Trainer S Reid advised Stewards on 3 April that MUSTANG SALLY has recovered well since its tough run at Palmerston North last week and will continue with its current preparation.
Race 5   CAFE JACKO MOBILE PACE
Approaching the 1200 metres THE JANDEL MACHINE (T Macfarlane) contacted the back of PHILLYDOTCOM (B Towers) sulky with it's front foot becoming entangled in PHILLYDOTCOM's sulky resulting in it's leg not being able to be freed and both runners standing stationary in the middle of the track near the 1100 metres. Stewards directed this race be stopped in accordance with Rule 211A(1) due to the safety of horses and horsemen being at risk. As the horses had run more than 1000 metres the race was abandoned under Rule 211A(3).

THE JANDEL MACHINE was subjected to a Veterinary examination where it was reported the gelding to have sustained superficial grazing to both hind legs which were treated on course.

Stewards lodged an Information alleging Mr Macfarlane was in breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he was careless by allowing THE JANDEL MACHINE to trail too close in behind PHILLYDOTCOM's sulky (B Towers) with resultant contact and the gelding's off fore leg becoming entangled necessitating the race being stopped. After hearing the evidence of Stewards, Mr Macfarlane, Mr Towers and Mr J Curtin (JACK BATES) the JCA found the charge proven and suspended Mr Macfarlane's horseman's licence from the conclusion of racing on the 29th March 2019 up to and including the 12th April 2019 (4 Days)
