Trainer K Barron advised Stewards on 27 December that PADUKA has been sent for a spell.
Race 8 - HRS CONSTRUCTION HANDICAP PACE
Co-Trainer T Chmiel advised Stewards on 29 December that blood tests and a scope performed on NIMAH FRANCO have revealed no abnormalities. Mr Chmiel added that the mare has had joints injected since last racing and will now continue with its current preparation.

Trainer B Waldron advised Stewards on 29 December that blood tests taken from QUEEN BEE BARDON revealed no abnormalities. Mr Waldron added that the mare has worked well this week in preparation for racing on the Central Otago circuit in the New Year.

Race 1PHIL MURFITT ORTHODONTIST TROTVideo  Video 
QUAESTOR - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
DESERT PRINCE - broke approaching 1800 metres. Again broke near the 1300 metres losing its chance. A warning was placed on the geldings racing record.
LOOK BOTH WAYS - broke after 150 metres. Broke again racing past the 1600 metres. Broke on three further occasions near the 1300 metres, 800 metres and the 500 metres. A warning was placed on the mare's racing record.
FOREIGNER - driver G Hunt was fined $500 by the JCA after using his whip on more occasions than the Regulations permit.
ZEDDIE MARIT - began awkwardly then broke soon after losing ground. The all clear was delayed until it was confirmed that the gelding had complied with the breaking horse regulations.
PASTRANA - broke at the 900 metres.
FEKITOA - broke near the 1600 metres losing its chance.
HE WAS ROMEO - shifted inwards and broke after 150 metres when attempting to evade a galloping runner.

LILAC BECKY - raced roughly in the early stages and had to be steadied losing ground inconsequence. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the home straight. When spoken to regarding the filly's improved performance trainer D Taylor explained that the filly had recently been sucking wind with this having been rectified since having her last race on the 9th December. Mr Taylor was reminded of his obligations in regard to Rule 305(a) to notify the Stewards of any condition that may have been affecting his horse's performance at the earliest opportunity.
IT'S ME - broke at the start. Held up in the early stages of the run home, obtaining clear racing room near the 200 metres.
DON'T TELL ANGE - broke at the start.
GLORY DAYS - over-raced through the middle stages.
MAGICAL MELLISSA - held up over the very final stages having to be steadied.
SHORT AND SWEET - hung inwards throughout. When questioned regarding the filly's performance driver C Thornley reported that the filly had travelled lethargically throughout and had proved disappointing when asked for an effort over the final stages. Mr Thornley added in his opinion the first starter had been overawed by today's large crowd and that it was his intention to recommend gear changes to trainer S McRae prior to returning to the races.
JUST MICHAEL - hampered in the early stages. Raced roughly for several strides near the 350 metres.
MYTH OR REALITY - hampered in the early stages.
CHAIN REACTION - began awkwardly. Raced wide from the 1000 metres.

STRATMORES DREAM - broke at the start losing its chance.
DEBORAHS GEM - trotted roughly throughout the final straight. Driver M Williamson advised that as a result he was not able to place the mare under any obvious pressure
MIDNIGHT ASSASSIN - fractious at the start causing a slight delay. Broke in the early stages losing its chance.
SUMMA SONGBIRD - broke near the 1000 metres losing its chance.
HANG ON SUZIE - trainer/driver B Hutton reported that the mare had sucked wind throughout.
CALL ME TROUBLE - broke at the start losing its chance.
FLYIN MANDY - broke approaching the first bend losing ground. Again broke with 300 metres to run.
PERSEVERANCE ROAD - paced away broke shortly after the start and then continued to pace losing its chance. Driver A Lowe was spoken to and advised that he was expected that he make a better effort in the early stages to restrain a horse not in its correct gait.
HELGA'S MONARCH - broke with 200 metres to run.
RITES OF ZHOU - broke with 200 metres to run. Driver K Cox reported that when she attempted to activate the deafeners the cord had snapped and then caught the horse's hind leg becoming entangled for some distance causing the horse to gallop.

SILENT SHADOW - weakened entering the final straight finishing a considerable distance from the field. Driver L O'Reilly could only advise that he had been disappointed with the gelding's effort. A post-race Veterinary examination showed the gelding to have suffered an atrial fibrillation. Trainer G Bates was advised that a post strenuous exercise Veterinary clearance was required prior to his horse again racing.
BETTOR GETTA LOVER - broke when under pressure near the 300 metres and failed to settle for a considerable distance. When spoken to regarding the horse's performance driver G O'Reilly reported that the gelding had paced roughly throughout and cast the off front shoe during the running. A post-race Veterinary check revealed no obvious abnormalities.
GEORGIAS BARON - paced roughly in the early stages then broke for a short distance racing over the crossing.
LILAC CHANGE - held up on the final bend and had difficulty obtaining clear racing room until the final 150 metres.
TABITHA FRANCO - trainer T May was issued a $25 colour fee.
LILBITBETTOR - raced wide in the early stages. Broke over the final stages.
SUPREME COMMANDER - broke racing over the crossing taking some distance to be returned to its proper gait. Held up on the home turn.
CHATTY MAN - raced wide from the 1300 metres

LISA MARIE P - broke at the start.
CLIFDEN CLOWERS - broke shortly after the start.
EDEN CREEK - broke in the early stages losing its chance.
CLOVER LOU - was a late scratching when found to have blood present in its nose after completing its preliminary. A post-race endoscopic examination showed the mare was not a bleeder however it was recommended further tests be conducted in the coming days. Stewards will follow up with the connections.
ROCKNPOP - broke at the start.
DIANA HARBOUR - checked twice in the early stages by breaking runners losing considerable ground and its chance.
LARCH - raced roughly shortly after the start when hampered by a breaking runner.
GALLEONS GLORY - broke racing over the crossing.
SUPERFAST MAGGIE - broke shortly after the start when attempting to shift around galloping runners. Again broke when tailing the field passing the 1600 metres losing its chance.

CULLENMORE - briefly crowded racing into the first bend having to be steadied for a short distance. Held up briefly on the final bend. When spoken to regarding the geldings performance driver S Ottley explained the horses last start second was largely as a result of being able to trail throughout and he was not afforded that luxury today.
LIMOSO - raced wide early stages.
FRANKIE JONES - lay inwards when being taken forwards in the early stages crowding inside runners in consequence.
REGAL SUZY - trainer W Stapleton reported the mare to have been served since last racing.
DOC SEELSTER - broke with 300 metres to run when shifting wider on the track. Stewards questioned drivers D Reardon and S Ottley (CULLENMORE) regarding this incident where it was established that both runners had attempted to take up the same run behind EXTRA GUINNESS leading to DOC SEELSTER being placed in restricted room for a short distance. It was also noted the DOC SEELSTER had been inclined to lay inwards at this stage and accordingly no further action was taken.
CAESAR'S QUEST - raced wide round the first bend.
EJA PATRON - broke near the 1600 metres losing considerable ground. Driver J Morrison advised that the gelding had not been comfortable in the grass track. The connections advised that where possible they will restrict the horse to all weather surfaces.
EXTRA GUINNESS - when spoken to regarding the gelding's improved performance trainer/driver B Weaver advised that as previously notified, the gelding had been suffering from a respiratory infection which he felt in hindsight may have affected his last two start. He added that prior to those runs the horse had suffered a wheel malfunction which cost the gelding any chance.
LUCY DIAMOND - raced wide until near the 1400 metres when taken forward to race outside the leader.

ALI LINDENNY - hampered over the final stages.
TAKE AFTER ME - lay outwards through the final straight hampering ALI LINDENNY and IDLE MOOSE. Driver R Houghton reported the gelding had lay outwards throughout and failed to respond to his attempts to correct the gelding over the final stages. He added that when he pressured the horse over the final stages he shifted outwards abruptly hampering outside runners. Mr Houghton was issued with a warning for failing to display sufficient corrective measures. Driver R Houghton advised he had not been able to activate the deafeners due to them becoming entangled. Mr Houghton was fined $100 for driving over the final 150 metres with his foot free of the sulky foot rest.
TIME FOR DIAMONDS - driver J Ford will be spoken to in the coming days about his whip use in the home straight.
IDLE MOOSE - checked and broke just prior to crossing the finishing line.
ONE OVER DOVER - broke with 2100 metres to run. Again broke passing the 200 metres.
ZSA ZOE - held up middle stages.
DUSKY EYRE - broke around the first bend. Trainer R Allen advised that the horse will now be spelled.
LIGHTWORKOFIT - broke in the early stages. Again broke near the 2500 metres losing further ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing record.
MAJESTIC MOMENT - broke approaching the 200 metres.
RED HOT POKER - broke with 850 metres to run when contesting a position with MAJESTIC MOMENT who was shifting outwards. Stewards spoke with drivers T Williams and S Golding regarding this incident. After considering the explanation of both drivers it was established that MAJESTIC MOMENT had shifted outwards in an acceptable manner however RED HOT POKER had become unbalanced racing into the bend and then eventually broke. Notwithstanding this T Williams was advised it was expected that in similar situations he was to concede his position at the earliest opportunity possible.
MCLOVIN - raced wide from the 1100 metres.
SUNDONS FLYER - when questioned regarding the mare's performance driver J Young advised her horse had travelled well throughout but weakened over the final stages which she attributed to having to start from a 40 metre handicap.

BLACK ART - reared and swung outwards at the start and lost ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of this gelding.
DONEGAL CARRICKFIN - raced roughly and lost ground passing the 600 metres. Held up on the home turn.
FLAMBOYANT - weakened final bend.
HIDDEN DESIRE - trainer D Flint was issued a $25 colour fee. Hampered in the early stages.
ALL ABOUT HENRY - hampered in the early stages.
NOLAN SACKETT - weakened passing the 800 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the right front tendon and was stood down pending a Veterinary clearance.
GORE BAY - reared behind the barriers causing a slight delay.
SAMSKARA - when questioned regarding the mare's performance driver B Orange could offer no explanation. Trainer N McGrath was of the opinion that the mare had over-raced throughout and he will be changing the bit for its upcoming engagements.
BAILEYS KNIGHT - when questioned regarding the gelding's performance driver S Ottley explained that the gelding had been unsuited to the tempo set for today's race and when combined with a 30 metre handicap believed the task had been too tough for the gelding. The connections advised the will be sending the horse for a brief freshen up.

SWEENEY TODD - fractious behind the barriers.
DOCTOR TIM - broke at the start. The all clear was delayed until it was confirmed that the gelding had complied with the breaking horse regulations.
ABIENTO - travelled keenly when leading through the middle stages.
TALL POPPY - broke at the start.
PHOENIX ARIZONA - broke at the start.
GOD ONLY KNOWS - checked in the early stages.
MAGICOL IDEAL - swung inwards then backed away at the start losing ground.
SENORITA MARGARITA - broke at the start.
RED TERROR - over-raced in the middle stages when positioned to the outside of the leader. Driver K Butt reported that the sliding blinds could not be activated when the cord broke.
ITSTHEFINALCOUNTDOWN - checked and broke in the early stages. Blundered and broke with 1200 metres to run and lost its chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of this gelding.

BOBBY T - lay inwards throughout the run home.
ANYTIME - broke in the score-up and lost all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of this mare. Driver J Dunn advised that the mare had been uncomfortable on the grass track.
EUREKA - raced wide first early stages.
ONE DIRECTION - held up on the home turn.
JACK'S SHADOW - driver R Close advised that due to the cord becoming entangled the blinds did not activate.

BANZIE - broke racing over the crossing and shifted outwards abruptly checking several other runners. The connections was advised that the gelding was now to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards. Paced roughly near the 200 metres.
CORENA LEA - inconvenienced racing into the first bend.
STOMPEM - when questioned regarding the improved performance of the gelding the connections advised that the horse had been unlucky in its previous two starts and benefited from a return to a grass track where it had previously performed with merit.
THREE IDEAS - raced wide around the first bend.
SCOTLYNN JUSTIS - checked racing into the first bend.
PEGASUS KOMMANDER - checked racing into the first bend.
MADDISONS DESIRE - checked racing into the first bend.
TURKISH TROUSERS - checked racing into the first bend.
SKIPPERLAND - checked racing into the first bend. Lay inwards throughout the final straight.
