Pre race blood testing was carried out.

Trainer M Berger advised Stewards prior to the 2nd day commencing that COOL AND CALCULATING (Race 2) would be racing in season. Trainer T Macfarlane advised Stewards prior to the 2nd day commencing that SPORTING MISS (Race 2) had recovered well following its run on the 1st day and was dropping back in distance for tonight's race. This information was passed onto the Commentator for public announcement.

Race 1   MANAWATU ITM MOBILE PACE
SHEIKH YABOOTY - paced roughly inside the final 150 metres when under pressure.
DOWNTOWN BABE - weakened from inside the 600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. The connections advised that the filly had not backed up from it's first day run.
AMERICAN DELIGHT - Driver T Macfarlane admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted under clause (b) of the 'Use Of The Whip' regulations and was fined $200.00 by the JCA.
RAGING THUNDER - raced three wide early before reaching the lead at the 1800 metres.
JR'S JEM - weakened out from inside the final 900 metres. A post-race veterinary examination detected no abnormality. A warning was placed on the performance record of the mare.
TROOPER COOPER - raced three wide with cover from the 1500 metres.
DIXIE JAZZ - broke for several strides early in the score-up recovering to take it's place in behind the mobile. Raced three wide with cover from the 1500 metres.
MHAI UPTOWN GIRL - held up rounding the final turn and the early stages of the run home. Received clear racing room from inside the final 80 metres.
IDEAL TIGER - raced three wide with cover from the 1500 metres.
BLAKE - raced three wide without cover from the 1700 metres.
Race 2   ANNE MCBETH, KEVIN & SHIRLEY FARRIER MOBILE PACE
COOL AND CALCULATING - inclined to lay in rounding the home bend.
IDEAL LINCOLN - broke in the score-up and was three lengths out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier manners record.
MR INCREDIBLE - broke approaching the 800 metres and lost all chance. The gelding was declared ineligible until it trials satisfactorily.
Race 3   FRASER MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROT
MEKONG PRINCESS - trotted unevenly throughout the run home and could not be driven out with Driver B Orange not activating the deafeners.
LAURA BUSH - broke inside the 400 metres losing ground.
CAITLIN'S SURPRISE - weakened over the latter stages.
NOVEMBER GUY - broke shortly after the start and trailed the field throughout.
Race 4   CARTOWN MOBILE PACE
ROCK N JOY - badly inconvenienced by a tiring runner inside the 400 metres.
PHILLYDOTCOM - weakened approaching the final 400 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
FRANCO EMPIRE - held up rounding the final turn and the early stages of the run home.
FORTUNE SMILES - improved three wide to lead at the 1600 metres then weakened from inside the 400 metres inconveniencing trailing runners.
OUR WICKLOW - inclined to lay out throughout.
Race 5   NAYLOR PALMER OPTOMETRY MOBILE PACE
STARRY STAR - worked early to hold the lead then trailed passing the 1000 metres. Weakened at the 500 metres inconveniencing trailing runners.
JETENARA - unsuccessfully contested for the early lead. Inconvenienced by a tiring runner rounding the home bend.
ONEDIN PUNTER - inconvenienced by a tiring runner rounding the home bend.
SWEET MAGGIE RYAN - inconvenienced by a tiring runner rounding the home bend.
AFORTUNADO - broke passing the 2100 metres and lost ground. Improved three wide approaching the 800 metres and weakened out inside the 400 metres. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners record.
Race 6   SPEIGHTS ALE HOUSE MANAWATU CUP (MOBILE PACE)
SPIRIT OF ANZAC - broke racing into the first bend inconveniencing trailing runners and lost ground before settling towards the rear of the field. An investigation was held into this incident and after hearing evidence from Junior Driver S Iremonger (assisted by Senior Driver S Phelan), Driver D Butcher (THE NIGHT HAWK) and viewing the replays it was established that SPIRIT OF ANZAC had lay in and paced roughly entering the turn which enabled THE NIGHT HAWK to shift down to trail the leader MISTER HARRIS before SPIRIT OF ANZAC then broke losing ground. After considering the matter no further action was deemed necessary. Mr Iremonger was cautioned for allowing his gelding to shift ground inward near the 250 metres when activating gear which resulted in ALLY MAE (N Chilcott) being checked and breaking. In considering the matter Stewards took into account that SPIRIT OF ANZAC had been laying in which placed Mr Iremonger at a disadvantage however he was advised that he would be expected to exercise greater control in similar circumstances in the future.
BETTOR SENSATION - inconvenienced by a breaking runner racing into the first bend.
ALLY MAE - checked and broke when to the inside of SPIRIT OF ANZAC approaching the 250 metres.
BILL HALEY - inconvenienced by a breaking runner racing into the first bend.
Race 7   T MARKET FRESH MOBILE PACE
AMARO - raced three wide from inside the 1250 metres.
RED RIVER DASH - held up late in the run home.
T C BUSINESS - shifted out early in the run home inconveniencing ROZZANO. Driver B Orange was cautioned in relation to this incident.
LINCOLN LOVELY - over-raced over the early stages. Raced three wide with cover from inside the 1200 metres.
ROZZANO - inconvenienced early in the run home. Shifted out under marginally when under pressure passing the 100 metres and contacted the sulky of AMARO with it's off hind which resulted in the mare breaking and losing its chance. After questioning Junior Driver S Tomlinson no further action was taken.
MISTER MIGHTY - raced three wide with cover from inside the 1000 metres.
Race 8   NAYLOR LAWRENCE HANDICAP TROT
BET'S COMMANDO - broke approaching the 2100 metres losing ground. Broke again passing the 1100 metres. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners record.
DANKE - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
SHONA MARY - broke at the start and shifted out checking CAROLINE WOZNIACKI and settled at the rear. A warning was placed on the mare's standing start barrier manners.
CAROLINE WOZNIACKI - checked and broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
FLYING TAINE - broke passing the 600 metres losing it's chance.
DAUNTLESS - when questioned regarding the gelding's improved performance Driver Z Butcher advised that tonight's race was a drop in class and that the race on the first day had not been run to suit when he had been shuffled back in the middle stages on a slower tempo. He further stated that he felt the gelding may have derived some benefit from the first day run which resulted in the strong performance in tonight's event.
Race 9   TREVOR HARRIS MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE
ATOM HANOVER - broke entering the first bend after having been crossed by HEZALUCKYGRINNER inconveniencing the trailing runners. An investigation was held into this incident and after hearing from Junior Driver S Iremonger (assisted by Senior Driver B Orange), N Chilcott (HEZALUCKYGRINNER) and viewing the replays the evidence proved to be inconclusive and no further action was taken other than to note the circumstances.
KOTARE COSTA - raced three wide early. Inconvenienced by a weakening runner inside the 400 metres and then gave ground to finish at the rear.
FANCY SCHMANCY - over-raced middle stages before being taken forward to race outside the leader near the 950 metres.
SCELTA UNO - inconvenienced by a galloping runner racing into the first bend.
WICKLOW STAR - raced three wide early before improving to race outside the leader. Weakened approaching the 500 metres inconveniencing trailing runners.
MADDISONS DESIRE - Driver B Orange reported that he had not activated the deafeners due to having the field covered.
