When questioned regarding the performance driver B Barclay advised the gelding had hung throughout and raced greenly on occasions however given the lack of race-day experience he expected RONNIE PICKERING to derive benefit from the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. | |

Junior driver E Barron was shown the films and spoken to advisedly regarding her position when leaving the pre-race formation. Stewards questioned Miss Barron in the presence of Mr S Walkinshaw regarding her decision not to improve wider on the track near the 300 metres. Miss Barron explained the mare had locked on the inside rein causing her difficulty at this time and she felt that due to the runners in front of her beginning to weaken her best option was to shift inwards in search of clear running rather than improve wide on the final bend. Stewards noted Miss Barron's comments. Miss Barron also advised THISEXCUSEBETTERBEIT was showing signs of being in season post-race. | |
