Race 2EDDIE & MARGE HOPKINS 'WHO DARED TO DREAM' MOBILE PACEVideo  Video
MISTY MEMORY - Junior Driver L Whittaker was questioned regarding the tactics he adopted when electing to hold the lead over the early stages when challenged by CRACKARED and then approaching the 1000 metres again when challenged by CRACKARED prior to then handing up the lead to WHITEHAVEN BEACH. Mr Whittaker stated that he had not been prepared to surrender the early lead to CRACKARED given that mare's last start performance when weakening after having led as he felt he would have been carried back by that runner. He further stated that he felt it was his best option to again maintain the lead when challenged by CRACKARED passing the 1200 metres as he felt WHITEHAVEN BEACH, which was challenging three wide, would be a stronger horse to follow. MISTY MEMORY weakened late to finish in 8th place beaten 15.3 lengths. A post race veterinary examination found the mare to be lame in the left foreleg. A veterinary certificate of fitness is required before the mare next races.
CRACKARED -. showed early gate speed before unsuccessfully challenging for the early lead. Again challenged for the lead passing the 1200 metres when WHITEHAVEN BEACH improved forward three wide to its outer. Gave ground near the 500 metres. Placed in restricted room when BANNER OF ART shifted ground to its inside and locked wheels briefly with REDMARO. An information was lodged alleging that Driver K Marshall failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure his horse was given full opportunity to win the race or to obtain the best possible position and/or finishing place during the middle stages by electing to challenge the leader which resulted in CRACKARED tiring to finish in 10th place beaten 28.6 lengths. The hearing was opened and adjourned to a date to be fixed by the JCA.
ATOM HANOVER - eased racing towards the first bend resulting in its sulky wheel being contacted. Checked passing the 400 metres losing ground.
THE PERSUADER - broke early in the score up and was was approximately 5 lengths out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier manners.
REDMARO - paced roughly for a stride approaching the first bend when awkwardly placed on the sulky wheel of ATOM HANOVER. Locked wheels briefly with CRACKARED passing the 400 metres.
CRACKARED - The hearing of the information at the above meeting alleging Mr Marshall drove in an manner capable of diminishing his chances under 869(3)(g) was upheld by the JCA with Mr Marshall's Horseman's licence suspended from the conclusion of racing on 30 November up to and including 11 December 2018 with the JCA also imposing a fine of $250.

Driver T Cameron was shown the video coverage of his drive particularly approaching the 1500 metres when he lost the leader's back which allowed ASH to take the trailing position on the back of KD HALL. Mr Cameron explained that the pace increased from slow to a quick tempo when ASH challenged for the lead outside of KD HALL and that his gelding was not trotting truly and that he has to take greater care negotiating the bends which required him to steady it to maintain its gait. His explanation was accepted.
