Trainer M House advised Stewards on 19 December that BURST OUT LAUGHING has been treated for muscle tie up since racing at Addington on 14 December and will continue with its current preparation.
Race 3 - GRAPHITE DEVELOPMENTS SHOW DAY FUTURITY CONSOLATION MOB PACE
Trainer R Holmes advised Stewards on 19 December that MORNINGSTAR GOLD is being treated for back soreness and will be freshened before resuming.

Trainer J McDermott advised Stewards on 19 December that CAESAR'S QUEST has been treated for dehydration since racing at Rangiora on Sunday.
Trainer M Jones advised Stewards on 20 December that SMOKE N REACTOR will have a minor wind operation and be sent for a spell.

RUNCLE - held up final bend.
THAT ALEXANDER GUY - driver R Sissons reported that he was unable to activate the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled.
PAT CAMPBELL - shifted outwards under pressure through the final straight. Driver C Negus was reprimanded for failing to take sufficient corrective measures to ensure this did not happen.
BETTOR CHANCE - held up final bend.
STOPPITT - no claims were lodged. Broke in the score up losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record. Raced wide without cover from the 1400 metres. Stewards spoke with driver M Stratford regarding the tactics he adopted in the middle stages when after losing a considerable distance at the start, he attempted to improve wide over the final 1400 metres however was under pressure passing the 400 metres and was distanced at the finishing line. Mr Stratford explained his instructions had been to race in a forwards position and despite missing away and losing ground, felt it was still in his best interests at the time to drive the horse in that manner however conceded this had taken its toll and in hindsight considered it to be the wrong option. Stewards advised Mr Stratford that in future he needed to be more adaptable with his decision making which would lead him to displaying a higher level of competency.
MARTIN JOHN - over-raced in the middle stages. Locked wheels with ROYAL JESTER passing the 700 metres. Held up final bend. Driver P Wallace will be spoken to regarding his use of the whip over the final stages when allowing it to be drawn further back than the sulky seat.
ROYAL JESTER - locked wheels with MARTIN JOHN passing the 700 metres. Driver M Maynard will be spoken to regarding the manner in which he used his whip throughout the final straight. Mr Maynard will also be spoken to regarding leaving the course prior to the required 15 minutes.

ZEDDIE MARIT - trainer T Bagrie was fined $50 for being late to notify a change of gear. When spoken to regarding the improved performance, trainer T Bagrie reported the horse had benefited from an economical run throughout and had responded well to several gear changes which included the removal of the pacifier and the addition of half hopples.
LOOK BOTH WAYS - broke after 100 metres.
HE WAS ROMEO - weakened final bend.
THANK YOU - trotted roughly and broke racing into the first bend losing its chance.
PHOEBE ONYX - broke with 70 metres to run and was disqualified from 4th placing by the JCA.
SUNRISE SPUR - weakened final bend.
DOFF YOUR CAP - out of position at the start. When spoken to regarding this, driver C Jones reported he had not been comfortable with the manner the gelding was trotting at the time and when considering the horse had galloped in the score up and received a warning at its last start, had been slightly cautious. He added that it was the intention of the stable to send the horse for a freshen up and following that would be returned to a mobile trial. A final warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record.
THIS WAY COMES - raced roughly in the score up and was out of position in consequence. Trotted roughly then paced passing the 1600 metres losing considerable ground when being broken up by driver J Morrison. A post-race veterinary examination showed some wounds to the right front leg consistent with galloping on himself. This gelding is to be withdrawn from its engagement at Ashburton on 23 December.
DORA EXPLORER - back from the unruly position at the start. Broke near the 1500 metres.
CHAMPAGNE PRINCE - back from the unruly position at the start.

AVEROSS SPITFIRE - broke after 150 metres losing considerable ground. Weakened final bend.
CHOICE LUSTRE - hung inwards rounding the final bend when weakening and struck pylons.
XMAS BAY - lay inwards on each of the bends. Weakened from the 300 metres. Driver J Young reported she was unable to activate the deafeners due to the cord breaking.
REATTORE - held up final bend.
HASTA LA VISTA - broke as the start was effected losing ground. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record.
KACIE CULLEN - cleared from the unruly for future mobile starts.

DOCTOR TIM - held up early stages of the run home.
OVERARM - raced wide early stages. Driver N Purdon admitted using his whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations and after penalty submissions, the JCA suspended his Horseman's Licence from the conclusion of racing on 23 December up to and including 5 January 2019 (3 days).
PADUKA - raced wide early stages. Weakened entering the final straight. When spoken to regarding the performance driver S Payne advised that the horse had travelled well however when placed under pressure had failed to respond to his urgings and had proved disappointing. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the gelding with the connections in the coming days.
TALL POPPY - over-raced early and middle stages. Despite this driver K Tomlinson was spoken to and advised to make a better effort not to interfere with the driver she is trailing.
ROCK N JOY - hung inwards throughout the run home.
BETTOR TRENZ - raced wide early stages. Placed in restricted room near the 700 metres and broke. Stewards spoke with drivers S Diamant (BETTOR TRENZ), D Keast (AVEROSS RUSTLER) and N Purdon (OVERARM) regarding this incident where it was established that BETTOR TRENZ had broken when runners either side had shifted ground when there had been a general disorganisation of the two and three wide line leading up to this. Stewards also took into consideration the submissions of S Diamant and trainer G Smith regarding the racing manners of BETTOR TRENZ at the time. Notwithstanding this N Purdon was advised to drive with greater care in future.

MONRIKA - hampered by a breaking runner near the 450 metres.
ONE OVER DA SKYE - raced wide early stages. Broke near the 450 metres.
IN SEQUENCE - broke near the 900 metres and lost its chance.
ALVIRA HEST - raced wide early stages.
WHATASISTA - broke after 100 metres. Trotted roughly in the home straight.
MEKONG PRINCESS - broke near the 700 metres and lost its chance.
ONE OVER DA STARS - out of position at the start. Broke after 100 metres. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
SIOUX PRINCESS - trotted roughly rounding the final bend.

ANAMAJOR - broke at the re-start.
DIAMOND SHADOW - gave ground passing the 400 metres. When spoken to regarding the mare's performance, trainer A Mugford explained the horse had hung throughout and struck its knee. A post-race veterinary examination revealed some back and hip pain.
ROCKNROLL ROD - delayed the start by lunging at the barriers and shifting outwards. Sent to the unruly position by the Starter where the gelding will remain for future standing starts. Shifted outwards abruptly approaching the 800 metres and in doing so forfeited the lead position to the trailing KENDRA. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing record.
MAGICAL MELLISSA - broke at the re-start.
PROVISEUR - raced roughly after 150 metres.
STATELY - broke at the re-start.
FRANCO SHERBORNE - under pressure passing the 600 metres finishing a considerable distance last.
 
Race 7MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM G K FYFE PAINTING HANDICAP TROTVideo  Video 
DUSKY EYRE - trotted roughly near the 2100 metres. Again trotted roughly from the 600 metres and lost ground in consequence. Trainer R Allen advised that the horse had failed to handle the significant rise in calibre of opposition. He added it was his intention to target grass track racing before sending the horse for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination showed some hock sensitivity.
LIGHTWORKOFIT - fractious prior to the start causing a delay. Broke after 100 metres.
MAJESTIC HURRICANE - trotted roughly in the early stages having to be restrained. Over-raced middle stages.
THEODOSIA - broke near the 2100 metres.
MCLOVIN - broke at the start. Broke again after 150 metres.
QUEVERT - the boring pole was removed prior to the start after warming up unfavourably.
SUNDONS FLYER - broke after 100 metres when being steadied to avoid a breaking runner.
 
Race 8HRS CONSTRUCTION HANDICAP PACEVideo  Video 
FLAMBOYANT - held up badly on the final bend.
NIMAH FRANCO - weakened from the 500 metres. When questioned regarding the performance, driver G O'Reilly advised the mare had over-raced in the early stages however he had been disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed some pain in the front feet. Stewards will follow up with the connections in the coming days.
CLIVE - broke briefly shortly after the start.
MR MIDNIGHT - galloped briefly in the early stages.
NANDOLO - broke at the start.
KOTARE CULLEN - broke at the start. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of the connections.
HIDDEN DESIRE - broke at the start and lost its chance.

DIEGO - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the home straight.
BETTOR GETTA LOVER - driver G O'Reilly admitted using his whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations and after penalty submissions, the JCA imposed a fine of $200.
DEMETER - paced roughly and broke near the 850 metres. A warning was placed on the filly's racing record.
KOROMIKO EYRE - hampered by a breaking runner near the 850 metres.
TANGO TARA - hung outwards through the score up and was out of position as a result. Raced wide early and middle stages. Paced roughly passing the 100 metres and had to be steadied.
KOTARE COSTA - raced wide early stages. Held up for clear racing room over the concluding stages.
CHATTY MAN - raced wide early and middle stages.

DOC SEELSTER - broke briefly leaving the pre-race formation. Weakened final bend. Driver D Reardon was reprimanded for using his whip on a runner out of contention.
CINDY BROMAC - hampered by a breaking runner in the score up however was able to take up its allocated barrier position. Held up early stages of the run home.
MELTON REACTOR - broke in the score up and shifted inwards abruptly hampering inside runner. Raced greenly thereafter and was out of position at the candy pole and start. Stood down from mobile starts pending one satisfactory trial. Lay inwards and raced roughly on the final bend losing ground.
SENORITA MARGARITA - over-raced early stages.
