Trainer N Williamson advised Stewards on 9 March that AMBASSADOR has been retired from racing.
Race 9 - ASCOT PARK HOTEL MOBILE PACE
Trainer C Ferguson advised Stewards on 9 March that blood tests taken from MELINA LOWE following its disappointing performance at Ascot Park on 3 March revealed some minor abnormalities with the mare being given a brief freshen up before resuming.

MAAHES - lay inwards rounding the first bend. Weakened over the concluding stages.
KAGEE VC - placed in restricted room momentarily entering the home straight.
FRANCO HUNTINGTON - over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to take cover. Over-raced again through the middle stages.
AY BOY - lay inwards throughout the home straight.

GRACE O'MALLEY - lay inwards rounding the bends throughout. Weakened from the 600 metres.
MISS BAMBOOCHA - broke at the start losing all chance.
COUNT EYRE - slow to begin.
ROBBIE ROYALE - broke briefly passing the 2400 metres.
SOMETHINGS BURNING - broke at the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Broke again passing the 2300 metres losing all chance.
MAJESTIC CONNIES - lay inwards passing the 800 metres and dislodged a track marker.
DIPENDRA - broke passing the 2300 metres losing all chance.
SPLASH COLA - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
Race 3   SBS RURAL MOBILE PACE
MAXIMILIAN - lay inwards and paced roughly rounding the bends when trailing, then lost contact with the leaders back passing the 800 metres. Weakened from the 500 metres.
LIFEOFBRIAN - broke shortly after the start hampering several runners. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Paced roughly in the early stages of the home straight when being shifted wider on the track by an inside runner. Reported to have lost a front racing plate during the running.
OHOKA ACHILLES - forced to race wide rounding the first bend when avoiding a breaking runner. Improved wide from the 1300 metres and was able to shift down to trail the leader passing the 800 metres.
U MAY CULLECT - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination when found to have some blood in the mouth and was cleared to start.
JAFFIE J - over-raced when placed in restricted room passing the 650 metres when there was an easing of the pace on the marker line.
HANS IDEAL - struck a track marker and broke briefly entering the first bend when taking evasive action to avoid a breaking runner.
ALE ALE KAI - hampered by a breaking runner passing the 2000 metres.
MATAU MEG - paced roughly in the score-up then broke shortly after the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Weakened from the 500 metres.
INDULGENCE - held up for clear racing room rounding the final bend.
Race 4   AON INSURANCE BROKERS GORE MOBILE PACE
BIGANDME - lay out shortly after the start, then paced roughly and broke racing into the first bend, shifting up the track abruptly and making heavy contact with LETTERKENNY BOY which in turn checked TARTAN ROBYN, resulting in several other trailing runners being hampered. Stood down pending one satisfactory trial prior to racing next.
THE GOLDEN BOY - Trainer R Holmes was issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $100 when presenting this runner in the incorrect gear. Broke in the score-up however recovered to take up its allocated position at the dispatch.
SON OF LANA - checked and had to take evasive action racing into the first bend, briefly breaking and hampering ARDENT LUSTRE.
VIN SCULLY - checked and had to take evasive action racing into the first bend.
TARTAN ROBYN - severely checked entering the first bend, locking wheels with an inside runner and losing all chance, eventually being retired from the event.
ARDENT LUSTRE - briefly hampered by a breaking runner passing the 1900 metres. Lay inwards passing the 1300 metres.
LETTERKENNY BOY - received heavy contact from an inside runner entering the first bend, being forced wider on the track and locking wheels with TARTAN ROBYN, losing all chance, eventually being retired from the event.
Race 5   CADUCEUS CLUB OF SOUTHLAND/ALABAR FILLIES CLASSIC (MOB PACE)
TOTAL DIVA - paced roughly leaving the final bend.
MISS RUBY SUNSHINE - raced greenly in the early stages.
SOUTHERN BELLE - lay outwards shortly after the start before breaking and hampering outside runners. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Had to be restrained passing the 1750 metres when improving forward to the inside of TUAPEKA JESSIE which shifted ground inwards simultaneously, resulting in SOUTHERN BELLE breaking briefly.
TUAPEKA JESSIE - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start. Commenced to shift ground inwards passing the 1750 metres however was corrected back up the track due to SOUTHERN BELLE improving to its inside, resulting in TUAPEKA JESSIE pacing roughly for several strides.
TATHRA - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start.
Race 6   PRYDE'S EASIFEED SOUTHERN LIGHTS (HANDICAP TROT)
RED HOT POKER - over-raced on various occasions throughout the event.
DE VITO - slow to begin. Over-raced when being restrained to take cover passing the 2200 metres.
BELLES SON - broke passing the 180 metres.
MAJESTIC MAN - improved three-wide from the 1900 metres.
VALLORIA - improved three-wide from the 800 metres.
OVER THE LOVE - improved three-wide from the 1300 metres.
SMOKEY MAC - raced wide in the early stages.
Race 7   CADUCEUS CLUB OF SOUTHLAND SUPER NUGGET FINAL (MOBILE PACE)
BARRETT - held up for racing room leaving the final bend.
BOTTLE ROCK - shifted outwards racing into the first bend. Weakened from the 500 metres.
ZINNY MACH - when questioned regarding the performance driver N Williamson advised that the gelding had every chance and was simply beaten by better horses on the day.
BURLINGTON - forced wider on the track racing into the first bend.
TAD LINCOLN - lay inwards racing into the bend near the 900 metres. Weakened from the 350 metres.
Race 8   NS VETS TOTAL VET CARE MOBILE PACE
BETTORS HIGHLIGHT - improved three-wide in the middle stages. Lay outwards and shifted up the track near the 400 metres placing an outside runner in restricted room.
UPTOWN LADY - hampered by inside runners when improving four-wide passing the 400 metres.
VINTAGE ROSE - paced roughly in the score-up. Lay inwards shortly after the start and on various other occasions throughout the event.
TEAM KIWI - paced roughly shortly after the start.
THE EMPRESS - when questioned regarding the performance driver B Barclay advised he was disappointed with the effort however could offer no tangible explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a very slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with trainer R Swain in the coming days.
WHISKYINTHEJAR - raced three-wide from the 1100 metres. Weakened from the 600 metres. Placed in restricted room on the wheel of BETTORS HIGHLIGHT passing the 400 metres when that runner lay outwards and shifted up the track.
ZENOLA'S ART - hampered by inside runners when improving four-wide passing the 400 metres. Held up for clear racing room rounding the final bend. Driver K Barclay reported a sulky tyre had deflated in the middle stages.
Trainer R Swain advised Stewards on 14 March that THE EMPRESS has been treated for a virus and will continue with its current preparation.
Race 9   YALDHURST HOTEL NORTHERN SOUTHLAND CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
TACT MAGGIE - slow to begin. Broke briefly shortly after the start.
ROYAL BENGAL - lay inwards passing the 1300 metres making contact with several track markers.
ALTA MAESTRO - held up for clear racing room leaving the final bend.
HENRY HUBERT - broke at the start losing ground.
SMOKIN BY - weakened from the 300 metres and made contact with several track markers on the final bend. Driver N Williamson was shown the films and reminded of his obligations regarding this. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding Mr Williamson advised he was very disappointed with effort however could offer no tangible explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. However 45 minutes later with a follow up examination a mild bout of colic was identified, the gelding responded well to the medication. Stewards will follow up with trainer M Kerr in the coming days.
A G'S WHITE SOCKS - slow to begin.
FUNATTHEBEACH - paced roughly in the early stages.
Trainer M Kerr advised Stewards on 13 March that SMOKIN BY has recovered well since suffering from a bout of colic at Ascot Park last week and will continue with its current preparation.
Race 10   HARAS des TROTTEURS SOUTHLAND TROTTING OAKS (MOBILE TROT)
SHES LIKE THE WIND - made heavy contact with the mobile barrier arm in the score-up and broke briefly before settling. Slightly out of position at the Candy Pole before breaking again and losing all chance.
SWISS MISS - lay inwards on various occasions throughout the event.
Race 11   GRINALDI LODGE MOBILE PACE
STARS TONIGHT - Paced roughly entering the first bend.
GLOBAL DOMINATION - briefly held up for clear racing room leaving the final bend.
MACH'S BACK - weakened from the 500 metres.
CAST NO SHADOW - improved three-wide in the middle stages.
TIZIANO - lay outwards racing into the first bend, then when being steadied to avoid runner in front pacing roughly, dislodged a track marker near the 1900 metres. Held up for racing room rounding the final bend and in the early stages of the home straight.
