SOUTHERN BELLE - lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.
LAVAZZA - lay out at various stages throughout the event.
GEMMA MAC - lay in shortly after the start.
Race 2   WILLYS FLOORING LTD / JD SOUNESS LTD TROT
SMOKIN BANDAR - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. Placed on the Unruly for future standing start events at the request of co-trainer K Barclay.
LADY ZARA - trainer A Kyle was issued a warning pursuant to Programming Conditions Regulations 15(a)(i) when being late to present this runner on course.
THE POWER BROKER - held up for clear racing room through the early stages of the home straight. Junior driver K McNaught (assisted by Senior horseman A Beck) was shown the films and questioned as to why he waited until nearing the 30 metres to utilise the passing lane when the opportunity to do so had presented itself near the 150 metres. After taking into account the explanation tendered by Mr McNaught and Mr Beck, Stewards issued a charge pursuant to Rule 868(2) in that Mr McNaught failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to allow his horse to finish in its best possible position. After viewing replays and hearing evidence from all parties the JCA found the charge proved and imposed a suspension of Mr McNaught's junior horseman's licence from the close of racing on the 9th February 2019 up to and including the 7th March (6 days).
SPUR ME ON GENTLY - broke briefly shortly after the start.
ROBO TROUBLE - hung at various stages throughout the event.
Race 3   SHANE MATHESON CRUTCHING & SHEARING MOBILE PACE
WHISKYINTHEJAR - hung inwards rounding the bend near the 1300 metres.
TOMMYS REACTOR - broke shortly after the start. Placed on the Unruly for future mobile start engagements. Over-raced and became awkwardly placed on the sulky wheel of STINGRAY TARA near the 1500 metres. Weakened from the 500 metres.
STINGRAY TARA - held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the home straight.
CALICO HILL - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver A Beck. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
THE GREAT BUZZ - held up rounding the final bend.
Race 4   RODGERS GARAGE LTD MOBILE PACE
SHUZI - held up for clear racing room throughout the home straight.
THISLADYROCKS - out of position at the start. Driver B Williamson was warned to ensure he makes a greater effort to maintain his allocated barrier position until the dispatch point.
THE LITTLE ONE - unable to access its correct barrier position necessitating a false start be declared. Sent to the Unruly position by the Starter for the re-start where the mare will be drawn for future mobile engagements. Raced greenly and paced roughly in the score-up and was well out of position at the dispatch. Checked near the 1100 metres.
MAAHES- trainer R Gutsell was issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $100 when using a non-warranted sulky.
DUBLIN STREET - raced wide in the early stages.
DELIGHT N GOLD - raced greenly rounding the bends throughout. Broke near the 1100 metres checking RAKAGEM and THE LITTLE ONE which broke in consequence. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
CANTWELLS GOLD - weakened from the 400 metres.
RAZCAL ALLEY - paced roughly shortly after the start when being restrained to take cover.
RAKAGEM - checked near the 1100 metres. Hung rounding the final bend.
Race 5   CALDWELL CONTRACTING LTD MOBILE PACE
ROCK ON - when questioned regarding the performance driver B Orange could offer no tangible explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
LADY'S LASS - weakened from the 500 metres.
RED TERROR - paced roughly for a few strides shortly after the start. Weakened from the 400 metres.
ARDENT LUSTRE - out of position at the start. Junior driver J Morrison was issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $100 for failing to maintain his allocated barrier position until the dispatch point.
KAGEE VC - hung rounding the bend near the 1800 metres making contact with a track marker which become dislodged. Held up by a tiring runner near the 500 metres and again rounding the final bend.
RAFFY ROO - paced roughly in the score-up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Hung inwards and paced roughly rounding the final bend.
Race 6   AON INSURANCE PACE
TARTAN ROBYN - held up for clear racing room rounding the final bend and in the early stages of the home straight.
RAKE - raced wide from the 900 metres. A centre carrier strap came adrift during the running. Trainer K Adams was issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $100 for failing to affix gear so as not to come adrift.
THRO ME THE BUOY - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Stood down pending one satisfactory trial prior to racing next. Trainer W Adams advised the filly will now be sent for a spell.
Race 7   MLT / PIONEER TAVERN HANDICAP TROT
GRACE O'MALLEY - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
RYDGEMONT MILLY - slow to begin. Placed on the Unruly for future standing start events at the request of co-trainer D Shirley.
DIPENDRA - contacted track markers rounding the final bend.
SPOTLIGHT THE VALLEY - held up early in the home straight.
WAR ADMIRAL - hung rounding the final bend then broke near the 250 metres.
Race 8   AUCKLAND REACTOR AT ALABAR HANDICAP PACE
VINTAGE CHEDDAR - driver B Williamson reported he did not activate the pull down blinds applied to the gelding due to having the field covered.
ANNIE FITZ - slow to begin losing ground.
TACT MAGGIE - broke briefly at the start.
ESPECIAL - over-raced through the middle stages.
Race 9   GRANT CHAMBERLAIN BUILDER LTD MOBILE PACE
MIGHTY FLYING ART - driver B Barclay reported he did not activate the removable deafeners applied to the colt due to having the field covered.
VIN SCULLY - held up for clear racing room throughout the home straight.
READY TO RUMBLE - raced wide in the early stages.
B MAC C - held up for racing room rounding the final bend and in the home straight with driver J Cox reporting that due to this he did not activate the removable deafeners applied to the gelding.
KOTARE ELITE - over-raced through the middle stages. Held up for racing room rounding the final bend.
