BYE BYE LUCY - Broke for several strides early in the score up but recovered to take its position at the start. Weakened from inside the final 600 metres, finishing well back. A post-race veterinary examination was clear.
JR'S JEM - Became unbalanced travelling over the crossing, pacing roughly for several strides. Inconvenienced by tiring runner inside the 500 metres.
UNCLE DREW - P Fleming admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) when he used his whip in contravention of the whip regulations over the final stages of the race. The JCA suspended his horseman's licence from the conclusion of racing on 4 January up to and including 19 January 2019 (3 days).
MR BILLIARDS - Became unbalanced travelling over the crossing and broke near the 1700 metres losing ground. Held up rounding the turn and early in the home straight.
GEOFF'S LEGACY - An investigation was opened into Driver B Towers use of the whip over the concluding stages.

JACK BATES - Weakened inside the final 500 metres. Driver B towers was questioned in regard to his driving tactics, in particular, the early and middle stages of the race. He stated that he was surprised how easily the gelding found the lead, and that usually it is best suited to race with cover. He stated that he was prepared to take a trail but preferably not in behind EXPRESS PLAY based on his form analysis. When he was challenged by EXPRESS PLAY he noted that that runner was struggling so rather restrain he allowed his charge to maintain the lead and stated he was not required to place JACK BATES under any pressure to do so. He stated that sectionals run were not extraordinary and that he was disappointed with its run despite it being required to race without cover. Trainer F Mitchell confirmed Driver B Towers assessment of the race.
EXPRESS PLAY - Weakened inside the final 500 metres. Driver P Fleming was questioned into the tactics he adopted over the early and middle stages of the race in particular when he challenged JACK BATES for the lead. He stated the mare is one paced and needed to race in a forward position. He attempted to progress forward but was unable to obtain the lead. He stated he was encouraged to go forward expecting JACK BATES to relinquish the lead as he believed it normally races with cover. He was disappointed with the mare's performance and is reassessing its racing future.
MARRERA - Became unbalanced travelling over the crossing and broke near the 1700 metres, losing all chance.

ABOVE THE REST - Broke when leading near the 500 metres inconveniencing trailing runners. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners' record.
CHA CHA B - Paced roughly passing the 300 metres, racing erratically and laying out throughout the run home.

CAPTAIN KIRK - Broke for a short distance near the 1750 metres after briefly contesting a position to his inside. Driver S Phelan was shown the video coverage and spoken to advisedly.
FLEETING GRIN - Held up rounding the turn and early in the run home before being angled outwards approaching the 100 metres to improve.
MISTER HARRIS - briefly contested his position near the 1750 metres.
