Trainer G Smith advised Stewards on 7 November that blood tests have revealed that APRIL ROSE is suffering from a respiratory infection which is now being treated.

Race 1NZ HORSE TRANSPORT TROTVideo  Video 
COUNT EYRE - hung inwards round the final bend breaking near the 300 metres. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing record.
MAKE MY DAY - hung out at various stages throughout the race. Driver N Williamson advised Stewards that he would be recommending gear changes to the mare's connections.
WHATWILLBEEWILLBEE - reared prior to the start causing a delay with the field being reassembled with the gelding being sent to the outside. A warning was placed on the barrier record of this gelding. Again reared as the tape was released. Hung inwards around the bend at 1400 metres. Broke near the 750 metres losing its chance. Trainer/drier B Norman advised it was his intention to return the horse to the trials before resuming.
NORDIC PRINCE - broke in the early stages losing all chance.

MCLAREN - late scratching after the horse refused to take up a position near the other runners in the pre-race circle. Stood down to trial (mobile) on one occasion. Co-trainer G Knight advised the Stewards that he will not be persevering with the gelding from his stable.
MAC FALCON - lay outwards at the start losing ground.
OUT OF THE SHADOWS - weakened from the 400 metres with a post race Veterinary examination revealing no obvious abnormalities. When spoken to by Stewards Driver C Ferguson offered no explanation for the gelding's performance.
STAR RULER - paced roughly over the final stages of the run home. A post race Veterinary examination revealed this gelding had bitten it's tongue during the run with blood being apparent in it's mouth.

PEGASUS KOMMANDER - broke at the start.
DODGE PHOENIX - hung inwards round the bend at the 1400 metres.
NO MORE CHANGE - broke briefly at the start.
MR HANDLEMAN - raced wide round the first bend.
RAKE - broke briefly at the start and shifted up the track. Raced wide early and middle stages.
MUCHO MACHO MAN - raced wide from the 800 metres and then forced 5 wide around the final bend.

IMRAN KHAN - slow to begin. Placed in restricted room racing into the first bend and raced roughly for a short distance having to be restrained.
SUPERFAST NINJA - broke with 300 metres to run.
GLENDHU GEM - broke at the 2200 metres and again at the 1900 metres with a warning being placed on the racing record of this mare.
WAYWARD ROC - Driver B Norman was spoken to and shown the films of the field heading into the first bend and was told to exercise greater care in future.
MICKEY JAY - paced away with Driver K Butt restraining the horse to return to its required gait losing all chance.
CLOVER LADY - over raced through the middle stages. Driver J Cox was spoken to and shown the films of the field heading into the first bend and was told to exercise greater care in future. When spoken to regarding the improved performance of the mare Trainer A Hoffman explained that alterations to the horse's gear had assisted.
DUSKY EYRE - paced in the early stages having to be restrained and losing ground. Trotted roughly at various stages throughout the event.
GORILLA PLAYBOY - broke in the early stages. Improved wide without cover from the 1700 metres.
 
Race 5DUNEDIN CITY MOTORS MOBILE PACEVideo  Video 
CLIFTON FLUTTER - held up on the final bend.
VIGOROSO - paced roughly in the score up. Over raced through the middle stages and broke near the 1500 metres. Raced wide round the final bend.
LIMOSO - lay in throughout the early stages of the run home and straightened near the 150 metres.
DOC SEELSTER - over raced when being restrained at the 1600 metres. Weakened from the 400 metres.
PLAYBOY PRINCE - Trainer E Latimer was fined $100 for presenting his runner without the notifiable deafeners.
