Trainer R Green advised Stewards that following another disappointing performance VINIBAKA will no longer to be persevered with as a racing proposition from his stable.

Race 1NEW YEARS EVE AT ALEX PARK HANDICAP TROTVideo  Video 
A false start was declared resulting in a delay of 6 minutes when SPEEDY LAVROS reared on several occasions and became positioned too closely to the barriers and was struck when activated.
MACKERELLI - lay inwards on the final bend and made contact with several track markers as a consequence.
STOW - there was a slight delay to the start due to the gelding requiring the services of the Blacksmith.
DREAMKEEPER - Trainer N Chilcott was charged a colour fee of $25. Broke shortly after the start and when in a gallop the boring pole came adrift resulting in it hanging loose from the horse's head throughout the race.
SPEEDY LAVROS - trotted roughly in the early stages.
CAROLINE WOZNIACKI - shifted inwards briefly approaching the 150 metres having to be corrected. When spoken to regarding the mare's improved performance Trainer J Abernethy reported that his runner had been able to adopt its preferred racing style of being positioned on the pace tonight which was in contrast to recent starts.
SAVITSKAYA - broke shortly after the start when avoiding a breaking runner. Trainer Driver L Chin was spoken to regarding this and advised it was expected he pay more attention to galloping runners so he would be better placed to avoid them at an early opportunity in future. Broke again passing the 1400 metres.
LITTLEBITOFLOVE - broke approaching the 500 metres. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing record.
JACCKA JOSH - broke passing the 2400 metres. Raced wide from the 800 metres and lay outwards in the back straight when improving and continued in the final straight causing Driver T Herlihy some difficulty. When spoken to regarding this Co-trainer B Hackett explained the gelding was still coming to terms with racing right handed and it was his intention to make gear changes prior to resuming.
MASS DESTRUCTION - pre-race warmed. Driver T MacFarlane was spoken to regarding allowing his gelding to be closer to the barrier strand than entitled for an Unruly horse. Trotted roughly in the final straight and was not able to be fully tested by Driver T MacFarlane.

OUR SEQUEL - broke for several strides early in the score up however recovered its position by the candy pole.
THE NOTORIOUS ONE - Raced roughly on the first bend. Again raced roughly rounding the final turn and had to be steadied for some distance which caused the gelding to lose ground and become held up in consequence. Paced roughly again just short of the winning post with Driver and Co-trainer L Hollis not able to fully test his horse. When spoken to regarding this Mr Hollis explained that his first starter had raced greenly throughout and it was his intention to consider adding one spreader to its gear for upcoming racing.
OZZY'S NIGHTMARE - over-raced throughout. Held up in the early stages of the run home.
RED ATOM - broke shortly after the start and settled at the rear of the field. A warning was place on the gelding's barrier record. Lay outwards under pressure throughout the final straight.
 
Race 3BRECKON FARMS HANDICAP TROTVideo  Video 
DAUNTLESS - weakened from inside the 300 metres and proceeded to trot roughly throughout the run home. When spoken to regarding the gelding's performance Driver Z Butcher explained the horse had been unsuited to the considerable rise in class and in his opinion would benefit from the run due to it being fresh up since 1 November. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
WHIPS N SPURS - broke at the start and trailed the field.
ALTA VENETIA - began awkwardly and then trotted roughly in the early stages.
GIRLS ON FILM - Slow to begin. Broke passing the 800 metres losing its chance. When questioned regarding the performance Driver and Co-Trainer J Dickie advised that his mare had hung throughout and when the pace quickened approaching the 800 metres she had raced keenly for some distance. He added that the mare had been in a fresh state being first up since 11 May and anticipated she would derive benefit from the run.
MR GOOD AND EVIL - inconvenienced by a galloping runner shortly after the start. Held up early stages of the run home.
 
Race 4JACOBSEN HEADSTONES MOBILE PACEVideo  Video 
HAVTIME - weakened passing the 350 metres. When questioned regarding the filly's performance Driver Z Butcher explained the filly had been unsuited to the fast tempo set throughout in what was her first race since 2 June and expected she would derive considerable improvement from the run. A stable representative was unable to offer any explanation for the performance. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the filly in the coming days. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
COMIC BOOK HERO - inconvenienced by a tiring runner rounding the final turn.
RECCO LOVER - when spoken to regarding the gelding's improved performance Trainer R Green explained that his horse had taken advantage of a considerable drop back in class and had appreciated being able to hold a leading position. Mr Green also said the horse benefited from the application of blinds and deafeners for this race.
WILL TAKE CHARGE - inclined to lay in rounding the final turn and paced roughly.
RED MAGIC - inconvenienced by a tiring runner rounding the final turn. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the run home.
BAQUERO - broke for several strides passing the 300 metres.
 
Race 5MICO DESIGN MOBILE PACEVideo  Video 
BIT OF A TIGER - lay inwards when under pressure through the back straight on the final occasion. Returned to birdcage with a broken hopple loop which was inspected and found to be in good order.
THE BLUE BEAT - raced greenly racing into the first bend and shifted ground outwards losing its position and having to be restrained to race at the back of the field. Broke when racing at the rear rounding the final turn. A final warning was placed on the filly's racing record.
IDEAL HOLIDAY - paced roughly when under pressure approaching the 400 metres.
BELLE OF MONTANA - Stewards questioned Driver Z Butcher regarding the manner he drove near the 550 metres as after having successfully shifted TROJAN BANNER to a four wide position and gained cover behind the improving SUPREME DOMINATOR he had moved back down the track and behind IDEAL HOLIDAY causing him to be held up. Mr Butcher explained after shifting his runner to a better position three wide his filly had begun to lay inwards allowing TROJAN BANNER to re-assume an advantage over him enabling that runner to shift him back down the track. Mr Butcher added that his horse was having only its second start tonight and lacked the ring-craft required to competitively jostle for a position. After considering his explanation and reviewing the films no further action was required. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 400 metres and broke when attempting to shift outwards to clear that horse. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities Stewards will follow up with Trainer B Purdon in the coming days.

NORTHVIEW HUSTLER - raced wide in the early stages. Raced roughly for a few strides when placed wide on the final bend.

KAI TIME - broke at the start losing ground and trotted unevenly racing into the first bend. Trotted unevenly throughout the run home.
CYCLONE JOE PARKER - broke at the start losing ground.
AS FREE AS AIR - broke shortly after the start settling at the rear.
OUR ROSA - lay inwards under pressure on the final bend and made contact with track markers.

WHITEHAVEN BEACH - broke when in the lead racing into the first bend losing ground recovering to take up a position four deep on the running line. When spoken to regarding the performance Driver J Dickie reported the gelding to have lost concentration after easily holding the front. A warning was placed on the horse's racing manners record.
KNIGHTS DESIRE - hampered racing into the first bend. Inclined to lay in rounding the final bend.
REDMARO - inconvenienced by a breaking runner racing into the first turn.
RUSSIAN ALSU - raced roughly approaching the 2000 metres.
SPIRIT OF LOVE - inconvenienced by a breaking runner shortly after the start. Raced roughly under pressure on the final bend.

MACEY MAGUIRE - briefly held up in the early stages of the run home. When questioned as to whether he could have made a better effort in the early and middle stages to improve his mare to a more forward position, Driver D Butcher explained that he had noticed in the early stages horses to his inside showed better gate speed and so shifted inwards looking for a covered position. Mr Butcher added that it is the first time he had driven the horse but had noted that its two previous starts had surrendered the lead in the early stages from barrier 1 and so felt the horse was not suited to working during its races despite the average sectionals being run in the middle stages. He added that he had saved ground on the final bend and was confident at the top of the straight that he was in a winning position. After consideration, his comments were noted.
