The connections of CHILLER BAY advised the Stewards this gelding had responded well to treatment for an infection subsequent to this race and it was their intention to continue with the planned racing program.

Trainer L Bond advised Stewards on 31 December that following its disappointing performance MARTIN MCGUINNESS has recovered well and it was his intention to continue on with the current campaign.

Race 3 - OTAMITA SERVICING LTD PACE

Trainer S Breen advised Stewards on 31 December that following its disappointing performance BETTOR MOVE ON would no longer be persevered with as a racing proposition from his stable.

Race 8 - MATAURA LICENSING TRUST GORE CUP (HANDICAP PACE)

'Stewards have concluded their investigation into an incident entering the final straight where B Williamson (KILOWATT KID) became unbalanced in his sulky arising from heavy contact with the sulky of the inside horse MAIDONTHEBEACH (M Williamson). Films show that both horses have been angled towards the same gap simultaneously, however despite the efforts of driver M Williamson, MAIDONTHEBEACH was slow to react to his corrective measure and the sulky contact was made. Not withstanding this, M Williamson was warned to exercise greater care when shifting ground.

ONLY ONE WAY - hung inwards in the final straight. Driver M Williamson reported he did not activate the removable deafeners applied to the gelding due to having the field covered.
TOMMY TIDDLER - broke at the start losing all chance.
LADY ZARA - over-raced through the early to middle stages. Hung inwards rounding the final bend.

AY BOY - hung inwards in the latter stages of the home straight.
BRONTE LINDENNY - held up by a tiring runner near the 400 metres. Further held up leaving the final bend and through the early to middle stages of the home straight.
KIWI BLOKE - raced wide in the early stages. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Weakened from the 400 metres.
BETTOR ROCK AGAIN - raced wide rounding the final bend.
BETTERTHANSPRAYING - weakened from the 400 metres. When questioned regarding the performance driver M Jones advised he was disappointed with the effort however could offer no tangible explanation. The mare was stood down pending a Veterinary clearance after a post-race examination revealed the mare to be wind-sucking with the connections advised it was recommended that a Caslick procedure be performed. Stewards will follow this up in the coming days.
BELLA SARA - driver N Williamson reported the mare had paced roughly in the score-up.
CHOICE LUSTRE - when questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance trainer I Court advised that the mare had benefited from an economical trip today.

OWeBOsFXU5A PATS DRAGON - Junior driver B Hope was shown the films and spoken to advisedly for the manner in which he drove rounding the final bend when allowing his horse to race wider on the track.
TIZIANO - out of position at dispatch with Junior driver J Morrison being warned to make a greater effort to be in his allocated position at the start. Held up by a tiring runner entering the home straight. Mr Morrison advised he had difficulty steering this mare rounding the final bend.
PLEASE SHUDDUP - back out of position at the dispatch despite the efforts of driver N Williamson. Driver N Williamson was warned to make a greater effort to be in his allocated position at the start.
MOTU TOP MACH - broke in the score-up and was several lengths back at the dispatch. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier record of the gelding. Broke again near the 500 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed low grade soreness in its right fore leg and mild dehydration. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance.

THE MIGHTY CULLEN - over-raced for a short distance from the 700 metres.

OPAL - paced roughly and faltered in its gait leaving the final bend becoming unbalanced and breaking. A warning was placed on the racing manners record of the mare.
THE PAUA DIVER - the Boring Pole was removed prior to the start. Hampered by a breaking runner entering the first bend. Raced three-wide from the 900 metres. Hampered by a breaking runner exiting the final bend.
MISS V C - broke when leading passing the 2000 metres, losing ground.
THRO ME THE BUOY - paced roughly and broke entering the first bend, losing ground. Severely hampered by a breaking runner exiting the final bend.

ARCHMAN - raced wide in the early stages.
FOUR STARZZZ SHIRAZ - held up for racing room rounding the final bend.
THE NIGHT HAWK - Paced roughly shortly after the start and again at various stages throughout the running. Weakened from the 900 metres. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Williamson confirmed the gelding had paced roughly throughout and that he was disappointed with its efforts. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no clinical abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery again in the coming days.
MY GEORGIE BOY - held up briefly rounding the final bend.
DUNROBIN - weakened from the 400 metres. When questioned regarding the performance driver N Williamson advised he was disappointed with the effort however could offer no tangible explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no clinical abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with trainer B Shirley in the coming days.
PROVISEUR - over-raced through the middle stages.

CUDDLY TROUBLE - broke shortly after the start, with a sulky tyre deflating resulting in the gelding being retired from the event.
ROBBIE ROYALE - broke in the score-up losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier record of the gelding.
MISS BAMBOOCHA - locked wheels with a breaking runner in the score-up and was out of position at the dispatch as a result. Broke entering the home straight.
SVELT - trotted roughly passing the 400 metres.
MICHELLE - hampered by a breaking runner prior to the start. Hung inwards throughout the home straight.
RITEUR - hampered by a breaking runner prior to the start losing considerable ground.
ONE OVER DA SKYE - Trainers G & N Hope were issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $50 for Late Notification of gear.
ZONED SCARLETT - the Boring Pole was removed prior to the start. Broke at the start losing ground.
The payment of dividends was withheld until Stewards were afforded the opportunity to view the available films of the start and speak with Starter B Ward to ascertain whether a false start should have been declared. After hearing from Mr Ward, viewing all available footage and taking into account that no driver intimated to Stewards upon return to the birdcage that their chances of a fair start had been materially prejudiced the all clear was authorised.

MAN I'M GOOD - hung inwards rounding the final bend and on various occasions throughout the home straight.
LADY'S LASS - raced wide in the early stages. Weakened from the 600 metres.
FLASH PARTY - held up for clear racing room from the 600 metres until the early stages of the home straight.
