Race 1   MT HUTT MOTELS TROT
B K DOVER - slow to begin. Broke near the 1300 metres.
MILLY AN EYRE - lay inwards in the home straight with driver S Ottley having to restrain the mare. The near side boring pole came adrift during the running.
KEN'S DREAM - fractious behind the barrier delaying the start. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record.
SIERRA GOLD - broke after 200 metres. Raced wide from the 850 metres.
STORM ALERT - broke after 150 metres. Broke again passing the 100 metres.
FEKITOA - trotted roughly after 100 metres and then broke soon after.
DORA EXPLORER - broke soon after the start.
MAJESTIC SUNSET - held up on the final bend.
APPEARANCE - fractious behind the barrier.
JAGUAR BAY - broke near the 1800 metres. Again broke near the 200 metres. Driver P Wakelin advised that the mare had cast a shoe during the running.
RAZOR - broke in the early stages. Driver M Anderson was spoken to regarding the gelding making ground when in a gallop. After considering his explanation a warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record. Weakened leaving the final bend.
SUPERFAST LAD - fractious behind the barrier.
Race 2   SHEARMAC ALUMINIUM MOBILE PACE
DIXIE REIGN - lay outwards on the final bend.
NIGHT LIGHTS - trainer J Anderson was charged a $25 colour fee.
MAGGIE - raced roughly approaching the 1000 metres and lost contact with the field for a short distance.
SOCIAL MEDIA - raced wide around the first bend.
JAFFA - hung inwards passing the 900 metres crowding an inside runner.
JAFA KITTEN - raced fiercely through the middle stages. Driver C Markham reported because of this he had not been able to activate the shorteners until the final stages at which point only one had released.
GLEN ELGIN TOMSON - held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
AVEROSS SPITFIRE - out of position at the start despite the late efforts of driver J Young. Notwithstanding this, driver J Young was advised to make a better effort to be in position earlier in the score up. Over-raced middle stages.
ALREADY GONE - out of position at the start. When questioned regarding this, driver M Anderson advised the filly to have raced lethargically and paced roughly causing him to lose ground. A warning was placed on the filly's barrier record. Trainer B Ward advised that the deafeners would be removed in an attempt to enthuse the filly over the early stages.
Race 3   FULTON HOGAN TROT
MUCHACHA BONITA - heavily checked near the 400 metres.
AWESOME IMPEE - Co-trainer P Wakelin advised the mare would be racing in season.
NEVER MIND - raced wide from the 1000 metres.
MOTU MOONDANCER - heavily checked and broke near the 400 metres.
WINDSOR - broke near the 600 metres.
TIPTOE TROUBLE - broke near the 1700 metres losing considerable ground. Heavily checked and broke near the 400 metres.
MDINA - swung around at the start and refused to move off with the field losing its chance. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record.
WENDY'S JEWELL - broke near the 400 metres checking trailing runners. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
CHAMPAGNE PRINCE - trotted roughly and hung inwards through the home straight.
ONE OVER DA SON - broke at the start losing its chance.
Race 4   GREG DONALDSON CONTRACTING PACE
FUSITUA - broke at the start.
I CAN REMEMBER - broke at the start.
VICTOR TANGO - underwent and passed a pre-race veterinary examination. Shifted outwards in the run home. Driver J Morrison was advised that it was expected he make a better effort in future to maintain a straight course.
TIZ A SWEETHEART - broke at the start. Hung inwards at various times during the running.
LIVING FANTASY - broke briefly at the start.
JUST MICHAEL - broke at the start.
ULTIMATE SWIFT - weakened from the 400 metres. When questioned regarding the performance, trainer/driver D Keast advised he was disappointed with the performance and could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the connections in the coming days.
MIDNIGHT IN MEMPHIS - when questioned regarding the performance, driver J Cox advised that in his opinion the colt was not comfortable on the grass track today.
NUI MAY TAU - underwent and passed a pre-race veterinary examination. Improved wide without cover from the 1000 metres.
Trainer D Keast advised Stewards on 7 April that ULTIMATE SWIFT has been treated for a virus since racing at Methven on 31 March and will now be given a brief freshen up.
Race 5   JONNY COX RACING STABLES JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
I'M JIMMY JAMES - late scratching at 10.55am on veterinary advice. A veterinary clearance is required prior to the gelding resuming.
PEMBROOK BLUE - out of position at the start. Junior driver S O'Reilly was issued with a warning.
GLENGARRY KNIGHT - shifted outwards in the home straight. Driver B Hope was warned to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in future.
AWAYOVERNIGHT - hung outwards on the bend passing the 1300 metres.
THE GOVERNOR - raced wide in the early stages.
Race 6   MT HUTT TROTTING CLUB MOBILE PACE
TOM RULE - raced wide in the early stages. Held up early and middle stages of the run home.
IREBY MEG - over-raced in the early and middle stages.
FRANCO SHERBORNE - held up until near the 150 metres.
CANARDLY REMEMBER - held up middle stages of the run home.
BEAUDIENE GAMBLER - held up early stages of the run home.
Race 7   PAT MCGIRR MEMORIAL TROT
TEQUILA SUNSET - broke over the final stages and was lapped on at the finish by HEAVENLY LOVE and FOREIGNER. Stewards lodged a protest against the gelding's 3rd placing under Rule 870(5) and the Breaking Horse Regulations. The connections did not contest the protest and TEQUILA SUNSET was relegated to 5th placing by the JCA.
HEAVENLY LOVE - held up on the final bend.
RARANGI OPAL - broke after 100 metres losing ground. Trotted roughly once settling and then broke again losing its chance. Declared unruly for future standing starts at the request of the connections.
FOREIGNER - raced wide in the early stages. Driver G Hunt admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of the Whip Regulations. After submissions on penalty, the JCA suspended Mr Hunt's Horseman's Licence from the conclusion of racing on 7 April up to and including 20 April 2019 (3 days).
SUGAR CANE - held up early stages of the run home.
WESTEROS - broke in the early stages losing considerable ground.
Race 8   MID CANTERBURY TROTTING OWNERS MOBILE PACE
MARKHAM EYRE - raced keenly for some distance near the 1800 metres when attempting to surrender the lead, firstly unsuccessfully to ULTIMATE ROCKER then successfully to BELLA ROZA soon after. Junior driver K Newman was warned for shifting inwards and making contact with track markers leaving the final bend.
BELLA ROZA - raced wide around the first bend.
GARRY'S LEGACY - raced wide in the early stages.
FRANKIE D - out of position at the candy pole. Driver K Butt was issued with a warning. Held up on the final bend.
MELT DOWN - held up early stages of the run home.
Race 9   THE PHAT DUCK BREW BAR AND KITCHEN PACE
TIEBREAKER - broke at the start. Hampered near the 1250 metres by a breaking runner and had to shift ground wider.
MISS DAYTONA - broke at the start. Over-raced and paced roughly near the 1700 metres when there was an easing of the pace.
MADAME FROST - held up on the final bend.
SWEENEY TODD - hung inwards and paced roughly at the 500 metres.
NIMAH FRANCO - lay outwards through the final straight. When questioned regarding the improved performance, driver T Chmiel advised the mare had been able to benefit from a considerable drop back in class and had been held up at its previous start.
MIGHTY MONICA - when spoken to regarding the performance, driver B Orange advised the filly had proved disappointing and would now be having a freshen up.
JUST N AWE - held up throughout the run home.
IDEAL RULE - raced wide in the early stages.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS - hampered in the early stages.
BALTIMORE JACK - broke near the 1300 metres after being taken forward to race outside the leader losing its chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Driver G Smith advised that he would be recommending to trainer N McGrath that the gelding's gear be tightened.
JUST BEN - held up early and middle stages of the home straight.
Trainer B Zampese advised that SWEENEY TODD has had its hocks injected since last racing.
Race 10   WOODLANDS STUD MT HUTT TROTTING CLUB COUNTRY CUP (HCP PACE)
The start of this event was delayed two minutes at the request of the TAB.
GEORGIAS BARON - raced greenly near the 2600 metres and shifted outwards when leading having to be corrected by its driver.
SPOT ON - broke at the start. Raced wide in the early stages.
JOHNNY EYRE - underwent and passed a pre-race veterinary examination after starting in Race 5.
FORGOTTEN HIGHWAY - broke at the start.
Race 11   PG O'REILLY MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROT
PRINCE TEKA - had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early stages of the run home and shifted inwards forcing inside runner over pylons. Driver K Cameron was issued with a warning.
SUN SWINGER - hung outwards passing the 1700 metres.
AVEROSS DON - raced without removable deafeners after they were unable to be adequately secured.
BEG HALL - weakened on the final bend.
TAKE AFTER ME - broke racing into the first bend losing its chance.
ONE OVER DOVER - broke passing the 150 metres. Stood down to complete one satisfactory trial.
JUSTAMOLLYARCHER - held up early stages of the run home.
TRICK STAR - placed in restricted room early stages of the run home and forced over pylons.
Race 12   MAINLAND WOOL MOBILE PACE
DODGETHEBULLET - lay outwards and paced roughly on the final bend.
JENORA - raced keenly when in the parked position through the early and middle stages. Raced roughly and then fell to the track near the 850 metres after having choked down. A post-race veterinary examination revealed some blood in both nostrils consistent with having struck its head when falling with no other abnormalities. A veterinary clearance including a scope is required prior to the mare having to complete one satisfactory trial.
WAYTOGO BRUNO - back from the unruly position at the start. Hung inwards over the concluding stages.
