Race 4 - FASTTRACK INSURANCE NUGGET FINAL (MOBILE PACE)
Driver K Barclay (TAD LINCOLN) was spoken to and cautioned for the manner in which she drove entering the first bend when placing the runner to her inside in restricted room. Mrs Barclay was also cautioned that when her foot slips from the sulky footrest she makes an immediate attempt to return it in future.
Stewards concluded their investigation in regards to Driver K Barclay (TAD LINCOLN) failing to attend a Stewards inquiry when requested. After hearing the explanation tendered by Mrs Barclay Stewards issued her with a charge under HRNZ Rule 303(2) in that she failed to attend the Stewards room for such purpose when requested to do so by a Stipendiary Steward. Mrs Barclay admitted the breach and at a JCA hearing held today she was fined the sum of $400.00

Race 1   FAT SALLY'S PUB & RESTAURANT TROT
CAPELLI - pre-race warmed. Trotted roughly entering the final straight and broke near the 200 metres.
GLOBAL FLIGHT - broke at the 450 metres.
PEGASUS HANOVER - broke after 200 metres and again on several other occasions during the running. A final warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
SWEET JEWELIETTE - broke near the 400 metres. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
MOTU MOONDANCER - co-trainer P Wakelin advised the mare would be racing in season.
DREAM OF PAT - heavily contacted from the outside as the start was effected with driver R Heads being dislodged from the sulky and the mare then running driverless on the track. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a small cut to the right knee. Driver R Heads was examined by St John paramedics and cleared of injury.
AWESOME IMPEE - co-trainer P Wakelin advised the mare would be racing in season. Shied at the barrier strand as the start was effected and shifted in abruptly making heavy contact with DREAM OF PAT dislodging its driver. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
AORANGI - broke at the 100 metres. A warning was placed on the racing record of the colt.
RITES OF ZHOU - broke at the 400 metres.
SPUR ME ON GENTLY - trotted roughly and broke near the 1400 metres.
SUPERFAST LAD - checked shortly after the start with driver M Heenan being dislodged from the sulky. Mr Heenan was examined by St John paramedics and cleared of injury.
Stewards ordered this race to be stopped after the field had raced 200 metres due to DREAM OF PAT running driverless on the track. Due to a communication error between the Clerk of the Course and the Drivers, this order was not relayed in an effective manner with the field continuing to race. The all clear was delayed until such time as the Stewards were able to view all available replays, firstly of the start, to ensure no runner had been denied a fair start and secondly, to speak to all drivers and ascertain that no horse had been disadvantaged due to the communication error. After speaking with all drivers Stewards were satisfied that no horse had been denied a fair start and that no horse's chances had been materially prejudiced due to the continuation of the race with the all clear duly authorised. Stewards spoke with the Club's President Mr D Heffernan and the Clerk of the Course Mr W Phiskie in relation to the procedure he is expected to follow when instructed to stop a race in future.
Race 2   FASTTRACK INSURANCE MOBILE PACE
MYNANASGOTNOTEETH - broke when racing over the crossing with 1600 metres to run.
SUPERSTAR LEGEND - hung inwards through the middle stages when racing in the parked position.
BAKER CREEK - paced roughly briefly near the 50 metres.
REBEL WITH A GRIN - held up early stages of the run home.
DREAMINSOVER - J Cox was an authorised driver change due to G Smith being late to arrive on course. Mr Smith admitted breaking a driving engagement and after submissions on penalty, the JCA imposed a fine of $225.
NIGHT LIGHTS - R Holmes was an authorised driver change due to R Close being late to arrive on course. Mr Close admitted breaking a driving engagement and after submissions on penalty, the JCA imposed a fine of $125.
KIWI BLOKE - raced wide early stages.
CANDIDASA - held up early stages of the run home.
MACH O'MELLEY - inconvenienced by a breaking runner near the 1600 metres.
JAFA KITTEN - paced roughly over the concluding stages.
Race 3   PGG WRIGHTSON MOBILE PACE
KATIE DALY - held up early stages of the run home.
SISTER'S DELIGHT - broke with 1800 metres to run losing considerable ground.
THE IDEAL TOUCH - held up early stages of the run home.
CUTE - held up early stages of the run home.
DONEGAL CHOKINSCREEK - raced greenly when being restrained in the early stages. Continued to race greenly through the middle stages.
LIVING FANTASY - when questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer S Allen advised that the mare had improved following a spell and had been performing well in recent trials. He added that the horse had also been able to capitalise on the economical run it had received today.
MAXIMILIAN - the Murphy Blind was removed prior to the start after warming up unfavourably. Held up early stages of the run home.
MELT DOWN - broke in the score up and was out of position by several lengths at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Held up early stages of the run home.
Race 4   ONE SMART COFFEE PACE
TERRA FIRMA - broke badly at the start and attempted to kick out at driver D O'Connell losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
SEFTON HOOLIGAN - over-raced through the middle stages.
SHEELASINLEAGUE - broke at the start checking trailing runner. Continued on in a break for a considerable distance and was retired from the event. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
SMIRKEN - hung inwards final stages.
CLASSY KID - hung inwards in the home straight.
BEAUDIENE OVERTAKE - checked at the start losing ground. Raced wide rounding the final bend.
Race 5   NORTH OTAGO MOTOR GROUP TROT
CUDDLY TROUBLE - broke at the start.
TOPNOTCH EAGLE - broke passing the 400 metres.
TRES MAGNIFIQUE - broke passing the 400 metres. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
FIREMAN - broke at the start.
IDEAL INVASION - broke after 200 metres. Broke again near the 600 metres. Trainer J Clementson advised that he would be adding a pacifier and an undercheck to the gelding's gear as well as extra weight to the front shoes. He also advised the gelding would be returned to the trials prior to resuming.
DIANA HARBOUR - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
RED HARBOUR - trainer K James was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice after the gelding was presented to race with an unwarranted sulky. Slow through the early stages. Hung inwards entering the final straight.
Race 6   PICK & SHOVEL MOBILE PACE
REGAL SUZY - driver G O'Reilly advised he sustained a punctured sulky tyre during the running.
MOTU SPEEDY STAR - paced roughly on the first bend. Paced roughly when being improved outwards leaving the final bend.
EJA PATRON - raced wide around the first bend.
SMOKE N REACTOR - raced wide early stages.
THE DOORMAN - raced wide early stages.
RED TERROR - raced wide early stages.
THE HEART RULZ - out of position at the start. When questioned regarding this, driver R May advised that he was being cautious due to the gelding breaking at its most previous start on the grass. Stewards accepted Mr May's explanation however advised him to make a better effort in future.
MY PATRONUS - over-raced through the middle stages becoming awkwardly placed close to the sulky wheel of REGAL SUZY. Held up over the concluding stages.
VIGOROSO - broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. A final warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Over-raced through the middle stages. Driver D O'Connell advised that in his opinion the gelding had choked down. Returned to the birdcage with severe hopple chafing on all four legs. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
Race 7   NORTH OTAGO MOTOR GROUP JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
LONDON DELIGHT - paced roughly after racing over the course crossing. Failed to play a competitive part throughout the run home and finished a distance from the winner. When questioned regarding the performance, driver N Purdon advised the mare had been pacing roughly and felt lethargic throughout and due to this he was reluctant to make a move to take up a forwards position during the running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the mare with connections in the coming days.
MISS PINOCCHIO - when questioned regarding the performance, driver L Lester advised she had waited to receive a cart into the race and by following the favourite, thought this would eventuate. Miss Lester further advised she was reluctant to improve herself, due to the possibility of being pushed wider on the track after being given instructions to drive the mare for one run, with these instructions confirmed by trainer G Smith. Miss Lester added that the mare had hung in severely over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
DOUBLE RAINBOW - paced roughly racing over the course crossing.
The connections of LONDON DELIGHT advised Stewards on 23 February that the mare has recovered well after its disappointing performance at Oamaru on 16 February and will continue with its current preparation.
Race 8   WAIKOUAITI RACING AT OAMARU NEXT WEEK TROT
TONIQUE DE FEU - late scratching after racing at the NZ Metropolitan TC's meeting the previous evening.
ROCKNPOP - held up middle stages of the run home.
ALI LINDENNY - broke at the start. Broke again near the 1500 metres and was retired from the event.
SEA ROVER - broke at the start.
ONE OVER DA STARS - the connections advised the mare would be racing with front shoes.
DAVEY MAC - broke when improving wide racing into the first bend.
MAJESTIC CONNIES - hung rounding the final bend then forced very wide to improve around a tiring runner.
Race 9   MORRISONS SADDLERY & FEED MOBILE PACE
VALZONA - over-raced from the 800 metres.
KANSAS CITY JIM - raced keenly in the parked position.
JOHNNY WHITE - broke with 300 metres to run.
THREE IDEAS - slightly out of position at the start. Hung inwards in the early stages of the run home.
FRANCO TEXAS - held up early stages of the run home. Returned to the birdcage with chafing around its chest with this being confirmed by a veterinary examination. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance.
HOT STARFF - badly held up on the final bend and early stages of the run home.
ART BANKER - broke in the score up and lost considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
Race 10   OAMARU HARNESS RACING CLUB HANDICAP PACE
ONEDIN REIGN - late scratching after racing at the NZ Metropolitan TC's meeting the previous evening.
DOITSON - held up middle stages of the run home.
IDEAL DRAW - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
ALL ABOUT HENRY - broke at the start. Held up early and middle stages of the run home.
STOMPEM - hung through the early and middle stages.
HIDDEN DESIRE - hung inwards over the concluding stages.
Race 11   SPRINGBANK HANDICAP TROT
JUSTAMOLLYARCHER - broke in the early stages and continued on in a gallop for a considerable distance.
ONE OVER DOVER - held up early and middle stages of the run home and trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
TRICK STAR - driver S Ottley advised the sliding blinds were not activated due to having the field covered.
PLAYBOY'S BROTHER - broke near the 150 metres. A final warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
RED HOT POKER - broke in the early stages.
SAM GALLEON - broke after racing over the course crossing.
Race 12   ALISON MARY MUDIE MEMORIAL PACE
LADY'S LASS - held up early stages of the run home. Driver T Robertson was cautioned to change his whip action.
GLORY DAYS - broke as the start was effected. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 400 metres.
NANELLE FRANCO - broke as the start was effected. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
AVEROSS FERRARI - paced roughly at the 450 metres before breaking with 400 metres to run checking a trailing runner. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
MAGICAL MATTY - paced roughly racing over the crossing.
CORENA LEA - checked from the outside as the start was effected dislodging driver G O'Reilly and taking no part in the event. Mr O'Reilly was checked by St John paramedics and cleared of any injury. Payment of dividends were withheld until Stewards had viewed the films and were satisfied that this mare had not been denied a fair start.
WOLF WEST - shied as the start was effected making heavy contact with the horse to its inside. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
LILAC BECKY - broke at the start losing ground. Improved outwards becoming awkwardly placed to the wheel of GLORY DAYS nearing the 700 metres and paced roughly for several strides. Driver B Laughton was cautioned for the manner he drove at this stage of the race. Held up middle stages of the run home and paced roughly over the concluding stages.
