Race 1 WAIMAKARIRI RIVER TROT Video  Video 
NATIVES BRITE GEM and CHIVASION broke at the start.
DREAMY MCSTEAMY broke at the start and again at the 1800 metres and the 1300 metres losing its chance.
TOPNOTCH TITAN broke shortly after the start.
LANDORA'S LOGAN broke shortly after the start and again when nearing the 2000 metres. This gelding had a warning placed on its racing manners after it broke and veered outwards abruptly entering the home straight losing its chance.

ART PATRON underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
THE GHOST and SANDBLOWN broke at the start.
NICK RIVIERA had a warning placed on its standing start manners after it broke for a considerable distance at the start. A further warning was placed on the racing manners of NICK RIVIERA after it broke again passing the 1200 metres and early in the run home.
ART PATRON commenced to tire from the 400 metres after racing three wide from the 1200 metres.
ALAMARAS was inclined to hang out severely rounding the final turn.
Horseman J Cox advised that the removable deafeners on HONEY SMITH failed to activate due to the cord breaking. This gear was inspected and found to be in previously good condition.
 
Race 3 CAM RIVER MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
EYRE DIGGA underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
MIDNIGHT FLYER paced roughly near the 1700 metres after an easing of the pace.
EYRE DIGGA (S Anderson) paced roughly when placed in restricted room nearing the 600 metres when racing to the outside of CULLENS FIRST MEDDLE (R Houghton) which was racing greenly and hanging outwards. EYRE DIGGA then gave ground on the final bend.
THE BOUNDER, MIDNIGHT FLYER and MR WOODLEA were held up for clear racing room throughout the run home.
PATRICK BEE and CULLENS FIRST MEDDLE were both subjected to post race Veterinarian examinations after both horses returned to the birdcage with blood present in the mouth.
 
Race 4 OKUKU RIVER GOLDEN GIRLS SERIES (HT 2) MOBILE TROT Video  Video 
IZINTHEZONE had a warning placed on its mobile barrier record after it broke as the start was effected checking the trailing THE JINJA NINJA and ROCKET.
KYLIE CASTLETON was the subject of a protest under Rule 870 (3) and the Breaking Horse Regulations after the mare broke nearing the 60 metres and continued in a break over the finish line. The connections of KYLIE CASTLETON conceded that KYLIE CASTLETON had broken in excess of the regulation and did not contest the protest with KYLIE CASTLETON subsequently being disqualified from its 3rd placing.
 
Race 5 GARRY RIVER GOLDEN GIRLS SUNSHINE SERIES (HT 3) MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
WHYAMIBETTOR delayed the start after the sulky on this mare had to be replaced. To avoid a further delay the plugs were activated on this mare at this time due to the unavailability of a release cord.
KARANGA RED FANTASY and SICILIAN SECRET locked wheels briefly entering the home straight on the final occasion.
HIGHLAND REIGN was held up during the middle stages of the run home.
LOTTIE FRANCO was momentarily placed in restricted room between FLORIN and WHYAMIBETTOR nearing the 150 metres.
MILLWOOD PINK LADY after receiving an economical trip in the trail tired rapidly over the concluding stages. Co-trainer T Chmiel expressed disappointment but could offer no explanation for this performance. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery rate with blood tests recommended. Stewards will follow this up in the coming days.
 
Race 6 WAIPARA RIVER MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
SOMEARDENSOMEWHERE had a warning placed against its racing manners after this gelding proceeded to over race and break when awkwardly placed to the sulky of TINTINARA nearing the 1400 metres.
Horseman R Houghton dropped his foot momentarily turning for home when activating the gear on LIVING LEGEND. Mr Houghton then had his horseman's licence suspended by the JCA for a period of 3 racing days, commencing from the conclusion of racing on 5 July 2015 (deferred under Rule 1304(b)(i)) up to and including 19 July 2015, after he admitted a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) in that he used his whip in an excessive manner over the concluding stages while driving this gelding.
 
Race 7 CUST RIVER HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
NEVERTHELESS, MOTU MOONBEAM and STUNIN DUDE broke at the start.
FAIR DINKUM BROMAC paced roughly and broke briefly near the 1700 metres after driver R Close had activated the hopple shorteners which hampered the trailing LACROIX FRANCO with this then affording the opportunity for ASTRO BOY to improve off the running line.
FAIR DINKUM BROMAC and PARRAMATTA were held up through the early stages of the run home.
 
Race 8 'LONDON LEGEND' RANGIORA WINTER CUP (HANDICAP PACE) Video  Video 
NAUGHTY MARAVU was presented late to race with trainer G Smith fined the sum of $100.00
JOEY MAGUIRE broke as the start was effected.
REKLAW SUPREME had a warning placed on its standing start record after it broke as the start was effected and ran outwards causing an inconvenience to NIKOLA and SMOKEN ROMAN. The connections advised that the gelding would be restricted to mobile starts for its upcoming races
JOEY MAGUIRE, NAUGHTY MARAVU and THAT GUY FINN were all held up for clear racing room throughout the run home with their respective drivers advising they had not activated the removable gear due to this.
Horseman R Houghton (JOEY MAGUIRE) was shown the films and reminded of his obligations when starting from the unruly position.
 
Race 9 KAIAPOI RIVER YOUNG AT HEART CHAMPIONSHIP (HT 1) MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
NORTHVIEW GAMBLER had a warning placed on its racing manners after it broke free of interference passing the 1700 metres.
NIC MAC WILLY over-raced in the middle stages and hung inwards in the early stages of the run home.
COURAGE DU FAIR tired rounding the final bend.
 
Race 10 HURUNUI RIVER HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
A false start was declared due to the 30 metre barrier strand being slow to release.
THE ZIGMEISTER broke after 150 metres and raced fiercely in the middle stages with this effort taking its toll on the gelding which tired over the concluding stages.
BERKSHIRE SON (G Laing) broke nearing the 2100 metres after contacting the inside wheel of GIN RUMMY (I Cameron) when racing in restricted room to the inside of this runner. After speaking with both drivers regarding the incident, Stewards issued Mr Cameron with a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) alleging he drove carelessly at this stage of the race. Mr Cameron elected to defend such charge and after an initial hearing the JCA adjourned the matter sine die.
 
Race 11 RAKAHURI RIVER MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
A false start was declared when MOTU MAKE A SPLASH broke in the score up and fell to the track dislodging driver S Golding and severely checking BILLY THE BAD with its driver K Grant also being dislodged from the sulky. MOTU MAKE A SPLASH then crashed through the outside railing and sustained multiple lacerations which were treated on course. As a result this mare was declared a late scratching on Veterinarian advice and is stood down pending a satisfactory trial and a Veterinarian clearance. Stewards ordered the scratching of BILLY THE BAD due to it being unable to start without unreasonable delay. Both drivers were checked by St John personnel and were cleared of any significant injury.
MUSIC paced roughly passing the 1000 metres inconveniencing the trailing ZENA MAC and CIMARRON.
BEST DEFENCE, BOUNDARY ROW and ART EXHIBIT were held up for clear racing room throughout the run home.
