Driver M Williamson (KANSAS CITY JIM) admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions than permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations. After hearing submissions on penalty, the JCA imposed a fine of $200.

PIRI PIRI - hung outwards throughout the run home.

TUSCAN SUN - hung inwards racing into the first bend and trotted roughly.
HELGA'S MONARCH - broke near the 400 metres. Driver C Thornley reported the mare had been hanging badly.
BOYZ INVASION - broke after 100 metres losing considerable ground. Broke near the 850 metres.

ASTUTO - hung inwards throughout the run home.
GROOMSMAN - held up by tiring runner from the 700 metres.
FORMIDABLE FOE - was a late scratching after racing at the NZ Metro TC meeting on 30-11-18.
DODGE PHOENIX - gave ground from the 700 metres. Driver K Butt reported the gelding had raced keenly in the early stages after striking her sulky wheels. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the horse.

BOUND TO BE BETTOR - broke briefly at the start. Hung inwards and paced roughly passing the 400 metres when weakening.
SHERRY BABY - fractious prior to the start and reared on several occasions. Again reared as the start was effected. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record. Over-raced through the middle stages.
IRON WOMAN - raced wide early stages. Driver B Laughton was warned for using his whip when out of contention.
PACIFIC CHAL - reared and fell to the track when parading in the pre-race circle. Declared a late scratching on Veterinary advice. Stood down from standing starts until the completion of one satisfactory trial.
RENA BAY - inclined to lay inwards throughout the home straight.

STELLAR SUCCESS - hung inwards rounding the first bend.

TEHORO TEASE - broke at the start losing all chance.
NOBLE GAMBLE - trotted roughly rounding the first bend before breaking near the 1400 metres losing all chance.
SUCH FUN - held up leaving the final bend. Hung outwards near the 50 metres.

MICHELLE - hung inwards throughout the run home. Cleared from the unruly for future standing starts.

HEDONIST FRANCO - weakened from the 700 metres. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the mare.
REGAL SUZY - when questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer W Stapleton advised that the horse had been freshened since last racing and had been working well leading into today's race. Mr Stapleton added that the horse was racing in foal. Stewards opened and adjourned a charge issued under Rule 403(m)(i)(ii) alleging that Mr Stapleton failed to notify the pregnancy and last date of service of the mare.
MATINEE IDOL - raced wide early stages. Over-raced through the middle stages. Had to be steadied late in the run home.
PASSION FLOWER - raced wide early stages.
EJA PATRON - raced wide early stages.
PEGASUS KOMMANDER - was a late scratching at 11.45am after found to be lame. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance.
HOT STARFF - held up passing the 700 metres by a tiring runner. Over-raced passing the 600 metres. Held up early stages of the run home.
MARTIN MCGUINNESS - hung inwards leaving the final bend and throughout the run home.
MY NIKAYLA - held up final bend.

TRIROYALE BRIGADE - Driver M Williamson reported he had sustained a punctured sulky tyre near the 750 metres.
PAUL'S VERDICT - weakened final bend.
CHRISTMAS TOYBOY - over-raced through the early stages when being restrained. Continued to over-race through the middle stages.
KNOCKMANAUGH - hung inwards final bend and weakened.
EL CAPITAN - raced wide early stages. Paced roughly and broke near the 450 metres. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
SELENA FRANCO - hung inwards and paced roughly passing the 1000 metres when improving wider on the track. Driver S Abernethy defended a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) alleging that he drove carelessly near the 750 metres when allowing his horse to strike the sulky wheel of TRIROYALE BRIGADE which punctured. After viewing replays and hearing the evidence, the JCA upheld the charge and Mr Abernethy was fined $250.

SUPERFAST NINJA - broke briefly near the 400 metres. Broke again for a short distance passing the 300 metres.
SHE'S ALLTHE CRAZE - trotted roughly in the home straight.
MAUDARCHY - raced wide early stages. Weakened final bend.
TAKE AFTER ME - broke near the 300 metres.
GRAND PRINCESS - trotted roughly in the home straight.
WHATASISTA - held up final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
OUR GRACIE - cleared from the unruly for future standing starts.
NEVERNEVERLAND - swung sideways as the start was effected losing all chance. Stood down to trial satisfactorily on one occasion from a standing start.
ASTOUND - broke near the 1200 metres losing all chance.

BROADWAY BANNER - over-raced through the middle stages. Held up final bend.
PEMBROOK LEGACY - paced roughly in the score up and through the early stages. Checked near the 1300 metres. Raced four wide from the 700 metres. Broke briefly near the 300 metres.
ROMANITE - raced wide early stages. Weakened final bend.
SWAP OVER - checked near the 1300 metres. Raced wide early stages.
BETTOR ENFORCE - raced wide early stages.
DAYS OF REDEMPTION - checked near the 1300 metres. Raced wide early stages. Held up final bend.
FERRITTS SISTER - held up final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
BOOMER BAILEY - briefly hampered after 200 metres.
JACKS N JAZZ - briefly hampered after 200 metres. Broke near the 1300 metres checking trailing runners losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.

ZONED SCARLETT - broke at the start losing all chance.
DUSKY EYRE - Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule near the 2200 metres when DUSKY EYRE shifted ground outwards resulting in RED HOT POKER racing wider on the track. After viewing the replays and hearing from both drivers it was established that DUSKY EYRE had commenced its shift wider on the track prior to RED HOT POKER reaching its sulky wheel. Accordingly no further action was taken. Trotted roughly final bend. Driver R Allen defended a breach of Rule 869(2) in that he used his whip on more occasions that permitted by Clause (b) of the Use of Whip Regulations. After viewing replays and hearing the evidence, the JCA upheld the charge and Mr Allen was fined $300.
MISSIE CASTLETON - broke at the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
PLAYBOY'S BROTHER - trotted roughly throughout the home straight and was unable to be driven out.
THE DOMINATOR - briefly hampered by breaking runners shortly after the start. When questioned regarding the improved performance the connections could only advise that the horse may have been better suited to racing in a smaller field.

BARKLEY - broke shortly after the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the entire. Held up final bend. Authorisation of 1st place being awarded was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the horse had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations in the early stages.
DREAMINSOVER - had to be steadied near the 300 metres when briefly placed in restricted room.
SUPREME COMMANDER - was a late scratching after racing at the NZ Metro TC meeting on 30-11-18.
XMAS BAY - hung inwards rounding the final bend.
MATAU GEM - broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Over-raced through the middle stages. Weakened final bend. Shifted outwards marginally near the 300 metres.
DAYS OF CHANGE - refused to leave the pre-race circle and then shifted outwards onto the grass area on the outside of the track with the gelding unable to score up. Declared a non runner by Stewards under Rule 213(1)(e). Stood down to complete one satisfactory trial.
MELT DOWN - out of position at the start despite the efforts of Driver R May. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Checked by a breaking runner after 100 metres.
