Race 5 - THE FAMOUS GROUSE HOTEL TROT
Trainer M Alfeld advised Stewards on 7 January that no problems have surfaced with CLOVER LOU since being late scratched at Motukarara on 29 December adding that the mare will resume racing in early February.

Race 10 - TRILLIAN TRUST 2018 AUCKLAND CUP (FFA PACE)
Co-Trainer M Purdon advised Stewards on 7 January that blood tests taken from DREAM ABOUT ME following its run in the Auckland Cup revealed some signs of stress. Mr Purdon added that the mare will most likely resume at Addington in early February.

SUNRISE SPUR - hampered by a breaking runner near the 150 metres.
COSMIC SUN - hung outwards and trotted roughly in the home straight.
LUCKY STRIDE - broke at the start losing all chance and was retired from the race.
PERSEVERANCE ROAD - broke rounding the first bend. Stood down to complete one satisfactory trial.
EASY PICKINGS - broke with 200 metres to run.
DOLLY JONES - hung inwards rounding the final bend.
AYUTTHAYA - broke near the 2000 metres. Trotted roughly for the remainder of the race.

SUPREME LINCOLN - Trainer W Stapleton was issued a $50 Minor Infringement Notice for failing to notify a driver by the prescribed time. Over-raced early stages when being restrained.
SZYBKA LANE - over-raced early stages when being restrained. Continued to over-race through the middle stages.
LILBITBETTOR - weakened final bend. Broke briefly late in the run home.

SEFTON HOOLIGAN - held up for clear racing room in the home straight. Placed in restricted room late in the run home.
KATIE DALY - had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight. Driver B Hope was warned for the manner he drove over the concluding stages when placing an inside runner in restricted room.
SISTER'S DELIGHT - broke at the start. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts. Driver M Williamson reported that the filly had hung throughout causing him difficulty in his attempt to shift wider on the track in the home straight.
SANTANNA LAD - fractious prior to the start. Slow to begin. Severely checked shortly after the start and was pulled up.
MISS PINOCCHIO - Trainer G Smith admitted a breach of Programming Conditions Regulations 15(a)(i) in that he was late to present his runner on course and was fined $100 by the JCA. Badly checked by OUT OF THE SHADOWS soon after the start with Driver G Smith being dislodged from the sulky. Subject to a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities. Mr Smith was examined by St John paramedics and cleared to fulfill his remaining driving engagements.
OUT OF THE SHADOWS - broke at the start and shifted inwards abruptly checking MISS PINOCCHIO which lost its driver in consequence and was retired from the race. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts and stood down to complete one satisfactory trial from this start type.

BETTOR TRENZ - when spoken to regarding the improved performance Trainer/Driver G Smith explained that the gelding had the benefit of a good draw with an economical run today and together with having sliding blinds added to the horse's gear had contributed to the improved run.
REGAL SUZY - paced roughly in the early stages of the home straight.
MOTU SPEEDY STAR - placed in restricted room late in the run home and had to be steadied. Driver B Laughton reported the horse paced roughly around the bends.
CLARENDON FALCON - crowded near the 300 metres.
VIGOROSO - broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Over-raced throughout. Held up for clear racing room for the majority of the home straight. Paced roughly near the 50 metres. Driver D O'Connell was warned for the manner he drove late in the run home when placing outside runners in restricted room when shifting ground. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts at the request of the connections.
PASSION FLOWER - late scratching at 8.25am on veterinary advice. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance.
ALEXY - raced wide early stages. Placed in restricted room late in the run home and had to be steadied.
EJA PATRON - Driver J Morrison was warned for the manner he drove near the 300 metres when crowding inside runners.
BHAKTI - paced roughly shortly after the start. Crowded near the 300 metres and paced roughly when being steadied.

HIGHLAND STAR - tangled away. Trotted roughly passing the 1400 metres. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 550 metres.
ANOTHERDOLLYTROUBLE - trotted roughly and raced keenly through the middle stages. Weakened from the 900 metres. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the mare.
MISSIE CASTLETON - broke at the start. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts. Trainer T May was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for failing to affix the near hind bandage so as not to come adrift.
ZEDDIE MARIT - broke and swung sideways shortly after the start severely checking the trailing ZONED SCARLETT. Stood down to complete one satisfactory trial from a standing start.
SUNNY DEMON - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not having competed for a considerable period and was cleared to start. Broke shortly after the start. Over-raced through the middle stages. Broke briefly passing the 1700 metres and again passing the 1600 metres losing its chance.
GEENA'S GIRL - broke at the start. Broke again near the 850 metres.
DON'T LOOK BACK - hampered by the weakening ANOTHERDOLLYTROUBLE near the 850 metres and trotted roughly when hanging and becoming awkwardly placed close to the wheel of that runner.
GIRLS LET LOOSE - Junior Driver K Newman assisted by Senior Horseman M Williamson admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations. After hearing submissions on penalty, Mr Newman's licence was suspended from the close of racing today up to and including 27 January 2019 (3 days).
ZONED SCARLETT - severely checked shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Stewards sought a ruling from the JCA under Rule 213(1)(j) to determine whether ZONED SCARLETT was denied a fair start when checked by ZEDDIE MARIT at the start. After hearing submissions from Driver B Laughton and Stewards, the JCA deemed the horse to have received a fair start.
WHATASISTA - trotted roughly throughout. Broke near the 550 metres. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
DAVEY MAC - broke at the start.

DIRECT CONTROL - hung inwards final bend and struck pylons. Held up throughout the run home with Driver B Orange advising Stewards that he was not afforded the opportunity to activate the removable deafeners.
GO DAVEY - held up early stages of the run home.
IMOLA - Trainer G Smith advised Stewards that the gelding has had spinal surgery since last racing. Hung inwards and paced roughly rounding the final bend losing ground.

PEGASUS KOMMANDER - held up final bend.
RAPHOE - hung outwards in the score up and was out of position at the start despite the efforts of Driver B Williamson. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
PAUL'S VERDICT - held up final bend.
COOL CHANGES - raced wide early stages.

RED HOT ROCKET - Driver G Smith advised that he did not activate the sliding blinds due to having the field covered. Mr Smith was issued with a warning to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the run home.
ONE OVER DA SKYE - broke at the start losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of Co-Trainer G Hope.
ONE APOLLO - Driver S McNally reported that the gelding had been making abnormal breathing noises during the running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the horse in the coming days with Trainer B White.
GORILLA PLAYBOY - over-raced through the middle stages when being restrained in an attempt to obtain cover.
TRICK STAR - struck pylons leaving the final bend. Driver S Ottley was issued with a warning.
PLAYBOY'S BROTHER - broke rounding the first bend. Broke again near the 1700 and 800 metres. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
THAT'S THE STORY - hung inwards final bend. Held up throughout the run home.
RED HOT POKER - held up final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
SAM GALLEON - trotted roughly in the home straight.

AVEROSS FERRARI - weakened final bend.
SHEEZ GOOD - held up final bend and in the early stages of the home straight.
SHEEZA SPORT - fractious prior to the start causing a delay. Sent to the unruly by the Starter where it will remain for future standing starts. Stood on the mark as the start was effected and swung around losing all chance. Stood down to trial satisfactorily on one occasion.
MACHJAGGER - over-raced early stages.
IGOTTASTAR - hung inwards leaving the final bend.
MACHS MARETA - held up final bend and in the early stages of the home straight.
CLIVE - fractious prior to the start. A false start was declared after the 15 metre barrier strand failed to clear the gelding. Raced wide without cover from the 1200 metres before weakening final bend. When questioned regarding the performance, Driver G Ross advised the gelding had travelled lethargically and had been very disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the gelding with Trainer D Ross in the coming days.
YOUNG CONQUEROR - Trainer R Todd advised Stewards that the gelding would be driven for one run circumstances permitting. Fractious prior to the start.
