RECKON IM SMART - hampered in the early stages by a breaking runner and had to shift inwards so as to avoid being checked. Lay inwards and made contact with track markers passing the 2000 metres breaking briefly in consequence.
ATOM HANOVER - broke at the start inconveniencing a trailing runner and settled at the rear. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier manners.
BIT OF A TIGER - hung inwards in the early stages and then continued to lay inwards throughout making contact with track markers on several occasions.
DRUM WITHERS - raced wide in the early stages before being restrained towards the rear near the 1800 metres.
PRO SURFER - lay in rounding the bends when tailing the field. Attempted to improve three wide from the 700 metres but was under pressure on the final turn and failed to run on. When questioned regarding the performance Driver J Dunn stated that he had been unable to improve due to the gelding's tendency to lay in and was disappointed with its efforts. The connections advised that it was their intention to send the horse for a spell.
ADIEU FLIRT - Trainer J Abernethy was issued with a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting the mare without the notified blinds. Inconvenienced shortly after the start by a breaking runner.

JEREMY WELLS - broke briefly near the 2250 metres.
STAVROS THE TERROR - lay in passing the 1100 metres.
SMOOTH DEAL - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. When questioned regarding the performance Co-Trainer/Driver M Purdon advised that the colt would be returning to Christchurch and would trial in preparation for the Sapling Stakes.
PERFECT STRIDE - late scratching at 3.43pm on veterinary advice after the colt stood on a sprung shoe during the preliminary.
DOUBLE OR NOTHING - Trainer R Green advised that the gelding had sprung a shoe during the running.
 
Race 3PASCOES THE JEWELLERS HANDICAP TROTVideo  Video 
CRUISE ALASKA - broke passing the 150 metres continued on in a gallop in excess of 50 metres and was consequently disqualified from 5th placing by the JCA.
STOW - broke near the 700 metres losing its chance.
MISS BLISSFUL - over-raced between the 1200 metres and the 1000 metres when attempting to surrender the parked position. Had to be steadied for a short distance near the 900 metres when placed in restricted room racing roughly in consequence.
OSCAR BONAVENA - broke at the start losing considerable ground. The all clear was withheld until it could be confirmed the colt did not gallop in excess of 150 metres.
SEX ON FIRE - broke after 100 metres losing considerable ground.
KRATOS - slow early. Raced three wide middle stages. Lay inwards when improving near the 900 metres crowding an inside runner which had to be steadied.

THE STUNNING NUN - held up rounding the final turn.
THE COORDINATOR - raced fiercely through the middle stages. Lay outwards leaving the final bend and continued to do so throughout the home straight.
OUR SEQUEL - broke in the early stages of the score up but was in position prior to dispatch. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier manners.
FANTASIZE - over raced in the middle stages. When spoken to regarding the filly's performance Trainer/Driver T MacFarlane stated he had been disappointed with the filly when asked for an effort over the final stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.
BLAZEN RIVER - raced three wide early before being restrained to the rear.
MACHS MARETA - held up early in the home straight before shifting ground inwards to obtain clear running. Driver T Williams was questioned as to why he had not attempted to improve his position on the final bend and follow SEZANA forwards. Mr Williams stated that MACHS MARETA had travelled on and off the bit leaving the back straight when the tempo increased and felt it was his best option to look to save ground rounding the turn rather than attempt to improve wide. Mr Williams added that he felt his chances of finishing in a better position had not been affected with his comments being duly noted.
TROUBADOR - paced roughly for a stride passing the 900 metres after being shifted wider on the track.

AMERICAN EMPRESS - lay out shortly after the start after having shown gate speed to lead. Continued to lay out during the running.
LIKE A WILDFIRE - lay out rounding the turn by the 900 metres when trailing the leader.
THE LONE RANGER - lay in and then broke passing the 400 metres losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners record.
AHA REACTION - raced three wide in the early stages. Held up on the final bend by a weakening runner.
MACH LITTLE SOAKY - raced three wide early and middle stages before crossing to race outside the leader at 800 metres. Weakened on the final bend.
RUEBE STAR - held up leaving the final bend.
TIGER SWIFT - held up leaving the final bend.
SPIRIT OF ANZAC - raced wide from the 1050 metres.
ZEALAND STAR - broke late in the score up losing all chance. The gelding was placed on the Unruly for future mobile starts.
RED REACTOR - shifted inwards just prior to the start towards the position vacated by ZEALAND STAR. Stewards spoke with Driver M McKendry regarding this and reminded him of his obligations.
A BETTOR ACT - raced wide from the 1050 metres. Had to improve five wide through the back straight on the final occasion to clear a weakening runner. Hampered near the 400 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality.
REVOLVER - raced three wide from the 1100 metres. Paced roughly passing the 800 metres.

MAMMA KNOWS BEST - held up rounding the final turn and early stages of the run home.
HAVTIME - raced four wide from the 600 metres.
BEST WESTERN - raced three wide early.
TEMPO ROSE - held up round final turn and again late in the run home.
NAKURU - raced three wide early and middle stages.
RUBY ROSE - raced three wide early and middle stages.
GHOSTWRITER - held up early final turn.

MY GENERATION - held up rounding the home turn by a weakening runner and then again briefly passing the 100 metres.
SOMETHINGABOUTMARY - Trainer T Herlihy was fined $100 for failing to securely affix a hopple side carrier which came adrift during the running.
RAIN MAN - broke in the early stages of the score up but recovered to be in position by the candy pole. Weakened on the final bend.
ON THE CARDS - raced three wide early. Lay inwards on the final bend and made contact with track markers. Continued to lay inwards in the final straight briefly occupying the passing lane near the 100 metres.
STEP UP - raced three wide early and middle stages before crossing to race outside the leader near the 500 metres.
ELLE MAC - raced three wide with cover until the 500 metres.
JUICE BROGDEN - Trainer/Driver N Chilcott advised that she pulled a flat tyre after it deflated shortly after the start.

HEISENBERG - the pole was removed prior to the start after the preliminary.
ACCELERE - over-raced middle stages.
JESSE DUKE - raced three back on the outer from the 1000 metres before having some difficulty obtaining clear running early in the home straight when having to shift ground outwards and finished on into 5th place. Stewards questioned M Purdon regarding the manner he drove on the first bend as to whether he could have made a better effort to take up the position behind HEISENBERG which was eventually filled by ANOTHER MASTERPIECE. Mr Purdon explained he had been following SUPREME DOMINATOR which shifted down towards the markers when he felt ANOTHER MASTERPIECE had immediately shifted down to take up that run believing he was not in a position to hold that runner wider. Attempted to shift out near the 600 metres causing MR YIPS to race roughly and having to be steadied. Driver M Purdon was cautioned regarding this. When questioned regarding his decision to shift from a three wide position back into the two wide line near the 500 metres. Mr Purdon explained that he noticed ARTSTANDING, which was racing ahead, laying inwards and proving difficult. He added that he was mindful of that horse breaking at it's last start and so felt an inside run was his best option. Stewards noted his comments.
MR YIPS - slow to follow the mobile in the initial stages of the score up but was in position prior to the candy pole. Had to be steadied approaching the 600 metres when briefly placed in restricted room.
ARTSTANDING - raced wide from the 750 metres.
SUPREME DOMINATOR - Trainer B Purdon was issued with a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting the gelding without the notified blinds.

BELLES SON - raced wide from the 900 metres.
TEMPORALE - broke shortly after the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier manners. Again broke near the 2100 metres losing further ground. Trainer/Driver T Herlihy advised the gelding had struggled getting around the bends. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. Stewards will follow up with the connections in the coming days.
AMARETTO SUN - broke passing the 300 metres.
MARCOOLA - broke in the score up and was back from position at dispatch. A warning was placed on the entire's mobile barrier manners.
LEMOND - broke approaching the first turn losing ground before settling. Broke passing the 300 metres. When questioned Driver M McKendry reported that the gelding trotted indifferently throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormality. Stewards will follow up with the connections in the coming days.
HEY YO - trotted roughly throughout the final straight.
 
Race 10TRILLIAN TRUST 2018 AUCKLAND CUP (FFA PACE)Video  Video 
LETS ELOPE - broke at the start. Placed in restricted room racing into the first bend.
STAR GALLERIA - broke at the start. Placed in restricted room racing into the first bend.
DREAM ABOUT ME - led early and then trailed from the 2600 metres but failed to run on over the final stages finishing in 6th place beaten 3.9 lengths. When questioned regarding the performance Driver T Williams could only advise that he had been disappointed with the mare's efforts after securing an economical run throughout. A post race veterinary examination, which included an endoscopy, only revealed a slightly delayed recovery. Stewards will follow up with the connections in the coming days.
TURN IT UP - raced three wide early before improving to race outside the leader near the 2700 metres.
SICARIO - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's standing start barrier manners. Broke again near the 2900 metres and was retired from the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed a cut to its right front heel which required treatment.
MACH SHARD - had to be steadied entering the first turn when LETS ELOPE shifted down to the marker line. Driver B Purdon advised that he pulled a flat tyre after it deflated in the middle stages.
ASHLEY LOCAZ - checked in the early stages having to be restrained. Lay in racing into the first bend placing inside runners in restricted room. Raced three wide early before being restrained to the rear.

OUR PETITE LADY - broke approaching the 1800 metres when leading losing considerable ground. Checked and broke near the 1100 metres losing further ground. The mare's 5th placing was withheld until it had been confirmed that when in a gallop it had not been in breach of the Breaking Horses Regulation.
GERSHWIN - re-handicapped to position unruly 2 off 15 metres after winning at Waikato BOP HRC on the 28th of December. Raced wide for a short distance near the 2100 metres. Stewards reviewed this incident to see if there had been a breach of the Push Out Rule however were satisfied that MR GOOD AND EVIL had commenced its shift outwards prior to GERSHWIN reaching its outside wheel. Broke near the 1900 metres and galloped a considerable distance.
ANGUS BURGA - shifted inwards under pressure late in the run home. Driver B Mangos was reminded that he must make every effort to maintain a straight course.
SERTORIUS - lay inwards and switched into a pace racing into the first bend having to be taken outwards and returned to his proper gait.
GALLEONS VICTORY - broke at the start losing ground before settling.
HEARD THE WHISPER - broke entering the first turn losing all chance.
MR GOOD AND EVIL - hampered near the 1800 metres by a breaking runner having to shift wider on the track. Broke passing the 1700 metres losing its chance.
LOVELY BUNDY - broke passing the 1100 metres checking a trailing runner and was retired from the event.
