Trainer R Wilson advised Stewards on 22 December that SWEET CHILLI has been treated for nasal discharge and has subsequently been working well in preparation for its next start at Gore on 27 December.

REFLECTIONSOFMYLIFE - raced without front shoes. Broke shortly after the start. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier record of the filly.
SNOWY DANA - paced roughly in the score-up and was back off the gate at the dispatch. Continued to pace roughly through the early stages and lost contact with the field. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier record of the mare.
STINGRAY TARA - Weakened from the 500 metres.
FLAMING JIM - Paced roughly throughout. Weakened from the 400 metres. Broke late in the run home. A Post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a significant nasal discharge. Stable representative P Hunter advised the FLAMING JIM would now be going for a spell.
WOLFENSTEIN - broke after 150 metres and continued on in a break for some distance. Authorisation of fourth placing being awarded was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations when breaking in the early stages. Due to the available replay footage being inconclusive all placings were duly authorised. Stood down to trial to the Stewards satisfaction on one occasion prior to racing next. Driver C Ferguson was warned for coming to the starting gate out of position.

POLDARK - weakened from the 400 metres. When questioned regarding the performance Junior driver J Morrison advised the gelding was disappointing after receiving an economical trip.
TAD LINCOLN - driver K Larsen was warned to exercise greater care when shifting ground near the 1700 metres.
WEE RING THE CHANGES - back from the Unruly position at the start despite the efforts of Junior driver K McNaught. Slow through the early stages. Briefly placed in restricted room near the 1700 metres and had to be steadied. Weakened from the 450 metres.

TARTAN ROBYN - over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to obtain cover. Continued to over-race through the middle stages.
FOLKLORE - held up for clear racing room in the early and middle stages of the run home.
AY BOY - broke at the start losing its chance.
BETTOR ROCK AGAIN - broke at the start. Driver A Armour advised he was unable to activate the removable deafeners applied to the gelding due to the cord becoming entangled.
IKNOW - hung inwards at various stages of the run home.
IT'S A LAUGH - weakened from the 400 metres.
SQUARE DEALER - Junior driver E Barron was spoken to advisedly for the manner she addressed the barrier from her Unruly starting position. Raced three-wide without cover in the early stages. Weakened leaving the final bend.

VENETO - slow to begin. Broke passing the 1300 metres then switched to a pace, having to be restrained by driver E Swain losing its chance.
MISS BAMBOOCHA - broke at the start losing its chance.
LYNETTE THE VET - broke at the start losing its chance.
SCARLETT LANE - broke at the start losing its chance.
DELSON - trotted roughly in the early stages of the run home.
ZONED SCARLETT - Trainer B Williamson was charged a $25 Colour Fee. Broke at the start. A warning was placed on the Standing Start manners of the mare. Junior driver J Morrison assisted by senior horseman J Cox admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly near the 400 metres when allowing his horse to strike the sulky wheel of SOMETHINGS BURNING. After viewing replays and hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $300.
SOMETHINGS BURNING - sustained a punctured sulky tyre when the wheel was contacted by ZONED SCARLETT passing the 400 metres.

VINTAGE ROSE - paced roughly and broke in the score-up. Hung outwards rounding the final bend.
APRIL ROSE - held up for racing room exiting the final bend.
MISS V C - broke in the score up and failed to settle, losing its chance and taking no further part in the event. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier record of the mare.
BUNTER'S DREAM - raced wide in the early stages.
BLARNEY BABE - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after slipping over in the tie up stalls and was cleared to start. Out of position at the start despite the efforts of Junior driver M Hurrell. Lost contact with the body of the field from the 1300 metres before being retired from the event passing the 1000 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stood down to trial satisfactorily on one occasion prior to resuming. Trainer M Saunders advised the mare would now be sent for a brief freshen up.

THE NIGHT HAWK - hung inwards and paced roughly rounding the final bend. Held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
GROOMSMAN - over raced in the early stages when being restrained to the rear to obtain cover.
TRIPLE VC - locked wheels briefly with CAST A SHADOW passing the 600 metres.
B MAC C - hampered passing the 600 metres and had to shift wider on the track. Held up in the early stages of the run home.
MY GEORGIE BOY - raced wide in the early stages. Improved wide without cover from the 1100 metres.
MAGNETIC WATCH - paced roughly racing into the first bend.
FRANCO HUNTINGTON - held up for clear racing room throughout the run home.
CAST A SHADOW - locked wheels briefly with TRIPLE VC passing the 600 metres. Raced wide rounding the final bend.

A false start was declared due to several horses proving fractious.
A second false start was declared due to SHEZACULLENGIRL rearing on several occasions with the 10 metre runners being disorganised. SHEZACULLENGIRL was sent to the Unruly position on the second line for the re-start where it will be drawn for its future upcoming standing start engagements.
SHEZACULLENGIRL - hung inwards rounding the final bend making contact with several track markers. Authorisation of second placing being awarded was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the mare had not gained an advantage when racing inside track markers on the final bend.
NEARIS GREEN - weakened from the 600 metres hampering trailing runners.
SAGWITCH - held up by a tiring runner passing the 500 metres.
SON OF LANA - held up by a tiring runner passing the 500 metres.
SMOKIN BY - driver N Williamson reported he did not activate the removable deafeners applied to the gelding due to having the field covered.
MAIDONTHEBEACH - broke at the start losing its chance.
MACH'S BACK - cleared from the Unruly for future standing start engagements.
DELIGHT MY SOUL - Trainer S Baucke reported the mare was racing in foal. Broke at the start losing considerable ground.

ZOEY'S GIFT - broke briefly at the start.
WEE MAN TROUBLE - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
KING CASSIDY - trotted roughly on several occasions during the running.
SUNDONS WISH - weakened from the 600 metres. When questioned regarding the performance driver I Jamieson advised the gelding was unable to make ground from the 30 metres handicap on such a solid tempo.
