOBILE PACE
Driver B Towers (PHILLYDOTCOM) admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted under clause (b) of the 'Use Of The Whip' Regulations. After hearing submissions on penalty the JCA suspended Mr Towers' driver's licence from the completion of racing on 3 February up to and including 2 March 2019 (5 days).

Race 1   STRATEGY T WORMERS @ FARMLANDS MOBILE PACE
The start was delayed briefly due to gear on SHEIKH YABOOTY requiring attention.
BABYFACENELSON - broke at the start and settled at the rear. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier manners.
IDEAL LINCOLN - had some difficulty obtaining clear running early in the home straight.
JACKHAMMER JOE - lay in at various stages and in particular on the final turn and throughout the run home.
AIN'T NOTHING BETTOR - inconvenienced by a breaking runner shortly after the start.
BYE BYE LUCY - inclined to lay out in the score-up prior to the start. Over-raced middle stages. Weakened final stages.
SAYALITTLEPRAYER - raced greenly after having been shifted wider by AIN'T NOTHING BETTOR near the 700 metres. Weakened final stages.
Race 2   OTAKI TRAVEL LTD MOBILE PACE
T C BUSINESS - lay in rounding the first turn.
LINCOLN LOVELY - back from position at dispatch. Driver D Jones was warned to have his horse in position in the future
FREAK LIKE ME - raced three wide early. Weakened final stages.
Race 3   REMEDY COFFEE @ RAUMATI & PARAPARAUMU HANDICAP TROT
BET'S COMMANDO - became fractious when called forward on to the barriers. Swung sideways at the start checking an outside runner and lost considerable ground. A warning was placed on this mare's standing start barrier manners.
SECRETOFTHESEA SMILE - shifted out early in the run home when leading. Driver D Jones was cautioned for his lack of control in this incident.
SHONA MARY - checked and broke shortly after the start losing its chance.
HARRY H - checked shortly after the start and broke losing ground before settling. Broke near the 2000 metres and galloped for a considerable distance. Broke racing over the crossing near the 1700 metres and lost all chance.
VALLEY STAR - Junior Driver J Best was shown the replay of the run home and spoken to advisedly in regard to his obligations under the Home Straight Regulations and also to modify his whip action.
Race 4   BOUNDARY, & DEANS & ASSOCIATES OTAKI CUP (HCP PACE)
The start was delayed when a number of runners became fractious when parading.
A false start was declared at the first attempt when GOTTA MOMENT swung sideways prior to barrier release checking ALLY MAE. GOTTA MOMENT was sent to the outside unruly position for the second attempt. A warning was placed on the gelding's standing start manners record.
GOTTA MOMENT - over-raced badly during the early and middle stages and ran up on to the back of FLEETING GRIN on several occasions near the 2300 metres despite the efforts of Driver S Abernethy.
ALLY MAE - broke shortly after the start and was slow to begin.
BETTOR SENSATION - broke at the start losing considerable ground and was pulled up.
BILL HALEY - broke at the start losing considerable ground and was pulled up.
ALTA LEONIE - when leading passing the 150 metres shifted out under pressure when clear of other runners.
The Starter Mr G Phillips was questioned in regard to method used to set the barrier strands for the 3000 metre start point. Recommendations were discussed to improve the adopted method in future.
Race 5   COAST BAR SERVICES MOBILE PACE
The start was delayed for approximately 5 minutes due to the sulky on WESTAR SAM requiring replacement.
LINCOLN MOMENT - Driver J Abernethy was granted permission to drive the gelding under Rule 503(2).
XMAS BAY - gave ground on the final turn to finish at the rear. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Trainer M House advised that the gelding failed to back up from it's first day run.
FORTUNE SMILES - raced three wide early.
GO GETTA - lay out rounding the final turn and throughout the run home when unable to secure clear running.
PURE DESIRE - held up rounding the final turn by a weakening runner.
OUR WICKLOW - Driver P Fleming admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted under clause (b) of the 'Use Of The Whip' Regulations. After hearing submissions on penalty the JCA suspended Mr Fleming's driver's licence up to and including the 2nd of March 2019 (5 days).
JACK BATES - broke for several strides passing the 300 metres and weakened out.
Race 6   ADDINGTON ROAD STABLES MOBILE PACE
MR BILLIARDS - tired over the final stages after leading throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. Trainer M Gibbs advised that he believed the gelding did not back up from it's first day run as well as expected despite the pace of the race being on throughout. It is his intention to give the gelding a brief spell.
THE NIGHT HAWK - Driver S Dickson admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted under clause (b) of the 'Use Of The Whip' Regulations and was fined $300.00 by the JCA.
THE BANDIT QUEEN - back from position on the mobile gate over the latter stages of the score-up. Driver D Butcher was issued a warning to maintain his position until dispatch.
FANCY SCHMANCY - broke passing the 600 metres losing its chance. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners record.
