Race 1   KAPITI MEMBERS AND SUPPORTERS HANDICAP TROT
EVERMORE - inconvenienced by a breaking runner at the 1500 metres. Broke passing the 300 metres and failed to settle.
MACKALI - late scratching at 1.20 pm on veterinary advice.
BET'S COMMANDO - lay in rounding the first bend contacting markers before breaking passing the 1500 metres.
SHONA MARY - inclined to lay out under pressure over the latter stages.
BURT MUNRO - inconvenienced by a breaking runner at the 1500 metres.
Race 2   FARMLANDS OTAKI MOBILE PACE
JACKHAMMER JOE - failed to get clear racing room throughout the run home.
JR'S JEM - weakened final stages.
AMERICAN ME - paced roughly passing the 1000 metres.
SHEIKH YABOOTY - lay in badly throughout the run home with Driver P Fleming unable to drive the mare out to full advantage.
Race 3   PALAMOUNTAINS SCIENTIFIC NUTRITION MANSELL MOBILE PACE
MAC PAUA - broke late in the score-up galloping a distance and then trailed the field. The gelding was declared unruly for future mobile starts.
XMAS BAY- Driver S Tomlinson was cautioned and reminded of her obligation to report the non-activation of gear after she elected not to activate the sliding blinds on the winner.
BABYFACENELSON - paced roughly shortly after the start before settling midfield. Was inclined to lay out throughout and paced roughly inside the final 200 metres.
Race 4   NOEL & MARGARET CRADDOCK MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE
WICKLOW STAR - broke at the start and continued on in a gallop for a distance before settling at the rear. A warning was placed on the mare's mobile barrier manners record.
THE KAPITI EXPRESS - over-raced inside the 1400 metres when being restrained from the lead to take the trail.
FANCY SCHMANCY - became unbalanced travelling over the crossing when being shifted inwards by JETENARA before breaking for several strides. The mare then slipped it's over-check bit during the running. Held up late in the run home.
JETENARA - Driver S Dickson was spoken to advisedly regarding the manner in which he drove near the 1700 metres when shifting FANCY SCHMANCY down to the marker line.
Race 5   PAT BAKER EL CHEAPO CARS MOBILE PACE
BETTOR TRENZ - broke at the start and settled at the rear. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier manners of the gelding. Inconvenienced by a breaking runner shortly after the crossing.
VON RICHTHOFEN - broke when in the lead passing the 800 metres losing considerable ground. Driver S Tomlinson then shifted the gelding inside the marker line to avoid causing interference to trailing runners. It was established that the centre hopple carrier strap came adrift and the gelding stood on it causing it to break. A Minor Infringement Notice was issued to and a $100.00 fine imposed on Trainer M House for failing to affix this gear so as to not come adrift.
FREAK LIKE ME - became unbalanced travelling over the crossing and broke inconveniencing a trailing runner. A Minor Infringement Notice was issued to and a $100.00 fine imposed on Driver J Best for failing to have his runner in position at dispatch.

Race 6   KAPITI TEN PIN BOWLING & BEACH FM 106.3 MOBILE PACE
PHILLYDOTCOM - Driver B Towers admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted under clause (b) of the 'Use Of The Whip' regulations when driving the mare inside the final 400 metres. The JCA adjourned the matter until the 2nd day.
Driver B Towers (PHILLYDOTCOM) admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted under clause (b) of the 'Use Of The Whip' Regulations. After hearing submissions on penalty the JCA suspended Mr Towers' driver's licence from the completion of racing on 3 February up to and including 2 March 2019 (5 days).
Race 7   GRANT PLUMBING 2019 WELLINGTON TROTTING CUP (HCP PACE)
FLEETING GRIN - a Protest was lodged against the 4th placing of this gelding on the grounds that it shifted down into the passing lane early in the run home thereby denying MISTER HARRIS (5th place) full access to the passing lane. After hearing the relative evidence and viewing the replays the JCA upheld the Protest and relegated FLEETING GRIN to 5th place in behind MISTER HARRIS. Driver P Ferguson admitted an associated breach of Rule 869(4) and his driver's licence was suspended from the conclusion of racing on the 3 February 2019 up to and including the 8 February 2019.
BETTOR SENSATION - broke at the start and lost all chance. This gelding was subsequently placed on the unruly for future stands at the trainer's request.
GOTTA MOMENT - broke for several strides at the start. Shifted out under pressure early in the run home with driver S Abernethy being cautioned for his lack of control in this incident.
MISTER HARRIS - denied a run in the passing lane to the inside of FLEETING GRIN early in the run home and was held up for a considerable distance before shifting out to secure clear running.
BILL HALEY - broke at the start and lost ground before settling at the rear.
ALTA LEONIE - locked sulky stays for a stride passing the 150 metres.
IMOLA - Trainer G Smith was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice after the gelding was presented with sliding blinds which were not notified. Locked sulky stays for a stride passing the 150 metres. The removeable deafeners failed to activate due to the release cord becoming entangled.
Race 8   TALL POPPY REAL ESTATE & RIVERSTONE CAFE HANDICAP TROT
The start was delayed by approximately 12 minutes due to the Protest in the previous race.
HARRY H - shifted out under pressure early in the run home. Driver P Ferguson was cautioned for his lack of control in this incident.
LAURA BUSH - slow to begin.
ABOVE THE REST - stood on the mark when the barriers were released losing considerable ground. Weakened final turn.
Race 9   TRILLIAN TRUST MOBILE PACE
The start was delayed for approx 10 minutes at the request of the TAB due to the delay with the previous race and issues involving the co-mingling with Australia.
EXPRESS PLAY - broke racing off the crossing near the 1700 metres and lost ground before settling.
JACK BATES - held up early final turn.
LINCOLN MOMENT - turned sharply in the initial stages of the score up tipping Driver S Abernethy from the sulky however Mr Abernethy was able to quickly regain his position in the sulky and had this runner in position prior to the candy pole. Held up final turn and early stages of the run home.
T C BUSINESS - broke racing off the crossing near the 1700 metres and lost ground before settling.
OUR WICKLOW - broke in the middle stages of the score-up and was well back from position at dispatch. After speaking with trainer/driver P Fleming no action was taken against the gelding given the inconvenience received with the mobile not accelerating as normal during the middle stages of the score up. Checked for several strides near the 1600 metres when having to avoid a breaking runner.
